  1. Er, I just used a couple of random examples that sprung to mind. Pretty sure I could easily come up with 100 players, managers, assistant managers from my time supporting Saints (from about 1987) that if there was the social media we have now would be getting slated. You've singled out Steven Davis who basically only gets slagged off by one contributor - if we had forums in 1989 you'd find similar level of grief from someone against Matt Le Tiss or Shearer, there would have been one nutter.
  2. Paul Jones got plenty of stick early on for not being Maik Taylor who people thought didn't need replacing. And he was a Welsh international who tried hard and everything. Glen Cockeril was called captain cr* p by a proportion of the Milton end when I was a lad. Probably because he was a lazy foreigner. I do wonder what life was like in Sergei's completely made up past life when cheering old fashioned supporters did nothing but praise our hard working honest lads.

    Claude Puel

I think everybody should stop judging Puel until he has been in charge for 25-35 games. That's the official number of games Puel have to be in place for before anyone can judge Claude Puel. That's the rule and everyone should stick to that for all managers named Claude Puel. See you in 25-35 games.
  4. Loads of good managers would. Why wouldn't they?
  5. Correct. Fans (thick, entitled or otherwise) don't appoint replacements either.
  6. I blame our intelligent and appreciative fans myself. Effing useless.
  7. I don't think we will sack him yet. It will drag on and on. He'll have to lose four or five in a row, ie get to the point where he is crying out to be sacked, before they'll even think about it. The club will not admit it has made a mistake, plus they will clearly will have no idea who to replace him with. In a way there is logic there - appointing someone now is going to be fraught with compromise so they will do anything they can to avoid it.
  8. YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  9. Best midfield options of any club in the Premier League.
  10. We are Southampton, a club built on faith from the very beginning. We have our beliefs and our way of doing things that guide everything we do. We don't just buy success, WE BREED IT. We don't take shortcuts, we earn it. Every second of every minute of every day. We've been to edge of abyss and come back stronger for no matter the pressure, however great the temptation, we never stop, we never lose faith, we keep moving forward. We are the Saints. It's not just a name, it’s who we are, we will be in that number, we march on.
  11. I think I remember this is how Alex Ferguson started out.
  12. Come on Virgil, get on with crippling that rat faced scrote bad enough to keep him out of the World Cup. We've got nothing else to cheer for now.
  13. Melt the fu ck down.
  14. Would suggest a significant change in transfer policy. Also, Daily Express so almost certainly utter bo ll ocks.

Fair play, 1-1 was a cracking result yesterday and you must be well chuffed.
  17. Some people have got a reality check coming.
  18. I think it's a shame that Craig Shakespeare didn't get the opportunity to prove that he is the next Alex Ferguson, all he needed was three more entire seasons and then he definitely would have been.
  19. Must have been a different Brighton I spent more than an hour sat at a standstill in the car park. Leicester is a similar-ish walking distance from city centre to SMS - bit longer but very walkable. Derby can also be walked from town plus the added bonus of Subway AND Pizza Hut AND Kentucky AND Frankie AND Benny's.
  20. Let's take back control of our borders except that border which obviously we don't want to control at all perish the thought how could anyone have even thought that.
  21. Well you weren't apathetic about the EU vote because you posted incessantly about It, mainly droning on about how horrible Goldman Sachs are. And it was a simple binary choice but granted in reality you had three choices: Leave, Remain or sh it yourself and stay home and bottle out of actually voting. I think I can just about remember your selection.
  22. 100% this - we are in the city itself and near to the church where we were born. It couldn't be more perfect. I find it absolutely bizarre reading the small handful of people who eulogise and salivate about the prospect of the stadium being out of town, off a motorway sliproad and part of a retail trading estate. Every single one of those types of stadium are miserable experiences and I thank the lord we have nothing like that. I'm afraid I will never understand the thrill of going to a Frankie and Benny's, but clearly some of you love it. Fingers crossed Reading get promoted lads!!!!! I think there's a PC World right near it.
  23. Like you, I'm a massive believer in proportional representation for people too sh it scared to actually cast a vote for anything.
  24. Well obviously not - everything he says is post-rationalising to make him look clever anyway. He may have had a game plan to make sure he wasn't to blame or under the spotlight but that would apply to any high profile match, I don't think he is saying his game plan for that match was different to all other game plans he's ever had. For that game Spurs could have been two up in the first ten minutes and then its nothing to do with the ref at all. The idea that every ref referees every game and every player in exactly the same way is just naive. The world cup final is a different beast to a relegation six pointer or a checkatrade third round match.
  25. When do the German car manufacturers start banging on Merkel's door again?
