  1. I agree with you. Against Everton, for me the evidence was there with Yoshida getting caught out more than 3 times by Anichebe after he came on and was playing just inside the channel, when Clyne was out of position. This seemed a very weak area for me, so i suspect we'll get caught out by that tonight if we are as open as the second half against Everton. If we are going to push the wide boys further forward more often, they really need to make sure they don't give away possession cheaply. Will be interesting tonight but i think an early goal for manure will set the tone and we'll go down fighting 3-1!
  2. Seems to me a perfectly reasonable comment from Joe. FC was the one who labelled those who concentrate on their career as "sad ****s" (we can only assume what the swear filter took out). But it is safe to assume the post from FC was nothing more thn a sweeping generalisation which appears to have little basis in fact. From my experiece of the few i know who work long hours in the City, they are neither happier nor more miserable than others. In fact a good friend of mine has a very happy life and is an excellent Dad, brother and friend despite the demands of long hours working in central London. But I tend to agree with Joe, although your diatribitic response was quite humourous, albeit slightly unfair. FC's post indicated a sense of self justification for not achieving the precious ambition of youth, although I am convinced FC will put me right on this! For my part, I hope to have steered the business through the choppy waters of economic uncertainty, finished off "doing up the house", learned a new skill and enjoyed some good times with friends and family.
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4ttDR3275Y Quite honestly, if this is the quality of the clacker that is about to come onto these shores, then i suggest Cameron & Clegg kick the barriers down now and get the decent one's in early. All the *****rs can go to Germany. Or France. Just let in Romainian birds that look like this. I cannot see anyone having a problem with this, apart from British doris's who then have to shape up with the competition.
  4. I have an 11 year old son and a 7 year old daughter. Can honestly say it's been a pleasure so far, but i guess the teenage years are to come! Watching them grow and develop, gaining personality, exploring talents and mistakes, it is a terrific journey for a parent. Can't really add to what has been said already, but i would say don't beat yourself up trying to be the perfect parent, take time to step back and look at situations objectively, encourage but don't overburden them with expectation and above all enjoy it.
  5. I first joined the old Saintslist which was an email based forum thing. That was quite good at the time and iirc about '97/'98 ish. Was also on S4E with the same username. Seemed to be much more fun back then, much more banter, jokes and **** taking and a lot less people getting the hump over things and taking themselves too seriously. Some good posters and some fun threads. Seems to have taken a different turn now, but hey, i guess that's progress. Never been on the UI but remember b-anter.co.uk which was OK at times.
  6. Who was the long haired scruffy mush at right back we used to call Jesus? ****ed if I can remember his name.
  7. I don't want them to sort anything out. I grown to love the digs and the spats and the bad mouthing and the whole damn bull that goes with it. The animosity between the current chairman and ex players, of whom MLT seems the loudest (presumably because he's the most high profile) is all part of the soap opera of Premier League football. It provides terrific entertainment and minutes of distracted fun, such as the mirth that comes from reading heart wrenching posts on here from people imploring them to sort out any differences, as if any bad feeling is some wretched family crisis. Great stuff. Long may it continue.
  8. Adkins was "sacked" well ahead of the game too, it was just formalised last Friday! I suspect NC hasn't given NA a second thought since he told him / got someone to tell him to do one. If the press release is anything to go by, where he was cast aside within 13 words, he won't get any mention at all from now on. Even the stewards were told to confiscate any banners / messages of support for NA last night and that Nabil Hussain fella tweeted that the media were not allowed any "vox pops" interviews on how the fans viewed last Fridays events from in and around the stadium. Welcome to Commandant Cortese world. It is all dispiriting and i did hope that when Punch left the pitch last night he did so to curl one on Cortese's desk.
  9. Should have won it but seemed to lack conviction, not surprising after last week. Positives are that Boruc is starting to look immense and Gaston looks to be inspired by the new South American manager. The rest of the team were as before which is very encouraging. Morgan is just getting better every game as he has done all season. To me the most important player we have. Hope he stays fit. All in all, well done lads. Well done MP. **** off cortese!
  10. Nonsense. It was in front of the media, not the fans. There would have been no "aggression", just hard questions which would have been difficult for Cortese to answer. I think many more people would have at least some respect for him if he stood up in front of the cameras and said "This is our new Manager (sorry, First Team Coach). Yes, Nigel was good for us, but i wanted a change, live with it". Instead he wimped out and the only sensible conclusion one can draw from his no show is that he's spineless, cowardly and scared. I agree that he wont be there tonight. But that isn't due to any "masterstroke" (please!) more because he's gutless and doesn't want to hear the inevitable chants of how much of a w@nker he is.
