  1. I listened to a bit of the interview. No chance of any gig there teaching him English as a foreign language. There's always a tremendous difference between northern and southern Europeans in their English ability, but he sounds like an intelligent guy. Let's hope his positioning is better than Stephens and Hoedts..
  2. Or go by train and have a few pints in The Brunswick..
  3. Well, thank you for that cheery thought!;-) Thank goodness we've still got Yoshi, Bednarek and Vestergaard to come in.
  4. Can we afford him? We're going to have to put in non-standard doors throughout Staplewood..
  5. Wait a second, I'll shuffle them. I wonder what else will happen on the CB front? No rumours there then? Apart from the Yoshi/UAE suggestion?
  6. Thought it should have been Hoedt's.
  7. Gabbi 1-0
  8. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-07-11/live-jiangsu-suning-vs-southampton-pre-season-friendly-match-china
  9. OK, in that case they should be able to afford a refund to anybody whose season ticket hasn't been used on a changed date. They have the information, and if somebody else manages to use it there would be no refund.
  10. He heard that pasta came from China but is wondering why they always overcook it, which is sacrilege.
  11. Hopefully with his height we'll eliminate some of the goals we conceded last season at the back post in what Billy ****e called 'the Cedric/Stephens corridor of uncertainty'..
  12. Good grief. Do give it a rest. As it happens Saints have one of the highest proportions of female football supporters in the country. It doesn't stop us being patronised in the pub by dinosaurs such as you.
  13. Looks like Schalke had done their homework on FF. He needs to go to dance classes to improve his footwork. Other observations from the second half, it looked like Romeu was playing sweeper, our midfield looked a bit lightweight and Hesketh looked off the pace, Clasie looks more like TinTin than JWP does, Gallagher made a nuisance of himself and made a good shooting opportunity on his own, and the general lack of experience is not a criticism.
  14. I feel I should be drinking a beer watching Saints. It feels like I've had quite a few watching that stream.. They've just showed Charlie Austins look at the ref after he'd been booked. LOL
  15. Not sure it will tell us much, given he hopes to give most of the players a half. Might give us an indication of formation, but even there that's what pre-season is about, experimentation.
  16. ..best let them know..
  17. I'm with tajjuk on this. Anybody who has had the chance to play alongside better players than them will know it makes them play better. As he's homegrown does he count in our squad? Give him an opportunity and then sell in January if the management don't think he'll make it.
  18. I think this summarises my view too. I think he's had a couple of growth spurts, once when he was on loan and not sure how that (or his family issue) impacted on him, but he's got the speed and height, even if not quite the touch. He's the sort of player who given a decent delivery would score headers against our full backs. :-)
  19. A pre-season friendly against Sligo as part of the deal would make a great excuse for a trip to Ireland. Pack the fishing rod and whistle and a bit of footie and Beamish, so go on Saints, make it happen.
  20. Is that the one saying how many assits [sic] he's made?
  21. I see Harley Davidson are moving some production abroad due to Trump instigated trade wars. Best buy your current stocks of Jim Beam before they too go up in price.
  22. Really, I'm sure I haven't mentioned it since last season, and this thread, if it's anything, is all about continuity and recurrent themes! :->> If you really want the detail I play very little, off the bench. Would you like more detail? I'm not up to Heisenberg's or CB Fry's level of tiresomeness, or even, dare I say it The9s when it comes to all things to do with shirts, which is where we came in. But if I'm feeling stroppy I'm sure I can go completely OT and be as irrelevant to the topic as the rest of you are much of the time.
  23. "Any old parks team" Oi, no need to be so disparaging! :-) By the time we've put on our sponsors logo, our team badge, numbers, Hampshire FA patch, etc, they end up expensive. My best friend doesn't even like football but I managed to persuade her to be the shirt sponsor before she really understood how much it would cost. Fortunately she's still smiling and talking to me..
  24. Eh? He's 26. Now if you'd said Steven Davis was in physical decline I'd sadly agree. As others have said lets hope he's a replacement for Davis and not Tadic.
  25. I think that is an eminently sensible summary of some of the influences on his decision making. Perhaps he knows in himself that he is slowing down a bit too much for the hurly-burly of the premiership. I'd like him to stay for another season mind..
