The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

Is this part where you get to call other people "thicko" and "little one" and various other names then at the same time sob and squeal like a little bitch if any calls you a pitifully thick twat? -
He really hasn't taken not getting that job very well at all, has he?

I wonder what was in place during Boris Johnson's first 250 days because it looks like a brilliant preventative measure. Maybe we should go back to that. -
I did think that he looks like someone that Graham Linehan would get incredibly annoyed about.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cj0ql1jrm97o I don't know anything about Talovierov but on googling him I discover right now he has one of the key attributes we look for in a new signing.

Caught with our trousers down yet again

It's about time that the club recruited someone who has built their knowledge on the back of football management games. Well done the club on finally finding the perfect person with that knowledge and those essential skills, it must have been a really tough task to find the right person.

I miss the meltdowns on here about how could we possibly let Jankewitz go he's a world class megastar in the making etc etc etc etc
-
I wish we were whichever teams it is that get through to the FA Cup quarter finals.

This is truly the greatest era in our history.

This feels incredibly likely to me. The red and white kit especially is perfect for revival.
-
Just guessing but I'd think he reports into Mowbray. Mowbray's job title is Head of Recruitment so scouting operations sounds like a department within that. Mowbray's not doing it all himself.

What a load of bollocks. Russell Martin does not have a monopoly on winning beautifully, it's not some magical thing that only he thought of. There are countless managers in my life time at Saints who have delivered winning and winning well, from Chris Nicholl to Alan Ball to Nigel Adkins to Ronald Koeman. You don't get to claim that for your man and your "beautiful" people. Fuck off with that. All I will remember is a manager woefully out of his depth who ill equipped his team for the challenge we faced - which he has later admitted when he confessed he did not realise how physical the Premier League is. The Premier League that is the biggest, most high profile and visible football competition in the world. Pathetic from the manager. Russell Martin is a bog standard manager who promoted a team from the Championship. A dime a dozen. He did a fine job for that level, and fucked up at the higher level. Not because he was some wonderful principled man making a noble principled stand for beautiful football that he couldn't possibly betray. It was because he wasn't up to it.

Don't remember anyone saying there was nothing. Still, keep getting upset about it.

What a load of bollocks. I'll let you into a tiny secret. Every professional football manager on earth, and forever is going for victory. As usual on all your posts on this topic you are piling on grandeur, nobility and higher meaning on nothing more than a football manager who got a team promoted through the play offs. Like countless bang average managers before. Saints fans I know had "aspiration" not to be on 9 points in April. But there you go. Keep spouting fucking garbage.
-
You've gotcha'd me there and no mistake. Turns out Russell Martin really was the very best available manager on the planet. Sincere apologies.
-
The consensus I remember between the special little group on here was > Russell Martin has a "higher ceiling" than Southampton Football Club - so Champions League level > Russell Martin is on the Kompany trajectory so eventually at a CL club like Bayern > Russell Martin is better than shitty old useless Mark Hughes who did no better than taking multiple different clubs to multiple top ten finishes, often top 8 and as high as 6th. Absolutely buzzing to watch Russell Martin eclipse all of that. Will be interesting to see which club he achieves it with first. At Saints things haven't got worse, they've stayed the same with the unfit, too small, too weak squad that Russell Martin assembled. Because he didn't realise the Premier League was "physical". Anyway, onwards Russell goes to the Champions League 🏆 👊🤜🤛👍👍👍

From what I can see pretty much every game is going to general sale so I’m not sure where the immediate need of expansion is coming from. Club are looking at it anyway as they’ve announced. Meanwhile Brighton, Fulham, Bournemouth all doing ok with significantly smaller stadiums. Not sure anyone here much cares about Old Trafford as you’re trying to make out.
-
They've literally invested in the stadium in the last year or so.
-
Of course he will but not for twenty million.

That's a shit guess. That's basically what we paid for Sulemana two years ago. Last season we paid £20m for THB, a centre back that had only ever played in the Championship, not an attacker with a season in the Premier League under his belt. We will not sell Dibling for anything like £20-25m. Will be closer to double that or he won't go.
