How did Schneiderlin and Cuco perform today?
-
As long as they actually bid and don't just issue unattributed press releases, like certain other clubs..
-
You're clearly something, but I don't like being rude..
-
No, my point is people were using it as a personal criticism, not a tactical one.

You must be watching a different player to me then. He looked out of place and didn't have a good game on Saturday, but the thing about his delivery is exactly that it's _not_ hit and hope and high but whipped in and away from the keeper. we just don't commit players enough to get on the end of them. Criticise by all means, but that's not a legitimate point.

To be fair to other Pompey fans, most detest the guy.

Well, is it safe on here yet? I'm not looking through 11 pages but I can imagine the content. It was depressing enough being there on Saturday, and I stayed to the bitter end, so I couldn't face the depressing stuff on here. We seemed small, weak, slow and out-fought, with Watford picking up all the second balls, and having the temerity to actually shoot and from outside the box to boot. We've got enough skilled players to move the ball quickly but we didn't. We didn't support the man with the ball particularly when we attacked, there was a big gap between midfield and attack and no one made an effort to fill it, preferring to sit in front of defence. Finally, we didn't shoot! Just before the second goal I was commenting to a neighbour - 'This is exactly the sort of situation that brought them their first..' Bu**er! We really have to improve against Palace, and I hope our internationals will return: Lemina for a bit of bite in midfield and, dare I say it, Yoshida for his decent pace and experience within our defence. I don't think VVD is ready yet. I shall try and help us win by going to my lucky pub to watch on the box...

I'm glad you posted that. It's a perfectly reasonable view but not the time or place to express it.

:-) I can recommend sloe gin for your singing voice if you want to try..

Were you the one singing flat? :-)

I wouldn't say they were the main 'belittlers' on here. Fair bit of chinese whispers going on, I'd guess, and out of date information, so I read with interest, the odd chuckle and a big pinch of salt.

From The Guardian live blog, and no surprises for Saints fans: - The second half begins at a fairly frenetic pace, with Dusan Tadic failing to put his boot through the ball and making life easy for Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph after being put through. and -Another chance for Shane Long: Shane Long picks up the ball on the left flank, cuts inside and tries a shot. He fails to connect properly with his low drive and Serbia goalkeeper Vladimir Stojković saves comfortably at his near post.

Your questions are very apposite. They expectations are in the same vein as "sign a new striker/AM/whatever", as if it just needed a quick trip the supermarket to pick up something appropriate, affordable and actually willing to be sold to us. With the latter you don't get tins of beans getting stroppy - 'I want to be eaten now, served alongside truffle oil and no leaving me on the shelf in your storecupboard'..

I've just finished a language lesson. Is it worth rushing down my local to see the rest of the game?
-
Well, two of my team have had babies over the break and both of them want to get back to playing this season and have signed on! She should be ok for next season then.

We could always do an oblique chant, which expresses the fans' feelings but doesn't get nasty to the player. How about: "We hate your ****ing agent"..
-
My disabled friends would probably disagree with you..
-
They obviously avoided the loos or the phrase 'fetid atmosphere' would have been mentioned.
-
Now you can lock it. ;-)

We've got Van Dijk, Virgil Van Dijk! I don't think his agent understands He's playing with the kids, career is on the skids We've got Virgil Van Dijk!

Agree with your post and not being privy to any information other than that bandied about so liberally by the media and some on here, wasn't in a position to decide or make any pronouncement. I drink a lot of tea but that doesn't mean I believe the readings in the bottom of the cup. I think Foxy's point is also a good one. I'm sure there is always informal contact: no point getting the lawyers in and beavering away on the detail if the player won't even countenance the move for whatever reason: family stability, kids in school, playing time, career progression.

I'm glad we had a hard-boiled attitude with VVD.

In the Guardian final transfer day blog by David Hytner:
-
Could be worse, we could be Arsenal..

It's best to ignore him like most of us do most of the time.
