We didn't have much heart and soul when we choked out of the cups pretty appallingly last season, and the season before that. Today's abomination is not unrelated to those.

Has no one started a Jack Cork thread yet?

I think that is really pessimistic at this stage. But he wouldn't be the first one season wonder in the Premier League. Steve Clarke unraveled pretty quickly after WBA finished eighth, too.

Pardew took Newcastle to the Quarter finals and I think Everton did last season. I said in my hopes for the season we would emulate that, but I expected at least to have the group stages to enjoy. It feels like we built the squad expecting this too, Koeman probably instrumental in that. I'd say the realisation that he ballsed this up pretty bad tonight was written all over his face in that post match, and I think he has probably got a couple of players he might not need now, or he's worried that he might not be able to sign the one or two additional players he wanted. Back down to earth, anyway.

It may be hard sometimes, but let's try to be positive...!

We'll finish mid table, and fingers crossed for a nice cup run in either of the cups. We've got a bit of squad bulk now which might help that. Gutted we are out of Europe already, but on that performance (across both legs) we deserve to be. A club like ours is going to run hot and cold in any season - we did last season, with a terrible run in December and again towards the end of the season. We'll have a hot run again sometime soon, which will start putting points on the board and take us into the dull security of twelfth or thirteenth. From their we might build towards ninth, or not. Who knows. -
Don't say unlucky Ronald. Don't moan about last week's match. Come on.

I do like that Lyndsey Hipgrave.

We seem to now have several players we don't actually need. Looking good for the league cup, anyway.

You, on the other hand, are having a ball, aren't you?

I don't need to go to the toilet again, so can someone else go, please?
-
Just put Juanmi on for fu cks sake.
-
This wouldn't be happening if Murat Yakin was in charge.

In order to force a goal, I am going to go to the toilet.

I am enjoying the advertising hoardings that occasionally say "bulls hit". Highlight of the game so far.

We are never ever ever going to score.

Romeu and Martina's laugh-in.

We're not a team/club in crisis you utter plank.

Feels a bit like the Watford semi final to me. I really want us to go through, and not doing it might mean we don't get a chance again for a while.

...and that's why Victor won't go. If Spurs can't/won't find that money for a front line 15-20 goal striker then they definitely won't for big old lumbering Victor.

So it seems you want us to buy one midfielder and one centre back for about £8 - £12m like we did with Wanyama and Lovren. Well, that's what we've done with Virgil (TBC) and Clasie. If we'd done that and no other business would that have been okay as "fewer but higher quality" business? Our other signings are squad building - Caulker for Gardos, Juanmi for Elia. And international left back. They don't feel like harbingers of a catastrophic malaise in our transfer business. Here to do a job, all of which could turn out to be effective gambles. This time last year we loaned in a full back and half this forum went on suicide watch. This time last year we spent £12m (which seems to be your touchstone for "quality") on a centre forward and many on this firum still haven't got over it. It's a tough old gig this transfer lark. I'm happy to back the manager and Les to do it right. I, for one, am looking forward to the WHY DIDNT WE GIVE ROMEU A TWELVE YEAR CONTRACT? weeping in a couple of years.

How do you make a quality player stay at Saints!

There is a world of difference between the over investment we made to get to the Premier League (which I am quite aware of) and what you are expecting our billionaire owner to do now. Once we got to the Premier League we are then generating enough income to become self-sustaining. Being sustainable was always in the plan. "Pumping" millions and millions into the hope of getting in the champions league is not self sustaining for a club like us, it's just pis sing money away. We would not have done it under Markus and we are never going to do it under our current ownership and bloody good job too. The fact that you compare our billionaire owner pumping in hundreds of millions of her own money just because you want to see us sign Neymar with your own purchase of a replica kit shows you have a pretty childish grasp of football finances. Katharina is supporting a sustainable football club and will not be "pumping" her own cash into the club just to satisfy your FIFA 2015 football fantasies. It ain't going to happen and quite right too. -
Surely they'd just just support whichever team has a plain red kit?
