  1. Perhaps some gay footballers prefer to keep their private life private. They could be perfectly happy with their life and don't need it disrupted by a bunch of flag waving do-gooders being offended on their behalf. And why do they have to "come out" FFS? I've ever understood why homosexual people are told they have to make their sexuality public knowledge? If they chose to, then that's fair enough, but if they don't want to, then they shouldn't be made too. And is it really expected that anyone would be "influenced" by the chants of a football crowd? I suspect not.
  2. In the 2nd half yesterday there were 4 or 5 instances of us breaking through the middle with 4 on 4 or 4 on 3 (with Morgan breaking alongside some of the front players), but either our final player first touch was bad or or last pass was wrong. I don't think think there was too much wrong apart from trying to walk the ball into the net. I agree that Gaston should be used more, but (imho) the midfield wasn't as ineffective as some suggest. But it is telling tha Morgan had our best chances.
  3. Poor game. Still letting signings gel into team (except lovren). First touches need to be worked on. Seem to have lost some bite and try to walk the ball into the net. Perfect game for 25 yard shots dipping in front of keeper but neither team tried this. Strange.
  4. Mikey, I get the impression that the "Sales" section is teeming with people on the blower, but the "Complaints" or "Enquiries" section of the same call centre is like the Mary f**king Celeste, except for some stoner in the corner who is the actual face of the "we care about your call" guff they fart out down the phone line when one is trying to contact them. I'd be obliged if you could verify this impression i have.
  5. Lambert did ok first half as the game was a little more open and things were a bit more lively, but the 2nd half he was pretty cr@p and got caught out dithering too often, was guilty of wayward passing and hardly won a header. However, most of the England team were also cr@p in the second half, so he didn't look out of place. But if he turned in a perfomance like that for Saints, we'd all be disappointed. If that had been Carroll on the pitch, the assessment, on this forum, of the CF performance last night would be a lot different. Lambert is maybe OK as an impact player for England, but not as a main striker. Adkins knew his worth as an impact player and maybe Woy will view him the same way, but he will have to fight for a 4th choice striker berth on the plane to Rio (if we get there!). Hopefully it has given him a real lift though and he should be on a high from it, which can only have a positive impact on his performances for Saints. He knows he has to score goals to put himself in the picture for the summer, so let's hope he starts banging in the goals. But two tough games, the travel and all the hype will have taken it's toll and i think he will play 60 minutes max for us this weekend as he's not used to it. Maybe he will be too knackered to start, solving MP's selection headache by putting DO up front on his own on Sunday? It will be interesting to see who is played.
  6. I think Wilshere and Milner must have missed the "Learn how to pass to a team mate" lessons
  7. He's got Walker in his pocket. He looks mustard.
  8. OP Norm, not you.
  9. A small Port was had before typing, judging by the time of the post. Is it what Private Eye call "tired and emotional"?
  10. Cork should be at RB. For me, JWP is playing cos he has will cover Chambers more. Too young for this game is Chambers. Think he will be exposed a lot today, WBA are a canny team.
  11. I wonder who the new target will be for the moronic boo boys now then? Guly and Fonte - don't get enough playing time? Gaston - worth a punt? Hooiveld - good shout? So get your money out Morlocks, i'm sure someone will run a book on it somewhere.
  12. Almost Rickie, almost.
  13. I'd love it if he went there and got a brace of goals, absolutely love it.
  14. Chambers is not ready for a start yet. He was OK yesterday but his awareness of opposition players and his positioning was poor. Plus we had nothing going forward down the right in the first half. He will get better with experience though. If Clyne is not fit, Cork gives the team better balance at RB. Personally I'd start with either Fox or Yoshida at LB. Fox isn't as bad as people make out, and will benefit from Wanyama just in front of the defence. Wanyama was excellent yesterday as was JRod. Can't wait until next week.
  15. As expected, inane drivel offered as answers. Firstly you are "fairly sure" you can judge police operational behaviour based upon a snapshot Sun photo? Really?!?! And from the same photo you think that, because you cannot see lots of blood gushing like a geyser, as you would do in say, Call of Duty or CSI Miami, for instance, that it is an obvious fake? And this is based upon a tabloid snapshot photo? Right ho. Oh, and there is a gun in easy reach too. I guess the perp should have watched all those Die Hard movies that you have eh? For Chrissssaaaakkkkeee why didn't he, like, yippeeekayahh muth****a, and nick the gun from the cops holster and fill the filth with bullets? Must be a set up?? If Bruce can do it, why can't this Perp? Can't be a true terrorist, must be an actor like in those movies? Oh he can't be or he'd know what to do?! Oh, hey!! Did you see what I did there! Seriously though, you question the ability of the terrorists? To question whether the murderers followed the best course of action possible exhibits a state of mind that actually considers the relative value of their actions, which in itself is worrying to read. Unfortunately, I again agree with Verbal, that reading your posts make me slightly uneasy. And the predictable response in the last paragraph, using the emotional argument (trying to shut down - really?!?!? I was asking you a question!) is quite the expected diversion. My point, was to ask you if you felt any sympathy at all for the deceased, anything at all. Worryingly, you obviously don't and Tim's suggestion on a previous post is not without foundation. Tell you what, seeing as you don't want to answer you own questions, if I get time I will ask a good mate of mine who is a Superintendent in HM Constab. He has spent a good few years working with SOCA and on armed response cases, orchestrating response to at least 2 that I know of. He will know about Police procedure and I know that when I say to him "Hey fella, my mate pap thinks that the cops were arseing about at Woolwich based upon what he saw in a Sun photo, what he watched on CSI and from those shoot-em-up games, what do you think?" I pretty much know what the response will be. But i'll ask him anyway. Actually, I can't be bothered. The previous suggestion of not responding and feeding this thread any further makes a lot of sense now. Let's hope the thread get's locked before the season starts as I've only got 21 posts until WBA.