  11. As do all the gob****es on this forum who think kicking a man in the boll ox when he's doing perfectly well is something that can be justified as an inevitable business decision, whilst praising the ruthless **** that dealt the blow. Its a kick in the teeth to NA and his backroom staff, their families and all that goes with it. Perhaps when the gob****es get the sack whilst doing their job well they may well have a bit more eempathy.
  12. It's been a terrific time to be a saints fan under NA's stewardship. Loved the positivity, graft, togetherness of the squad all of which transmitted itself to the fans and the city. Like the vast majority I am appalled at the way NA and his staff have been treated by an unsavoury egomaniac, but I doubt there will be much time for them to rest up as another bus journey will be starting soon.
  13. Despite a lifelong dislike of Everton for that cheating git Adrian heath doing us out of an f a cup final place, they are a perfect example of how you can achieve success with stability and having faith in a manager from the lower leagues who is given a chance to learn his trade at the highest level. Limited funds influences what they can do in the transfer market, but they bring on their fair share of youngsters and are currently challenging for a CL place. Perhaps our nob of a chairman should take a leaf from Kenwrights book and have had a little faith instead of gambling at completely the wrong time.
  14. I think sacking the manager who has built a squad that achieved two successive promotions and to whom those players respected and trusted is more likely to have a detrimental effect on the team performance than a protest from fans. A protest is the right thing to do. I won't be there as I'm ****ing sick of this club and that nasty little **** who runs it, but best of luck to those who organise it.
  15. Do not underestimate the ego of that nasty ****er we have running our club.
  16. Cortese can poke my season ticket up his ****ing @rse the nasty little c++t. How can anyone defend this scrote in anything now. Nasty little ****.
  17. If you've eaten one, don't saddle yourself with any guilt.
  18. Prince was fabulous - great show and magnificent performer. Jeff Healey was superb. Always loved watching The Waterboys too. And The Cropdusters put on a good show, especially the gig with The Men They Couldn't Hang at the Top Rank, circa 86!!
  19. It never fails to annoy me, all this guff about not caring about the cup in order to concentrate on a league in which we can only hope to scrape by in year after year. A good cup run is is important. Yes we had a very tough fixture, but we should have been at full strength and with full commitment. We were not and that is not acceptable.
  20. http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/extensions/ Worth checking out for anyone planning an extension - some designs will not need planning permission, although party wall agreements may still need to be considered depending upon the project.
  21. You sure you were at the game? Delivered the only corner ball that was any good and had Johnson all over the place, hence MON bringing on Barnsley to tighten it up? De Ridder was good when he came on and I think he may play another game this Xmas break.
  22. Not much in the way of religous observance during Christmas for me, but then again I don't have a strong faith anyway and even if i was to true I can't quite get over the thorny issue of creationism in the face of evidence to the contrary. However, I certainly don't feel the need to criticise anyone who has a faith and no doubt we will see many examples of people with a faith helping out those who find themselves in need during the festive period, despite what some of the posters on this thread think. I did try to find a "Happy Non-Specific Pagan Winter Celebration" card for my aethist friends but there were none to be found.
  23. My cousin used to live in West Wittering and got to know him. I remember when i was about 8 years old, going around to Sir Patrick's house with my cuz and the great man taking the time and trouble to show us the observatories in his garden. Even though i was 8 years old, he spoke to me as if i were an adult and with such enthusiasm too. That one visit fuelled an interest in astronomy that lasted well into my teenage years. Top fella and a sad loss, although anyone who has such a good innings and who was so enthusistic about their passions deserves to be celebrated above all else.
  24. Cracking photos. Good lads, spot on fellas, well done. Love the one of the Pompey boy trying on the shirt and someone having to explain to Gaston why it's a bit of fun.
  25. He may well have poked his withered little bellend up the toxic flange of Murdochs chief of staff at some point in the past. Probably during one of Jezza's Chipping Norton soiree's. So he'll be Murdoch's fluffy little pocket i guess. Incidentally, Sam Cam went to the Bristol Poly / UWE when i was there and i swear i tried to give her some of the old Special K charm whilst bladdered in the Tube Club once. I can't remember if i was successful or not, i may have got a snog, but i really can't be sure. TBH I would have loved to have banged it and gone to the papers just to see if it would be printed, what with Dave in the pockets of the media.
