  1. Who was completely exonerated from any allegations of child abuse and received substantial damages as a result. For that example you give above, if I were you I would check some facts before inferring guilt upon innocent people. This internet thing is serious business you know - you never know who may be snooping on your posts . http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/jan/19/lord-mcalpine-of-west-green
  2. No it isn't. It has potential if it has the right planning consent and when i look at developers i know turning away from 18 out of 20 sites they view, it is hardly a "given".
  3. What are house builders if not "speculators"? They certainly don't start building only after they've sold all their properties off plan, what a bizarre notion. They take a chance on the market and when the market dries up, as it did in 2008 with a cut in the supply of funding, they take a bath - witness all those developers who went out of, or very nearly went out of, business during the last 6 years.
  4. I wonder if NC will continue to provide the catering at SMS now? His company, St Marys Catering Ltd turned in a very healthy £2.872m turnover with pre tax profits of £488k in the last set of accounts. Some cynical types might suggest this is not bad dough if one is, hypothetically, in charge of providing contracts and agreeing to prices between parties where there is a common owner. Of course i wouldn't dare suggest this, just merely speculating. Those same people may also want to extend the view that a request for accountability as being a fair and reasonable request.
  5. He did reasonably well with the money he has had to spend. He made wholesale changes at the Club, some for the better, some not, but at least he had conviction and the desire to see that conviction through, with results showing in a short space of time. I know he treated some staff shabbily, but others seemed to like him very much - presumably, in the main, those he brought into the Club. He will always be a controversial figure, but the Club won't implode just because he's gone. Can't quite understand some of the fawning on this board over him, but on balance he was a decent chairman at a time when a bit of backbone was needed.
  6. Maybe that Company couldn't be turned around? Anecdotes from snippets of information don't necessarily mean she is a bad businesswoman. Time will tell how she views this particular part of her portfolio and I would like to think she shares the same ethics as her old man did and should she want the club sold, will sell it to the best people and in the best way.
  7. Does this mean the Jonas Brothers won't play a gig at our new super stadium now? FFS
  8. Spot on. He's always wanted control of the Club, so this is just some more media pressure to get there. I would be very surprised if he hasn't either got a) the money or b) a collective who has got the money to buy the Liebherr estate out. He has had something at SFC he couldn't get elsewhere - a chance to create something from a blank canvas. He wouldn't get that anywhere else.
  9. Not me, fortunately, but a good friend of mine had to take his daughters to a Bieber concert at the 02, ended up waiting for hours to get in and then had to hang around until after the concert finished (by which time the trains had stopped - i think it was a Sunday?) so had to pay for a cab to get back home. Cost him a fortune with travel and with the tickets and all. I'm sure when my nippers get a bit older, then they will demand something similar.
  10. http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/pochettino-clattenburg-matter-over-29902910.html So, MP says he has no problem with Clattenburg being a ref for one of our future games. Suggests the affair has blown over and SFC are not going to pursue this action any further. So what's the result? A load of negative publicity without any end product? Or will Clattenburg be overly lenient to us for one game in the future? Probably not, but good to see sense is prevailing.
  11. About 15 years ago I effectively walked out of a job - handed my resi in and didn't work my notice. In hindsight, it wasn't a very clever thing to do and I should have left on better terms. You asked for consequences, well, in my case it lost me some credibility with ex colleagues, which at the time I didn't really think about. However, about 6 years ago I bumped into one of those ex colleagues at the races and there was a definite problem there. I thought the industry was much bigger than it really is. The older you get and the higher up the tree you go, the industry became a smaller place and you may come across people who categorise you in a negative way. Other than that though, there were no other recognisable consequences and for me, it didn't hinder any future progression (left the job for a much better role anyway - which was the reason for leaving so promptly). Good luck with your decision though spudders, although i'd be tempted to see out the 4 months - it will fly by.
  12. Rumbled.
  13. Job before clunge or clunge before job. Personally i'd stay in germany for a few months and try to bang some local clout.
  14. Southampton now say: “Under the circumstances we do not feel it appropriate for Mr Clattenburg to officiate in any of our matches until this matter is properly resolved.” This is a disgraceful attempt to mess with a man’s career after he has been exonerated of a feeble charge. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/10550189/Adam-Lallana-and-Mark-Clattenburg-prove-we-need-to-record-the-on-field-conversations.html Example of national media coverage highlighting the pitiful action by the Club. Same has been seen with comments by pundits on TV. Feel sorry for AL as it seems pretty obvious he isn't driving this, yet he is the butt of all the quips and jokes.
