No need to start him yet assuming all are fit (excluding Danny Ings) and then if everything is going well, possibly introduce him late on for the experience and to protect/rest one of the others. A late goal from N'Lundulu would do wonders and definitely give us options if anyone else gets injured.

9 points would be "dreamworld" but not impossible. 7 points (2 wins and a draw) would be pretty damn good. Even 6 (two wins and a loss) would be good. 5 points (2 draws and a win - keeping the unbeaten record) wouldn't be disastrous. Any less than that based on current form would be disappointing.

I was a pro-Walcott signing and in the two games he has played I think he has proved his worth. Running at defenders with pace in today's football climate, the slightest touch by a defender will bring free kicks and penalties, hopefully in dangerous places, and we now have the the ideal weapon (JWP) to cash in on those free kicks. a goal from him would be great. Look what Che Adams has become once he got that blinder against City. Yes, Theo is probably on big money, but remember, he didn't cost us a transfer fee. If he carries on playing like he has so far, there may well be a fee to pay next year.

I never thought I'd say (or see) this. I've just watched Jack Grealish play three quarters of a game of football and I don't think he fell over once. I reckon Southgate's had a word. Obviously a Villa tactic (some of their other players have started doing it as well) and not England.

Many thanks for posting the interview. There's a lot of positive stuff in there. Obviously values the trust he has with Semmens and the club. Positive news about Danny Ings too. Realistic view on Saints chances of a top ten finish, but there is also a suggestion between the lines that we can better that. Interesting comments about PEH too. His Missus is happy too "in the South of England" which sounds like they are well settled. (Wasn't Puel's wife unhappy in England?......no excuse for the boring football though, I know) Our Ralph is no mug. He knows what he's doing! 92 clubs in the English Football League and I reckon between 85 and 87 of them wish they had our manager!

It's a horrible thought, but imagine an international footballer (possibly a high-profile player) dies from Covid 19 having been on international duty (whether it be for a meaningless friendly or some tin-pot competition), the outcry that would cause would be immense. The footballing authorities wouldn't have a leg to stand on. It would probably see the end to all internationals for some considerable time and may even halt domestic football for a long time. These internationals (as SW5 Saint says above) are reckless and unnecessary. Some would say dangerous.

Joe Gomez injured on the England camp now. Could be a serious knee injury apparently. Gone back to Dipperland for scans . Southgate not sounding positive. I don't know where Jannik is with his contract at the moment, but methinks, based on his performances so far this season, maybe we need to secure him with a new contract or extension.......and I never thought I'd say that about the lad based on previous seasons. The transition has been remarkable.

For one, with my selfish Saints hat on, I am pleased JWP has pulled out of the England squad. Personally, the way he is playing at present I think he would be as big a miss for us as Danny Ings and maybe even more so. He is driving that midfield (big credit to Romeu as well by the way) and so much of our game is going through him. It's not a World Cup. it's not even the Euros (I don't think) in fact I'm not sure what it is. JWP has played every minute since the first lockdown (as far as I know) and deserves a rest.

No reason at all to fear them. They are a good outfit no doubt, but so are we. Having watched a couple of their recent games they don't seem to be clicking quite as they were last season and as mentioned above I think they are missing Jota and Doherty, It'll be a tight game, but if we can play as we did against Newcastle, Villa and Everton then I think we can nick a result. Need to score early though as they are definitely a second half team.

I expect when they form their European Super League they'll be able to bring on 11 subs, have 15 players on the pitch at one time if their club name begins with the letter L and have 2 goalkeepers in goal at one time as well. Shut up Klopp and get on with it. I wonder what what would happen if we lost a couple of our best players to injury including our top scorer.......I haven't heard Ralph moaning.

I thought I'd bump this thread up the list. I'm liking "the sash". Personally I think if this season carries on in the way it has for the last six games (OK I know there's a long way to go) we need to start a campaign on here to KEEP THE SASH. I reckon the sash has secret powers!!!

Everton's star seems to be fading pretty quickly and Leeds are being found out at the back. Hopefully it will dampen the media's love affair with both of these clubs. Meanwhile I wonder what our blue neighbours are making of all this.........like i give a f***

I don't do Twitter and all that stuff but my son (a Saints fan living in Cambodia) sent me this quote from (apparently) an official Saints Twitter account last night and I think it's brilliant so thought I'd post it here. It took me a few seconds to get it... Apologies if it has been posted elsewhere on here. As of last night.....and indeed tonight.... "Southamptons A and B team 1st and 2nd in the league!" ......if you don't get it as I say, it took me a while, take a look at the Premier League table tonight. It may change tomorrow once our "B team" have played Man City.

I can't remember who posted it here, but after 2 games (which we lost) that person was asking for Ralph to go and to get Big Sam in. I commented at the time and suggested we see where we were after 10 games.......never thinking we'd actually be top. Just thought I'd mention it again and hope your mattress has dried out by now! On a more serious note, I know Ralph recently signed a new deal. We need to extend that contract asap - and give him a pay rise - just to keep the "sniffers" away.

It seems we don't do scrappy goals anymore. And that save by McCarthy was MASSIVE!!!!!

So we can't be at the ground to watch and celebrate this together, but for those of us that are keeping the candle burning on this website, we share the lows and the highs together and so from me to everyone on here and Saints fans everywhere - CONGRATULATIONS! It may only be temporary but damn it feels good.

It was never going to be a good time for Danny Ings to get injured for us. Perhaps better though, that we already have 13 points in the bag rather than being stuck around the relegation zone on 3 points. If Theo stays fit, that could be a very good and timely bit of business for us. A goal for him on Friday would do wonders.

A shrewd call to make him captain as well. I think his game has improved enormously since he was made captain, and he seems to be handling the extra responsibility well and seems to have galvanized the players around him as well. He seems level headed, polite intelligent and his interviews are very good. If he can become a regular England starter then maybe Southgate will recognise this and hand him the England armband as well. That would surely be a feather in the cap for Saints. One would imagine his value has already soared in recent times as well.

Imagine JWP and Grealish in the same England team. Grealish can keep falling over on the edge of the penalty area, something he does very well, thereby completely fooling the referee into giving a free kick and JWP can bang in the free kick. It's a World Cup winning formula!!!!

I think if, two weeks ago, someone had offered us a 2-0 comfortable win against top of the table Everton and 3-4 away, against a "high flying Villa , albeit with a dodgy last few minutes, all resulting in us being third in the table, most of us on here may well have bitten their hand off. Well done Ralph. Well done lads. Fingers firmly crossed on the injuries.
