  1. Walcott was sent on before he'd completed his warm-up! It's now 2-0 BTW
  2. Perhaps they should tell the guessers to check our OS? Just listened to RK's presser. 'Did you expect the managerial change'.. 'No..., not so soon' (Or words to that effect..).

This board is a mine of information! :-)
  4. Just the interconnected nature of the body, I reckon - you know, 'leg bone connected to the shin bone, shin bone connected to..'. The way he's been running it looks like he's compensating for something: had an out of kilter pelvic girdle once and ended up with achilles tendonitis.. But at least he's not paying for private physio like I was!
  5. Bit worrying Koeman's talk about JR's foot injury/pain, so they may be managing that quite carefully which will have an impact on his appearance time.
  6. What were the pointless answers - off the top of my head I can only think of 14 managers since the war?
  7. Thanks for that Guan..
  8. I thought you were the European Tour specialist..? /innocent whistle/
  9. Don't be coy, go on, tell us.. ;-)
  10. Thanks whoever first put up that image. Off to footie training in Portsmouth shortly and I've just printed off a copy. :-)

This has just reminded me to go and give my two bottles of sloes a shake. Picked a few weeks ago, but King Sombourne is quite far north... I've got some more in the freezer but not enough for another bottle: perhaps I could make sloe and blackberry, as I've got those in the freezer. I've also got a bottle of 95% genepi under the stairs which I should really dilute and bottle..
  12. Buy you a pint next time I see you! PS It was good to see you last match.
  13. A friend of mine flies 4 seater Robinsons and she's promised me a trip as she builds her hours. I laughingly suggested an away match for my Sunday team - how cool would that be - but any more serious suggestions for places with a helipad?
  14. Indeed, that's the problem, and the old distinction between Grammar and Secondary Modern (and perhaps now with Comprehensives) is that the latter were looked down on and seen as evidence of failure. Still very much a class thing, I think. You make some good points about vocational education, which in the UK, to use a teachers' phrase "could do better". Personally I went to a Grammar school in the mid-60s/early 70s, and although it wasn't a bad school some of the teaching left a lot to be desired. To be frank the 'tuition' was often poor and results more due to native intelligence of the pupils than the instruction. Whenever this subject comes up I always consider a lot of rubbish is written about grammar schools through very misted perspectives.
  15. Get plenty over my house as I live near Thorney Island. They've a distinctive sound, as do the Spitfires and Harvards who come over every week, flying out of Goodwood.
  16. Ooh yes, thanks for that reminder: just checked the webcams for the north-west too.. :-)
  17. Thanks! Just about to watch it, but my memory is of Colin Clarke setting up Shearer and think I was under the West Stand.

That sounds great! For others who haven't used the Italian rail service, it's very good value, even for longer distances. My sister recently visited old haunts in Rome and commented to my old mum to remember it as it was in the 60's when we lived there: it's now packed with tourists even at this time of the year. It's a great walking city though, so you can always find some less frequented nooks and crannies. Might be a good idea to install transponders on the kids though!
  19. Difference is that unless we go in the opposite direction to Portsmouth in the leagues they have a serious rival within that catchment area, whatever it consists of.. Saints still don't at the moment unless we count Bournemouth with their limited capacity (and possible, with all their injuries, a very short stay at the top).
  20. Good attempt, completely understandable but as I teach Italian I could probably have found a few mistakes. It's the bloomin' endings that catch people out, so watch your verbs and nouns. :-) I once taught an intensive English course to squaddies at the Alpine training school. They have some recruits who only sign up for short periods, as little as a year (!) - VFBs - Volontieri di Ferma Breve (not sure of my endings there!) so effectively almost like conscripts. Some were keen but others not so; I think joining the army was just a way of getting out of their one-horse southern village. As the lady who contracted me said: 'Some only speak dialect and not even Italian', let alone any English from school. You'll find the fatter or stouter ones are marescialli - W/Os - and they're always good for a joke amongst the recruits for their appetites in the mess. If you need Italian lessons when you get back let me know: with the price of season tickets I could do with a few more classes!
  21. Glad you had fun. :-)
  22. Note to Agent Napalm: Departmental budgetary constraints do not allow for a season ticket. A ticket to the Villa cup match has been despatched.
  23. Can you do us a quick management summary?
  24. Doubt if you'll be able to get a half-n-half scarf though..
