Can we finish higher than eighth in the 2017-18 season?
CB Fry replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
Oh, you're so right. And they will build on that next season and the one after that. It must be brilliant to be an Everton fan knowing that they support the only club in Britain that have cracked the secret formula for building on success every single season. Everton fans will never have a disappointing season ever again. I wish we were Everton. -

Everton finished seventh last season which means they will never ever slip back ever again and are guaranteed to finish top seven every single season for the rest of my conscious life and probably longer. They have completely left us behind for ever. -
How much would you demand for him?
-
Correct - even if he has a barnstorming season (ie 10 goals) then it will be the very fact that he moved that would be a key contributory factor - his useful time with us is over.

WITH THE FIRST QUESTION BEING "ARE YOU A GUTLESS YES MAN WHO ONLY EVER SAYS YES AND IS GUTLESS AND A YES-MAN???"

This is true. What probably doesn't change much is the person specification. But, like every club on earth, we assess the market and likely candidates at the point of need. I don't believe we have "tracked" any of our recent managerial recruits more than any other club. We are, however, better at working out what kind of manager we want and I assume we are pretty good at interviewing.

If the Tories had offered up in the election what is on offer now then they'd have easily secured a decent majority. Democracy is magic.

The next election will have a different narrative again. Corbyn won't be the underdog anymore, he will have to look like and act like a government in waiting. The very idea that he now looks like he might actually win changes the dynamic completely.

Backroom staff, all those in favour..Hands up for Sammy Lee

So you only have a moral objection to corruption if it happens to a coach you don't like. If it happens to one you already like it's just a case of "and?" and it not being a point. Clear. -

Heaven forbid anyone is named in a corruption scandal. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/nov/07/england-sammy-lee-bolton-transfer-deal-appeal-court -
If Gardos goes then we do have a vacancy for a Eastern European centre back brought in for circa 6 mil to never actually play. Florin performed that role with aplomb so this guys got quite the boots to fill.

I've no doubt he's proved himself in just under 50 games in the Polish league.

Didn't Les put a brilliant coaching team together? Superb. And so brave to overlook Sammy Lee's utter clusterfu ck of a managerial career when he turned eighth place Bolton into relegation certainties in a matter of weeks winning once in eleven disastrous games. Typical Les to look beyond that, and my how it paid off. -

Just a fat scouse ***** who was at the club for five minutes. A total irrelevance and couldn't give a tinker's chuff whether he ever even entered the city boundary again, let alone rejoined the club. Irrelevant, move on. We'll be on to the Dodd/Williams love-in, next, right? -
Me and the guys from the South-East Derbyshire Illegal War Appreciation Society will be passing a motion to decouple our branch from Corbyn's Labour party forthwith.

So that's a no then.

You're talking utter sh it. There are plenty of clubs that could get gates like ours - just above 30k - if they were in our position. Derby, Forest, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and so on. Getting 30k as a mid-table Prem club is pretty p iss easy if you have the stadium capacity - it's not some miracle driven by our huge fanbase. The true measure of a fan base is not the drivel you're writing about social media. It's asking what our core fan base might be when times are tough. Give us, say, two drab-ish seasons in the Championship and we'd be in the mid-twenty thousands. 23k, as low as 20k. Derby, Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Wolves, Norwich, Leeds can match it by being drab Championship teams now. Some, despite being achieving pi ss all over our Championship attendances. All those clubs achieve the same level of attendance we would get if we were there. And the reverse is true, they'd all be 30k just like us if they were 8th in the Prem (if their stadium allowed it). So, as usual, you're utterly clueless. Found anyone saying we are a "really really small club" yet? Thought not.

I liked it when you took the moral high ground and said when we finished seventh that anyone accepting mid-table as being good for a club like Southampton had been "brainwashed" by Les Reed. Later you were back on this forum, after we'd finished eighth telling people that mid-table was good for a club like Southampton. Laughable.

Funny you should mention SISU isn't it, as some of us remember your keyboard thumping caps-lock hrld down raging FURY AND ANGER that we didn't sell to them way back when. SISU were the saviours of the club who were going to INVEST IN THE TEAM remember and you were their biggest fanboy weren't you, swivel eyes?
