The Republic do not play rugby or cricket...those teams are a united Ireland team ie. north and south involved.

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .
Steel City Saint replied to .comsaint's topic in The Saints
Time to show what we are made of. Reading have showed their class with their run of wins against tough opposition recently. We need to 'man up' and put promotion to bed...if we somehow take first place, so be it. -
Unless I see him doing that with a copy of today's newspaper I won't believe that is current footage. Oh, and even if it is, it only proves he is fit for just under 20 seconds which isn't really a lot...although more than he has been in recent years!

I seem to remember a game between Finland and Wales where both keepers were Southampton players: Jones & Niemi. Can't have been many teams at that time with two first choice international goalkeepers in their squads.

Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Saints - Post-match reaction thread
Steel City Saint replied to stevegrant's topic in The Saints
A good win for us. Played really well the first half and had a few really good chances which we just didn't finish. Lambert looks really awful. A bit better in the second half trying to bring people in to play but not in any sort of form. Davis made two great saves at the end. the one from the free kick was good but he'd have been criticised if it had gone in. The one at the very end was a genuine fingertip save and it just pushed the ball past the post. Cheers to Nigel for coming across to see the fans and the way he went to every player as he came across suggests he knows his man management skills. -
Oh I remember that. Think I took the wife to be with me. Bart-Williams got a hatrick. Thought I'd got over it but you brought it back! Going on Saturday with my daughter.

I guarantee that you are wrong. We will score again with them in charge.

I love threads like this! Funny, funny, funny...and still no one has any idea about who the next manager will be... -
Does cheating matter, yes it does, always. Does it always get punished? No. Does it sometimes bring reward? Yes. Whatever the result the bottom line is it shows you something about a person and that matters.

Prediction: Unrealistic expectations on a Saturday morning...still. Jardi disappoints as does Papa Waigo. We all drown ourselves.

Does anyone here go to games on their own

Usually alone. -
Wants him to play at CB as cover for Perry!

Somebody replies yesterday to an e-mail that died a natural death in early June and all of a sudden it is back on politics and general nonsense. Can this be locked or at least be moved off the football part of the forum?

Very sensible. Very true. Happy days!

I'm in! -
Not disappointed to see him go. My lasting memory of him (and I'm pretty sure it WAS him) was in the away game at Sheffield Wednesday when he held on to the corner flag, gave a way a free kick, they went up the other end and their fat keeper scored.

Wow, are we having an oldest mug competition? I've got one upstairs (just checked) which dates back to the 80s. It has a great big crack in it (has done for years) so no hot drinks anymore but happy with cold water for washing paint brushes in! Don't fix the mug, uses it with the broken handles like a real man!

A great goal scorer and a scorer of great goals. A combination rarely found in any player. That said, almost anyone can come up with a Goal of the Season contender once in a while. Other efforts off the top of my head (excluding MLT): Trevor Sinclair' overhead kick (as you said) Scholes/Di Canio volleys from corner/cross (and I think someone from Charlton did one too) Zola's flick from the corner Ginola did one like MLT off the thigh then volley (but was European game I think) Henry flick and volley There was a Villa one in the 90's where almost everyone touched he ball before Dalian Atkinson finished it off Giggs in the FA Cup semi versus Arsenal Still, no more than one each and you could name 6-8 of Matty's and give this lot a run for their money.
-
Any time he touched the ball in the penalty area and didn't give away a penalty. Oh, and the headed goal that was disallowed (against West Ham?? by Uriah Rennie??)

I wasn't his biggest fan when he arrived but he has served us well and was magnificent this season. I would be happy to have him around for the next few years and quite honestly don't think we deserve him. Well done Kelvin.

Interesting Comments from Burnley Fans
Steel City Saint replied to Ian the Red's topic in The Saints
Does ANYBODY really believe that post? I'm not convinced in the slightest. Why would a Burnley fan lie about them starting any trouble and choose to blame it on a Pompey fan...hmmm...I wonder?
