The parting of Pulis and Crystal Palace makes sense to me - the timing, however, is way off. Given how much money Pulis actually spent at Stoke (more than £100M from 2008-2013 if I'm correct), his results were not that amazing. Quite possibly Parish realised that the funds were not there to give Pulis the players that he wants and that the results were not guaranteed to improve much even if they spend lavishly. Given their recent history of economic meltdown, I can only applaud a chairman that doesn't overspend. Meanwhile, Pulis has been able to lean back and make unrealistic demands knowing that if they were not met he could get another job at a desperate PL club in half a year. Nice little situation for him... The timing could have been better for Palace, though

Sorry if already mentioned - according to this Danish article, the agent of Lokeren defender Alexander Scholz has mentioned Saints and Sunderland as interested in signing his player: http://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/fodbold/udenlandsk_fodbold/engelsk_fodbold/PremierLeague/article4959881.ece He's a CB/RB and would cost around €2-3M. Celtic seems to be front runners on this one though...

The appeal was ignored so the new strategy is to sidetrack the discussion and talk about songs for Gardos. My best bet would be "Guide Us, O Thou Great Jehovah" that has the line: "Let the fiery, cloudy pillar guard us to this holy home." Obviously Gardos is the pillar and St Mary's the holy home. Perfect? Yes, I know...

Very good news. Given our current situation we're fairly easy to excite when it comes to players staying, but he does say all the right things. Had a bad spell in the spring of 2012, but the presence of Lovren seemed to galvanise him again. I hope he is able to take charge in defense again, especially if we bring in some beast to take the heavy challenges...

Would be a massive success for Koeman if he could help Gaston realise some of that potential that is undoubtedly there. The optimist in me hopes for him to be a big hit this season. The cynic in me acknowledges that while he may not, at least he'll be given a fair chance this season...
