  1. I disagree, thought it was a bit too petty and ill thought out.
  2. They would have to go a long way in my view. We need a "top" manager (whoever that is) that will give us, the fans, a continuation of the decent football we've come to enjoy, playing youth and who will keep the team spirit. We'd need to still strengthen in the areas we were lacking (CB, GK, forward) but now 2 forward players at LEAST. I was annoyed at Pochettino going and not showing loyalty, but if Rickie goes, that's just gutting. Whether he would have been starting every match or not, it's still gutting.
  3. Was just going to reply with something similar. PANIC PANIC PANIC. No one has been sold, even if they are, as gutting as it would be (Rickie), we still have SFC.
  4. I hate this part of the year (football wise) ... can't wait for the 1st Sept, this utter gonads is just so tedious. Every year, but amplified this year! Quote Ralph "no players need to be sold, it'll be up to the NEW MANAGER who he wants to keep" ... we don't have a new manager ...
  5. Very nice reading, I'd like him as manager. Some interesting points from his Wiki page (some good, some not so); 1. Valencia fans were soon won over by Benítez as he introduced a more attacking style of play 2. One of Benítez's first tasks at Liverpool was to convince club captain Gerrard not to move to rivals Chelsea.[ 3. Liverpool came from 3–0 down at half time to level the score at 3–3 4. Liverpool's worst run in 22 years[ 5. Benítez has developed a reputation in English football as a hard man to please, with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admitting he longed for a "well done" from Benítez after good performances. 6. Benítez's preferred formation is a 4–2–3–1 which he adopted during his time at Valencia and Liverpool. 7. Benítez has been criticised by some sections of the Liverpool support for failing to develop any local players 8. Instead Benítez brought in some of the top Spanish talent, including Barcelona star and U-19 Goldenboot winner Dani Pacheco, FC Cadiz 15-year-old super talent Suso, as well as another 15-year-old English player Raheem Sterling and 16-year-old midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Charlton Athletic. Hmmmm
  6. What the hell? You're odd, what did you expect him to say? It made a lot of sense.
  7. Interesting; "Les Reed has been outstanding in his preparation for ..." So it has been known all along then, they tried to keep him, he (Pochettino) only came for Cortese and followed the cash. Oh well, see ya mush. Hope we turn up with another gem now and manage to keep this one a little longer
  8. What a d*ck, he won't last the year and we'll go marching on ... up the Saints!!
  9. Disagree with Sherwood - I'd have him, possibly McLaren too ... but the rest (plus Hughton and Laudrup) would be disappointing.
  10. If he goes, he's an utter w*nker. If he stays, he's a pr*ck for not putting this to bed ... But ... we still have a team to support no matter who the manager is.
  11. I always thought SeaTac airport was pretty mind-numbingly bad - it's typically American in that it is HUGE, but it takes ages to walk to anything and there isn't much to do, it's boring. However, I had the misfortune to be stuck in Doha airport for 7 hours a few months ago. Oh my god, now THAT is a boring, horrendous airport - the air con is ramped up so much that it is freezing, the toilets are filthy (and I mean REALLY filthy) and disgusting, the food is almost non-existent and poor and the only place to drink is a Costa that gives you the sh*ts. I absolutely hated it. The no alcohol thing just made a bad experience even more painful.
  12. I would still think it's someone "more high profile" than them, given the tone of the tweets from Nixon. However he could just be a real drama queen and it could be 2 stewards!
  13. Disclaimer - I'm not suggesting this is who they are talking about, but just thought this post/thread was interesting; http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?46550-Are-Jason-Dodd-and-Martin-Hunter-on-borrowed-time#.U3ocUq1dU6o
  14. Very nice, but looking at that list you have to wonder what on earth Chelsea do to their kids if they've got 5 there! I know, they loan them out seemingly forever, but it just proves to me that I would rather watch a team full of home grown talent than a team full of overseas players. Although admittedly, the European trips and trophies would be nice ...
  15. Jesus christ. Is this is the kind of insightful guff (that is also incorrect) we're going to be viewing on here all summer, then I'm out as well. Back on Sept 1st ...
  16. Hence I presume another one of those "commercial revenue streams" that the new board alluded to that could be improved. If we were waiting for stock on many items which the club was hoping to have revenue attributed to, how much money was potentially lost? Probably only a couple of hundred £k, but certainly enough to add up from that area.
  17. Ugh. I hate their stuff, especially their snide trainers.
  18. The roads might have been packed with them returning home to where they live, but every single Man Utd fan I saw/heard (and they do like to project) had a proper Manchester accent. They might have more tourists at home, but their away support is always very good and full of proper fans. With their support base, how easy do you think it is to get away tickets??
  19. With only Joe Hart who is English (heck, even British) in their team and ONE goal out of 102 scored by an Englishman (Milner). It's why I think it's a shame Liverpool didn't get the title - them winning the league would have been as much of a 'fluke' as Saints finishing top 6, in my view. Over the season, we probably had only 3 matches we 'should have won' (Spurs home, Villa home, Sunderland home) - that extra 9 points would have only moved us up to 7th. Who knows, keep the squad, get more lucky with injuries, add a goalie, centre back and 2 forward players and we might scrape top 6 in a fluke season. But it'll cost to get the quality in those 4 players that we need rather than just average squad players.
  20. Yes I think you're the only one! Shaw was up against a skilled/tricky and very fast player - it was obvious he was told to not bomb forward so often just in case Januzaj's pace was used on the break. I thought Shaw was excellent again and adapted to a slightly different (more defensive?) role very well. He had it covered, no problems - he really will be an outstanding player.
  21. While they invade the pitch, I'll be running backwards and looting the free drinks in the boxes. Sorted.
  22. Also thought they were "too big", they are enormous, especially in China.
  23. Hypothetically speaking ... with the same manager, keeping the same players, adding three or four new [quality] additions (GK, CB, 2x forward-types) and some luck in not getting so many injuries (Wanyama, Boruc, Lovren, Jay Rod) ... who is to say that we couldn't "do a Liverpool" next year? I know I'll get shot down in flames, so it's hypothetically speaking. If they all really believe they can push on, then the next natural step would be surely for the team to crack Europe. Aim for top 4 (!!!!), but hit the top 6. We can dream, hey?
