  1. Jesus Christ, some people. :rolleyes:Lighten up FFS, there's just some **** taking going on. The lad asked a funny question, some took the juice, the lad realises an error no harm done. Don't turn it into something it's not.
  2. I think you are guilty of an over-reaction. Only 1 post could be classed as having a go, the rest were just taking the ****. Fair enough, no harm done, but your post is the worst of the thread. Lighten up mush.
  3. And the Germans aren't??? ahem, allegedly, so i'm told.
  4. Thanks FC, it's always welcome to have views from those who actually know what they are talking about. An excellent post and most welcome on this thread!

    Euro

I think you are right. If the euro fails, there will undoubtedly be a number of countries is serious economic distress with very little hope of mid term recovery. We all know this can lead to social unrest, the rise of nationalism and, potentially, conflict.
  6. Take them off and take to them away to get them dipped. But if you do this, you must treat them with respect afterwards as the wood will have lost its natural oils and the dip will dry them out further. So get some nice wax and treat the wood to a bit of TLC. should come up a treat. Yell.com will have firms local to you.
  7. This is my reaction too. Whilst the red tops are a nasty bunch of ****s, they couldn't have predicted what actions Speed would take. And it was a pretty extreme course of action. Obviously this assumes that the assertions made in this thread are true
  8. You miss my point. I was not commenting on the validity of the bibke as a factual source. I was commenting on TLS's rather ugly attitude towards religion and questioning whether it influences his teaching methods. Such vehemence shows no boundary and one can only presume it is difficult for him to contain himself in the classroom, which imho, would be wrong.
  9. Religion has undoubtedly influenced historical events. As a supposed teacher, you should appreciate that, whether you agree with it or not and not let your aggresive atheism get in the way. Sadly though, i suspect it does.
  10. I doubt if those who had anything by Clarkson on their "wish list" would be at all put off by what he said. He is a celebrity gobsh!te. He can be avoided. There are more important things in the world to worry about.
  11. As is anyone who takes him seriously and gets "offended" by him.
  12. Unusual for business rates to be included in rental agreements, but if it is, then it is. Best get some legal advice on the contract you signed. On another note, there is relief on rates for small businesses at the moment (something that nasty Chancellor proposed i believe )
  13. I tend to agree. Becoming a bit Diana-like now.
  14. Didn't injure myself, but I was driving out of Wallasey Golf Club when i heard we'd beaten Manure 6-3, celebrated (in so doing I let go of the steering wheel) and stoved the car into a series of small wooden posts, which ripped the **** out of the cills on my car.
  15. Still cheaper than going to Uni over here!
  16. I used to really like the programme "Teachers" on Channel 4. It had Andrew Lincoln and the woman who plays Jack Dee's wife in Lead Balloon, forget her name. Can any teachers tell me if teaching really is like how it was portrayed in the programme? Thanks in advance.
  17. I do hope the 7 protesters outside Eastleigh BC offices will be joined by the hundreds more who are obviously not in Top Shop/Debenhams/Bed watching daytime TV at the moment. How can anyone take the strike seriously when a large number of those on strike spend all day tossing it off? Fair enough to those who turn out and good luck to ya, though. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9392423.Thousands_walk_out_in_strike_action/
  18. I have no problem with the strike, providing those who strike are displaying their grievance appropriately, through demonstration, petitioning or any other legal display of dissatisfaction. Heaven knows where this country would be if we couldn't protest at what we consider is an injustice. I do have a problem with those who see it as a bonus day off to go out and do some Christmas shopping. Fortunately, the vast majority of those on strike will be doing so for the correct reasons. However, i have very high regard for those who are carrying on working as normal.
  19. In our industry, average salaries were cut about 25% from 2007 to 2010. Small increases have been given in some areas this year, but this is obviously on the reduced salary. Many have had pay freezes or further reductions this year. We have also seen over 500,000 redundancies in that time and very little recruitment. There are still a large number of people who have been out of work for over 3 years. I know of 3 ex colleagues who have been put on notice this week, 2 of whom will probably be made redundant before Christmas. So it's not all rosy and nice as you make out.
  20. Why did they stop the lepers hockey game? Because there was a face off in the corner.
  21. I thought the vast majority of private sector employees were earning minimum wage, taken advantage of by nasty bosses?
  22. Oh dear, i think you are the one getting "foamy mouthed" old love. Of course the public purse pays for pension contributions. And if you read the rest of my post you'll see that i don't disagree that some schemes are in surplus, but these are only local authority schemes, which imho, can be used by forward thinking councils to generate revenue, if they are allowed.
  23. True, but the rest (and the far more substantial amount it is too) is provided by the taxpayer, both now and in the future. The trouble with them is the shear scale of the generous schemes that are guaranteed irrespective of economic conditions. Instead of forcing change through contributions, the Government should give each section of the public sector the chance to invest the funds currently sat around doing not very much. That way, for instance, councils could reduce the burden on the taxpayer whilst maintaining values and adding to their asset base. There is a council in London which wants to use pension funds to invest in affordable shared ownership housing. Good idea, if they can loosen the bureaucracy.
  24. http://blog.thecompanywarehouse.co.uk/2010/06/28/2012-mandatory-pension-scheme-and-nest/ It has been addressed already.
