  1. read my post again. I said sit tight with what we have with a loan. i.e. don't spend £3-5m on a player that is not good enough for the Premiership.
  2. ****er. Adkins is going to have to be a little braver and pick de Ridder for the next 5 games even if he is not great in any one of them
  3. I wonder how much Phillips would cost. £2m, £3m, £5m? He is exactly the player we need. EDIT: Just seen that he scored a hatrick today. They won't allow him to leave. No chance.
  4. I have to say I'm not that excited by the thought if signing Sharp or Maynard to be honest. Neither grab me nor look value for money. The championship seems to have a lack of really outstanding strikers and we are just on one of those periods when you overspend on almost everyone. The right time to look abroad if you ask me, or sit tight with what we have plus a loan and buy in the summer.
  5. do you mean McClean?
  6. decent display from us. We totally dominated and how the BBC website has us only having 52% possession I will never know. They countered now and then, but other than that we just ran the game through Cork and Morgan. I felt we had found form at Fratton and it showed here with a confident display. All we need is a just a little more cutting edge in the final third like we had earlier in the season and we will be unstoppable. Keep playing like this and we will win this league. Davis 7 nothing to do really so you could give him a 10 for a perfect display, but probably best to save that kind if mark for when he has to get us out of jail. Kicked ok, good decisions, claimed and punched what little he had to, threw out well and swept well too. Richardson 9 Yet another very very good display. Parr was woeful, but Richardson didn't give him a sniff. Dribbled well, distribution decent and the cross for the goal was as good as you will ever see. 20 minutes against Millwall apart he has been absolutely outstanding this season. In a team of top performers can he be mentioned as a possible player of the season candidate? Fonte 10 Outbloodystanding again, What a 6 weeks this guy has had. Back to his absolute best. Currently looks even better than he did in League 1. Bullies forwards, but now doesn't dive in. Jos 10 Was he attached to Murray with velcro? Could not have had him in his pocket more if he tried. Great on the ball too. A yard of pace is all that is missing, but in the Championship he looks top notch. What a signing he is proving to be. The partnership is perfect, two ball playing, ball winning centre backs. You could search for years for that combination. Fox 7 Some decent stuff, especially his handling of Zaha, who looks an outstanding talent by the way (if prone to reacting to a bit of professionalism). I'm fed up of his long diagonal balls, but many were good today. On the odd occasion I'd like him to dribble to the byeline like Richardson does and get that corner, but he prefers the big-D ball, which is much easier to defend. Some good crosses, one corner deserved a goal it was so good, but others were overhit. Room for improvement. De Ridder 7 some utter ****e crosses under no pressure that you can only live with if he is going to beat his man and put it on a plate for Guly, which he did. He seems to be on a different wavelength to the rest, but if we give him 5 or 6 game sin a row maybe he would find it. Work rate was good and he won the ball back a lot, which we have missed in Chaplow's absence. Morgan 10 faultless, well he did lose it once I suppose, but touch, passing and movement were top notch. Always available and never with any worry he took the ball from all comers and got us moving. In the end they resorted to hacking him. Cork 8 lots and lots of good stuff and the midfield area was totally ours. I would have liked to see just a few more late runs, but that might have left us open, so no complaints from me. A big decision from Adkins to pick between the three centre midfielders and I think he got it right as these two have been excellent and deserved their chance. Mind you how Hammond was dropped after last week I will never know. What a fantastic choice to have. Come the end of the season I want to see the whole league struggling to choice between them for the team of the year never mind our side. Lallana 6 Not a huge impact on the game, but some lovely touches as usual. Quite a battle between him and Zaha in the first half and he just managed to get his foot in to keep hold of Zaha who could well have caused havoc if he did not do his job right. Ever so slowly he is returning to the form pre injury. If Fox passed to him more than once a game maybe he would be more effective. Guly 7 Good finishes, and kept his wonderful goalscoring record going. Not sure his all round game was all that. He got involved more and he had more room as he dropped so deep, but he still looked a little miffed maybe? Lambert 8 Another solid display and held the ball up wonderfully well again. Right on his game right now. Connelly - not on long, but looks smaller and less powerful every time I see him. I don't want to write him off, but I don't get excited when I see him coming on Hammond hardly touched it.
  7. he is different gravy and earlier in the season showed it to everyone. He has clearly come back too early and not performed until the skate game. He'll have a stormer today.
  8. what exactly were you right about?
  9. unless it's a bubble game then they you charge half the fee or some reason, only this time you don't get a stamp.
  10. here's an idea. Give fans a break and not levy a charge full stop. I certainly don't fancy paying a levy on top of the £40+ Chelsea and the like want these days.
  11. you do realise that Norwich continued to sign players on loan throughout the season. Shouldn't they have sorted everything out on the first day of the two windows? Seems like really poor planning to need to constantly bring in additional players. If the right player at the right priced is not available then no signing should be made just to appease little cry baby fans. The squad IS big enough. It might not be good enough, we'll see about that, but the financial stability of the club is paramount and bringing in a host of average players on high wages ****s that up. Bring in players only if they improve the side. If we have to wait till the 11th hour to get that man, then that's fine with me.
  12. the point being that by closing the Eastern Road the football traffic would all have to go the M275 way, which is a nightmare on match day anyway, but if it is the only route into the city then its going to be chocca, ergo shoppers give Pompey a wide berth.
  13. why? Was there a noticeable drop off in sales on their last three visits? Somehow I doubt it, but funnily enough Portsmouth local businesses were moaning about the effect of shutting the Eastern road for the bubble forcing extra traffic onto the M275, thereby putting off potential shoppers.
  14. if you say so, but it was **** having to make a special trip to collect an overpriced ticket for a bus I didn't want. **** to then make a special trip into Southampton to catch the bus I didn't want, and **** making the trip back from Southampton after catching the bus I didn't want. It added time and cost. Nothing fun about that.
  15. Wrong. They had outriders, closed junctions and fast track/safe passage through Southsea and Old Portsmouth in 2004 and down Eastern Road in 2005.
  16. very good point. Sadly I imagine we'd have a similar philosophy.
  17. actually, much of the local community were up in arms about the road closures and the increased traffic on the M27 because of it. The local community were also not happy with the cost of the policing. Reduced police costs some time in the future? Gee, I can't wait to see that materialise.
  18. led correctly http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/local/east-hampshire/pompey_legend_s_family_asked_to_pay_1_575_to_hold_wake_at_fratton_park_1_3359833
  19. Chez

    Puncheon

bring him back, Guly's time as whipping boy would be over.
  20. agreed, but when he scores the fourth a St Marys to send the ****ers down, the whole stadium will be doing it.
  21. It takes a hour for you body to process 1 unit of alcohol. Ten pints the night before means no driving the day after.
  22. agreed, but an eleventh hour bid in January might work if all the other players they are trying to shift don't happen.
  23. Brum's Jack Butland should be snapped up before he starts getting games in the first team. Also Jordon Mutch is back from injury playing for Brum reserves last night. He is a quality player. With Zigic's wages draining them the blues are going to get desperate for funds.
  24. he turned down a move to Wolves last year preferring to stick with Palace to learn the game. Not a chance of him joining us unless we get promoted.
  25. you might be right, he was on the bench last night, but once the window opens they can bring in new players of their own, plus some of those injured players may return too.
