cheap number for 0845 688 9288 ticket office please
Patrick Bateman replied to sfc6mufc3's topic in The Saints
0845 is free on BT and Virgin Media anyway?? Unless you're on some weird, basic talk plan and pay for all phone calls!?? -
Might as well have a dribbling semi cock on the reverse.

Are there no decent goalies in the Championship??
-
But Sherwood was already in the club and was the cheap option while they get their big name manager they want for the summer. That's not Pochettino, luckily for us. I will bet you, seriously.
-
Agree 100%. Pochettino isn't YET big enough for Spurs who still think they are a "big 4 club". Given a couple more seasons at Saints, trophy win and maybe getting into Europe then he'd possibly be sought after by them and others, but currently I just can't see them going for anyone other than the big name to match their big ambitions. Although saying that, with 0 trophy wins, I still don't understand Man U going for Moyes, so you never know.

He really is a bellend. David James is a prat, but at least he's fairly erudite, but McManaman is a complete and utter bellend, typical ex-big club footballer who is blind to other views with a ridiculous set of opinions. I had to mute him when he was saying about all Saints players would be off to bigger clubs or whatever ill-informed guff he was spouting. BT Sport has generally been rubbish. I quite liked the Sports Panel when it started (Sat mornings), but that got rubbish quickly and their Premier League matches are horrendous. Awful commentary, awful 'pundits', just terrible. I'd go so far as to say they make ITV look good and that's saying something. Although at least Roy Keane makes me laugh and knows what the hell he's talking about.

Totally gutted for Jay, can only hope it's not too serious and that he can at least get back before the end of the season ... didn't look great though. I honestly think, if we keep this squad and get a new goalkeeper and another centre back, we'll be good for next season. Fonte is good backup, but we need a goalie to challenge (or be better than) Boruc to avoid having to rely on a young goalie who is obviously a bit damaged from the last couple of seasons. Really annoying match so far.

I have faith actually. I imagine his confidence will have been built up and also, he has a full strength back four in front of him, which I don't believe he had the luxury of before??

Pochettino on his future as Southampton manager
Patrick Bateman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I can never tell if you're being sarcastic or not ... but I was going to agree, then I did a quick bit of searching ... Wenger's last contract was August 2010, Ferguson's last contract was signed in Jan 2012. So that probably dispels that -
Pochettino on his future as Southampton manager
Patrick Bateman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I think he's just fed up with being asked now. It's a; "look, we've still got games to win and points to gain, which are more important over the next 2 months than my contract". I think that's fair enough and is correct. If we did sneak up another place, that would be circa £900k extra in prize money and would pay for a portion of that new contract ... -
Sunderland fielded ineligible player against us at SMS
Patrick Bateman replied to Pancake's topic in The Saints
Well. They should have their point taken away, simple as that. Not sure it would be fair to give other teams any points, but just remove their gained point. -
Me neither, can't stand them - not for Saints, but what they did to someone I know and another.

Saints email list 1992-1995 (ish) and Saintsweb launch
Patrick Bateman replied to Bordeaux's topic in The Saints
I remember that conversation coming up a couple of times, I think the common theme was that "it's too anonymous and the Saintslist is friendly as we use our real names". Yes? -
I still can't stand the normal red and white stripes and would prefer the red kit we have now or, the sash kit. If we do go "stripes", this is my favourite option (1976 home) and I think would look cool/different enough against the backdrop of similar stripped teams; http://ssl.saintsfc.co.uk/Images/ProductImages/NEW%20PCS%20SITE/NEW%20SITE%20PICTURES/LEISUREWEAR/Retros/Cup%20Winners%20Retro.jpg

Saints email list 1992-1995 (ish) and Saintsweb launch
Patrick Bateman replied to Bordeaux's topic in The Saints
Welcome George! There are quite a few of us old Saintslist members on here, as you'd expect! DC even came and went at one stage too on this version of the forum. -
Well, they did let Fulham score against them and we didn't, so you could be right ...
-
I notice Pepe Mel has changed to having an interpreter now.
-
I think you're alone in that view! They are a very good side, well organised and tactically they seem to (mostly) get it right every match.
-
Brilliant and you're right of course

Can we set the boundaries and define what success means to a Saints fan? Apart from the mid to late 90s when we were always seen as relegation fodder, we bumped around in the top flight around mid table, with a couple of really good years thrown in. Before that, we didn't have the 'history' of certain other clubs and slowly made our way up the leagues. Having been nearly wiped out and then promoted twice, surviving last year and (hopefully!) finishing 9th or higher this year; I'd call that a successful few years. Yes, I think most of us would love a Wembley appearance, but generally I think most of us would define success as exactly what we've seen over the last few years. Next season is a different proposition again. What is success in 14/15, for a Saints fan? Cup final appearance and cracking the top 6? As a bunch of fans, I think most of us are fairly patient in all honesty. If we went back to changing managers almost every season like during the Lowe era, we could certainly not expect to finish top half of the prem. In my opinion.

Thanks for the update Artur, keep a clean sheet today and good luck

Agreed. The silver looks much more modern and should definitely be kept for formal literature and branding.