  16. There is much of the classic persecution complex of the conspiracy theorist evident in this. You are not providing much "content" in the case of Woolwich, merely listing things that "concern" you. Therefore, if they concern you so much, what have you done to probe these concerns, short of more slavish googling? Have you enquired about the operational commitments of the Met that day? Have you compared to the Met average response time for such incidents? Have you made enquiries as to why you think regular PC's in the area didn't respond quickly enough for your liking? These are things you could do. Maybe, how about appraising yourself of Police protocol and standard responses in such major incidents? This may shed some light on some of your "concerns". But you wont. Why? Because it's much easier to sit in papland with a laptop and a broadband account, pumping out bullsh!t and watch the world from a screen whilst feverishly "defending" yourself against the self imposed notion that everyone else is out to assassinate your character. Which people are not doing btw, just pointing out what is so bleeding obvious, that you are, simply, away with the fairies. To base a non-opinion on a load of "concerns" that are themselves based upon nothing more than uneducated perceptions of, in this case, police protocol, military procedure, what you've seen on some slasher movie re: spurting blood, amateur mobile video, and, most laughable of all, "why didn't they kill more people, therefore it's a set up?" is truly staggering. But to continue with this in the absence of any credible evidence to answer your own questions is unbelievable. Then to finally list "the fuss" as being an area of concern, shows a huge lack of respect for the victim. A serving soldier gets murdered on the streets of this country in the most heinous way and you wonder what all the "fuss" is about? You have been called a loon on this and other threads. I want to add callous to that moniker. Simply unbelievable.
  17. This is pretty much the point behind all the waffle and childish sniping. Pap inferred he thought the whole thing was staged (i.e. there was no killing due to a lack of blood), on the original thread, based upon, presumably, nothing more than sitting at his laptop and feverishly trying to find anything online to justify the pre determined stance that there was some kind of conspiracy cover up by evil government forces. He did this without ever actually saying he thought it was a cover up, merely alluding to it. But in the face of rightful indignation, he didn't have the courage of any conviction to state what he actually thought, instead, later, focusing on the beheading element as a stick to inanely waffle on post after bleeding post about how awful the rest of us are at believing the official Government sponsored side of events and being small minded enough to accept what the papers say, etc, etc. So I guess he now accepts that there was a death and that the perps were actually the perps and that there is no "conspiracy" of any sorts, despite initial posts to the contrary. I seriously hope the end is now in sight, but very much doubt it as Verbal is spot on in his observation about him having to have the last, tedious f**king word.
  18. Good post and very well put. I'm not too sure your opening sentence has been echoed on other posts too often - it seems as though it's easier for people to be black or white in opinions (which are somewhat strentghened by the anonimity of a keyboard) . IMHO, I think the pre season work done with the players will have been more beneficial than last season. I have a sneaking feeling that our attacking options already in place will prove to be good value, if not set the PL alight, as both JR and AL consolidate their experience (and are more settled now - JR with relocation, AL with a young family) with more belief and flair that was a bit sporadic last "term". Lambert, will hopefully, operate with the mindset of a player who knows that realistically, he has maybe 2 seasons left at this level and will play with an honesty, calmness and intelligence which both brings players into and takes opposing players out of, our attacking thrust. Of course he did that a lot last year, but wasn't always supported well enough. If JR, AL/JP, GR and the solid midfielders can work as they finished last season and support SRL more often I think we can convert more chances this outing. For me the stats last season were quite revealing - game after game we created more than our fair share of goalscoring opportunities compared to teams around us, but failed to convert. I think we will be slightly more efficient this season and i hope the training has been working on that. I would like a big signing up front too, but even if nothing happens, I have a optimistic feeling about this coming season and am confident that the management staff have improved the squad - maybe not as much as we would have liked with signings - but as a collective unit that is greater than the sum of its parts in their belief and collaboration on the pitch. Allied to a season under the belt and I am hopeful we will be a more efficient team and will continue to grow, hopefully into a team that never occupies the bottom 8 places. And as the season starts, it means that this forum has a lot more stuff to occupy its time with and the quality of posts may get better -maybe!
  19. I met a bird in the pub the other week who had good "O" levels and excellent "A" levels, like, if that helps.
  20. More chance of getting a w@nk off the Pope. But nice to have ambition. IMHO PL clubs need to spend £15 - 20m to stand still, so will be disappointed if we don't sign up at least one more before the season begins.
  21. At first glance, i thought it was their squad list for the upcoming season.

    Go home

I wouldn't be suprised to see the Saintweb intelligencia pitching up outside SMS with a "Fack Off Foxy" and a "Go Home Guly" advert van on the first home game of the season.
  23. I've always thought Holloway was alright. I haven't met the fella, but he seems to come across as a likeable fool on the TV. Although, I can imagine being turned down for an autograph by someone like Holloway as permanently soul destroying.
  24. As a player he was alright. Unfortunately this thread is another example from the sizeable moronic element our fan base has. Neither funny nor informative. Just pathetic.

    It's a boy

I would be genuinely interested to find out how much of the "bringing up baby" they will actually do. I can't imagine for one minute that royal protocol will allow for anything other than a team of trained nanny's to wipe the royal arse when it has sh!t itself for the 8th time that day. I wonder how this will sit with Kate, being a pikey commoner and all, who probably expected that in her life she would do all the chores associated with having a baby before she started blowing the royal pipe at college? Or will it be more "relaxed" than that for the nippers early years, as the little ankle biter is whisked off to boarding school before he can even p1ss straight.
