  1. A good few years ago I was stranded at Izmir airport and had to take a dump. Aside from Fratton Park, it's the most horrific khasi i have ever been into and that was just the airport. I am led to believe it has been modernised since that time, but it left a mental scar.
  2. Interesting stuff. Whilst I have no problem with the Board not providing regular "updates" when there is nothing to say, there appear to be some behind the scenes failings which, on face value, indicate weakness and naivety. This will not bode well for the summer market. None of us know how the Board operate, but if players aren't getting answers, the manager is hawking his CV without consequence and the PR Dept have gone to the beach, the whole thing can unravel very quickly - external forces will see to that.
  3. They have generally been at the head of the chasing pack in la liga for a number of years, so IMHO the comparison is difficult to make with Saints. And in the last few years they have won the intertoto cup, cops del rey, Europa cup and supercup! Whereas we rest players for fa cup games. I agree with crab lungs above-add 5 really good players, keep the squad together and there is a chance in the future, but highly unlikely now. Nice thought though!
  4. Covering all the bases. I like that.
  5. The figures in the OP link were up to 30th June 2013, before Osvaldo and Wanyama were signed, so presumably don't include for that particular bit of trading? I'm sure someone can verify. For info of OP looking at the 64m current liabilities, they are split into; Creditors - trade creditors 2,552k group loans 8,253k deferred income / accruals 16,618k tax 5,096k Financial Current Liabilities hp 8k other short term loans 18,099k Other liabilities - 13,513k Add in long term liabilities of £10,409k Total liabilities of 74,550k Does this tell us that the "equity" is split between long term and short term loans or is the short term loan the borrowing for the training ground?? Can't be arsed to delve too deeply as I know someone else will know!
  6. Eddie Howe.
  7. IMHO we are still a long way behind both Spurs and Everton. They finished 13 and 16 points ahead of us and that's with Spurs taking on a Europa Cup campaign too. That is a lot of points to make up and a gap that would require a substantial amount of money to bridge, which is something we don't appear to have now. Whilst Everton may struggle with a Europa campaign next season, both United and Spurs should be stronger next season. If the top 4 recruit, which they will, then the divide will get bigger and more difficult to aspire too. We don't look as though we are going to delve too deep into our pockets and may well only spend what we recoup in sales along with a few million to try and consolodate. But i'd be chuffed with another season like this one, with maybe a better cup run!
  8. Perhaps you should have gone to this one and then provided a more insightful, perceptive and lucid account yourself?
  9. Yep, values do go up if agents know we have a few bob in the back bin. I wonder who from the board will conduct the transfer negotiations for players? Do they have the hard nose to battle it out defending mickey taking bids for our lads and putting the hammer onto clubs we want players from? Let's hope they are up to the task. One thing I suspect is that LR and MP would have identified the players they want to supplement the squad as it stands as well as contingency plans for squad reinforcement should we sell any players. It will be an interesting summer and I hope the general pessimism surrounding players leaving is tempered with some good news prior to the start of next season.
  10. Any chance of a lift to the Mersey?
  11. Don't agree fella. 8th was a high bar, not a minimum expectation, set by The Don I guess. IMHO he's a terrific manager and I'd be very happy for him to stay next season. But his stock has risen and he'll be courted by a few, although I hope the recent managerial nonsense at Spurs will put him off that poison chalice in favour of a long stay here. He'll get better, the team will get better and as fans we will all benefit. Any change to the manager will be disruptive and negative, so let's hope he is supported by the Board and signs on that dotted line!
  12. Couldn't give a toss about it. Quality is more important to me tbh. Supermarkets peddling cheap sh!tty bacon, beef, lamb and chicken need a slap more than Subway. It is a fuss about nothing I reckon.
  13. It's no problem fella. Made the decision after the second was born as we both decided we were getting a bit long in the tooth to have anymore. No problems with the after effects except for a small bit of scar tissue on the incisions which itches from time to time, but I understand that these days the procedure is far less intrusive, so that sorts that out. And the missus was convinced that I had to get regular nosh and s hags for 3 months afterwards until they all disappeared. Makes it easier now too, not having to fanny about with the nightfighters and all that. Plus they seemed to do the ops on a Thursday and you are told to rest up for the whole weekend, so you can milk that and get waited on for the next 3 days. But don't be tempted to bang one out after a day or two like a mate of mine did. Let's just say he had to go back in to get a re-stitch!
  14. Can't we just stick with "Plastic" thereby aligning peasant forum members with fans who don't go to games very often so they suffer the same shame and humiliation? And yes, I count myself amongst those ranks, before the bleeding obvious is pointed out. Seriously though, I've seen descriptions of posters on other forums that differ from the Full Member or Registered User tag, so I guess that is easy to do? Instead of Full Member or Registered User, why don't the Mods use a wee bit of humour and label posters according to consensus. Tags like Trollmeister, Big Girls Blouse, Forum Bore, Conspiracy Nutter, etc could be used to alert posters to potential M.O? Just putting it out there, like. I can think of a few who could be classed as a Country Member........ (only joking chaps).
  15. Good shout. If Morgan goes to Arsenal, then I think he'd be good as he is strong, quite skillful and knows where the goal is.If Morgan stays, probably not.
  16. For me, JRod's goal at Fulham, not just for the goal, but the exceptional pass from Lambert. Osvaldo's goal was superb but he almost got the ball caught up between his feet (pedantic i know!). Lallana's against Hull was brilliant and I really liked JRod's against Cardiff (his second) for the build up play. It's good that there are a lot of cracking goals to choose from!
  17. Not sure about having him back as he is such a loose cannon. Wonder if he'll get a call up for Italy in the WC squad? If he doesn't he may realise he's a nob and buckle down next season, but it's a big IF!
  18. I can imagine mate. A thankless task that is never appreciated by the easily offended.
  19. Perhaps all the fok complaining about the Mods should have a go themselves. Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins and all that. Far be from me to suggest it is the easiest thing in the world to whine about others when you have no intention of trying it out yourselves, but may I suggest they post on this thread their willingness to carry out the role and I'm sure the current band of mods would love to be shown how to do the role properly.
  20. Why don't all the whingers set up their own forum? Too much like hard work I guess. If you say this place is crap, then just f**k off and do something else instead? Why subject yourself to something you don't like. I know. You secretly love it and can't resist coming on here calling GS, Turkish, CB Fry, etc a shower of c***s. You love it you dirty forum slags, love it. Stop whinging, harden up and get posting.
  21. If anyone feels"bullied" by posters on this forum, then they really should quit and sign up to a Cbeebees forum instead.
  22. Is it really true that some keyboard warriors feel the need to "meet up" to prove their existence to people they don't know?!! Jesus, SG is right, some do take this far too seriously. Kind of reminds me of the "see you in the car park after school" where handbags were thrown and hair was pulled!!
  23. I'd love to see Clyne get a shout for the initial squad, but i fear the way RH wants his team to play, Clyne may not appear in his plans. Love to be proved wrong though.
  24. ONLY if it is a positive one that is both aligned to the general SW forum views (as posted by soft lads and knicker-******ers) and does not in any way besmirch the virtuous name of SFC. If neither of these are met, then the opinion is null and void and should be treated with utter contempt. Not only that, the Opiner shall also be subject to personal attack, belittling of their previous footballing career and general character assisination by the forum intelligencia whose cumulative experience on FIFA / FM, etc gives them far more shrewd insight into the workings of the modern football world than any former professional player. I thought you'd have known this by now!
