  1. When people were taking cargo from washed up containers in Devon last time, some commentators made an awful lot of fuss about nothing. There was an awful lot of bull about Pikeys and rubbish of that nature. Frankly, if they made use of it, then it was better than letting it go to waste, which would have undoubtedly been the case of a lot of it. The private loss of stuff was just unfortunate. I doubt if anybody will cut up so rough about this wood, and yet people should dive on it just as quickly: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7845003.stm
  2. Can't do just F1 circuits because that's unfair. But I will restrict it to current/proposed F1 and MotoGP otherwise I'll be including Brands, Croft, Snetterton, Isle Of Man, Montreal, Paul Ricard, etc... and be here all night. So here goes a top 10 in reasonable order, as of this moment [i think]: 1. Mugello* 2. Laguna Seca 3. Sachsenring 4. Phillip Island 5. Spa Francochamps 6. Monza 7. Assen** 8. Misano 9. Sepang 10. Jerez *Owned by Ferrari and utterly brilliant as a motorcycling circuit. ** Though it's worse since they modified it. I don't think Silverstone is that good, or Donnington for that matter. And I can't stand Interlagos either. Frankly, I can never see the attraction. Brands Hatch is still a little cracker, but it's not current or proposed at the moment, and I'm not including any other race classes, as said before.
  3. You know why 'Arry is so good..? Cause none of the pundits will step out of line and say he isn't.
  4. What about if Milan Mandaric said... Hey..! I know somebody who'll buy you..? To be honest, I wouldn't automatically say NO.
  5. Couldn't agree more, Ponty. Utterly boring. Probably most boring, even.
  6. I would take the tiniest issue with you, but it's just semantics really. My bucket would fill up thus: Board goes And then everything else flows from that [if flow is in keeping with the theme].
  7. Yeah, what a goal. Missed it LIVE, as I was working. Seen it loads ever since. One of the best goals ever, bar none. Tbh, though there are too many goals to have a favourite. Any brilliant Matty goal just makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Usually it's one I've quite forgotten about, and catches me by surprise when I view it again. An example of which, is another goal against Liverpool at The Dell during a winter match, and the game had just started. Long ball up the right to Ian Dowie, who headed it down into the path of Le Tiss, who met the ball so plumb when he hit it that, from 35-40 yards out, the ball never got above a foot off the ground, and Bruce Grobbelaar started diving when the ball hit the back of the net. It was absolutely electrifying. Of course, another Le Tissier hat-trick completed the night's enjoyment. Was there ever a better striker of a ball than Matty..? I don't think anyone comes remotely close.
  8. As you know Tim, this is something that Give It To Ron has discussed and continues to discuss. We've talked about Ron coming over here and doing the rounds, and it's entirely possible, but the bottom line is, is Ron willing to do it, when he gets better..? You know and I know that Ron is a modest chap, who'll talk for hours over a drink about times past, but he's careful to stay out of the limelight. He obviously loves it in New Mexico, and who can blame him..? And what with the turmoil the club is currently going through, I'd hate a visit by Ron and Chris to be marred by the upset of the club, being on it last legs, in the background. There's plenty of time to make a decision, and your excellent work out there is certainly not done yet.
  9. To be honest, there are plenty of dull races in F1, but it's not the fault of the circuits all the time. Although Magny Cours was unexpectedly super dull from the first day it took over from the Paul Ricard circuit for the French Grand Prix. The Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal was never that dull, and that is a big fat foot-up-the-arse job from Bernie Ecclestone there. I loathe the Hungaroring. It's all a modern race circuit is, and consequently has no soul whatsoever. And the racing is as dull as dishwater. Older tracks like Spa Francochamps, Brands Hatch, Monza, and actually Imola [san Marino GP] do have something about them. Even Hockenheim used to be different with its huge long straights, and now they've buggered that up. Variety is the spice, and they're trying to make all the venues similar. Even the old Suzuka track in Japan p!sses all over the replacement they use now [can't be bothered to look it up]. Bring back Brooklands, I say..! EDIT: Oh yeah, and Valencia's crap too.
  10. Get a Haynes manual, if you haven't got one and a half decent set of tools. Then turn to the page dealing with door and window mechanisms and you'll see that actually they're all quite simple. It's getting at them that requires the manual.
  11. Well traction control was taken away last season, and Kimi Raikkonen immediately became out of sorts. He may be an excellent driver; they all are, let's face it. But I think, in his case, there was more than missing motivation last season.
  12. Hopfully, gone to do something better than replying to this.
  13. OK Robsk, this may be TMS, and the woman may not be an oil painting, I'm sure she's made acutely aware of that from everyday references to beauty in the media. But if the woman was introduced to you, would you say it to her then..? Of course not. Sorry mate, but decent blokes aren't allowed to get away with offensive jokes, however which way they couch them.
  14. Which is why, when the chips are down, I don't go in for Pompey bashing. I find no joy in another's depression. Like the Cherries, they are the club down the road, and unlike Bournemouth, they are having their days in the sun again. They've waited long enough to come back. The vast majority of us Saints fans still have vivid memories of the Premiership, which is why the present predicament is still so incredible to us. I'm hoping our time will come again soon, but Pompey had to wait over 50 years with a sniff at the big time in the late 80's. That's almost a fan's lifetime of waiting, and you'd have to doubly dedicated to stay around that long.
  15. I suspect most posters have no idea the option is available.
  16. I always get the impression with Danny Kelly that he's a bit of a Saints supporter circa 1990 odd era. As if, from a neutral's perspective, he really loved the adventurous Chris Nicholl sides from way back then. And who can blame him..? Pretty damn good football that would skin this division without trying. It was one of the times when I was far away from watching the lads, most of the time, and is one of my regrets that I wasn't around all the time.
  17. Common misnomer that cuckoo clocks were invented in Switzerland, just because Orson Welles said so [yeah Zurich is Bavaria, but it's near]. Anyway, they weren't. :smt012
  18. I give up. Someone can tell me about it, or I'll search Talksport's listen again facility.
  19. I wouldn't go that far Steve. In a small overcrowded island country, land will always have a value. Though, fact is, in 3-4 years time, Jackson's Farm will be worth a lot more than it is now. There you go. This Board even gets its adminstration timing at the worst possible moment.
  20. Not been on yet, as far as I know. As usual with Talksport and any SKY programme, the announcers broadcast what's coming up in about 6 hours or so, knowing people will gather around.
  21. This was actually a question I asked myself last week. To bring harmony back to SFC I think we need a wholesale clearout of the entire Board by having someone buy the club out. If that means adminstration to make the club attractive and inevitable relegation, then so be it. And I say that through gritted teeth.
  22. One for Theo Paphitis perhaps.
  23. That was a one-off in a once a season competition, where a significant proportion of the crowd have come to see the opposition. Many may have even been ManU supporters from the Hampshire catchment area [and don't get started on home grown football fans who feel they have to support some side a couple of hundred miles away which they have absolutely no connection with]. It's not even remotely representative of Saints supporters [hard core or occasional] overall feelings to the club.
  24. Good one..!
  25. Have to say that Milan came along at the right time and saved Pompey. He made a nice tidy sum out of them, and fair play to that, that's his prerogative. Portsmouth's woes in the past are well documented, if not well remembered. I believe it was the setting up of a professional Pompey basketball team that finally started the slide into the horror show that followed. Hopefully, Saints won't go through that particular maze before the recovery happens, and thanks for the lack of goading. It's more than this club deserves in some respects.