  15. Good reply, well done. Enlighten me. Get what exactly? Over reaction by the Club against benign comments between officials and players? Pointless requests for a particular Ref to not officiate our matches because of said benign comments? Failure for a ref to give us a peno? If it had been the other way around with Everton acting like this, there would have been a plethora of posts on this forum saying they were sore losers, unable to take ref's decisions and crying like girls over player / ref banter. So why is it different for us? Were their legions of fans calling for the ref action after JRod's dive for a peno at Villa last season which got us 3 points? After all, in the interests of fairness, it has to be both ways, huh? I tell you what I don't get, that's the continually increasing precious attitude of SFC fans. As Lineaker says, time to man up. The Club are in danger of being seen as acting like a stroppy adolescent and, IMHO, too many fans are just as bad.
  16. Always excited by the FA Cup, but unfortunately the Cup won't be seen as anywhere near as important as it should be as we should now, according to "popular" opinion, supposedly concentrate on achieving mid table PL mediocrity at the expense of a fun cup run (can't have both - obviously), so I fully expect the second string to perform somewhere near their most average and narrowly lose to a Burnley side wanting it far more, in the last five minutes. I hope I am proved wrong, but won't be surprised if not.
  17. Agree with this 100%. Time for the club to STFU and not pursue this kind of precious whinging. If what Clattenburg said is what I have read on this forum, then what is the big deal? It's seems ok for players to fire all the f**ks under the sun into ref's, but one insignificant comment back and the Club can't take it. I wonder if AL is happy with this being pursued and his name being linked to it? It would be interesting to know. IMHO, too much pansying around with side issues instead of concentrating on what is really important, getting rid of this crap run of form and getting some results behind us.
  18. Dislike Everton almost as much as Skates. From their poncey nickname to their overblown sense of self worth via their inferiority complex with The Proper Scouse and their self delusion at not being taken seriously with footballs elite, they annoy me. Love it when they get worked over by anyone. Can't stand watching images like that powderpuff owner crying his eyes out when the Sweat left then for the Mancs. I want us to batter them.

    Danny Fox

I normally defend Fox as he's a good lad, but he had a poor game today. Running away from the striker for the first goal instead of trying to get in front / put him off, letting Adebayour through for his second when he should have tracked back until the danger was cleared - all pretty basic stuff really. He never got forward to support JRod / Lallana / Lambert on the left (apart from cutting in once for AL's goal) and when he did eventually forage past the half way line in the 2nd half, he didn't seem to interested in getting back. I can understand his head may drop when the petty name calling starts, but there were some really basic errors to his game today and all the defence (except Chambers) had the jitters. It showed that Chambers was more impressive in 15mins as a left back than Fox was for 75.
  20. Oh dear! Fox, Hooiveld and Gazza were very poor. Lovren started to lose the plot towards the end. Maybe a couple of half decent loans to replace those 3 and be back up is no bad thing. Lallana superb though. Rickie looked fed up, even after his goal. Anyone know if anything is going on with him in the background?
  21. Same as every other year (which is no problem at all) - selection of books, a bottle of Single Malt, socks and the current Viz Annual which has me laffing well into the new year. Perfect.
  22. We could do with a good cup run. Don't understand all this "save ourselves for the league" pony, especially as we'll be mid table at best, come May. A good cup run is good for the soul of the club and the city as a whole. 2003 was a brilliant run and some memorable days out. And I bet the players look back on that fondly, especially when they are remembered as a Cup finalist. What good is it to a player to say "yeah I never played in a cup final, but I did come 10th in the PL a few times". Big yawn! Seriously though, let's take the cup seriously and make a bloody good fist of trying to win it, if only to rub it in more to those fishy f***pigs down the road.
  23. Hopefully he knows that there is a better than even chance of being found out in games now, so he's adapting to suit with a "plan b" strategy. We will see over the coming weeks I guess. Also it could be a seasonal thing. Too much training in the winter can be detrimental to the mental health too. Well it is for me anyway! Really looking forward to the next few games to see how the fringe players perform. The best motivation to the regular first teamers is to know that there is a fringe player more than filling their shoes and I think we've been a little too settled recently with the team selection. Not a criticism, more of an observation.
  24. The fella has hardly played this season and then he's expected to come on and play like Messi. Give him a few games to get into the swing and he'll be very useful over the busy Xmas period, where we will need to stretch the squad. He's a good lad and he'll do alright. Criticism for last night is harsh.
