Gallagher on the bench against the North London Yobbos, please
suewhistle replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
The ability to strike a ball and risk a shot from outside the area? That slightly tongue-in-cheek comment aside, it's an ability that I'm not sure is entirely down to coaching or skill levels (witness Tadic..). The ball still seemed to be accelerating when it passed the keeper on Monday night, and even if we don't see him this season I think next we'll see more. He's also tall and solid, with a good turn of pace so a pre-season and possibly some early Europa cup games :-) will start to improve on the rawness. -
It seems that there are some normal, intelligent people down there with a grasp of budgeting principles and with realistic expectations.

Thanks for the heads up SG..

Looks like the mobile networks are coping! I was going to go but a bit too much on to get over. Can't see my local pub showing this!

The odds indicating an equal likelihood? Would Spurs pay, and more importantly would they outbid anybody if there were any competition for his signature, and there is likely to be. Secondly, why would he go there if his prime motivation were CL football? We could finish above them this season, which would make it even more unlikely.

Chelsea and Spurs both 10/1: what b*****ks.

Rodriguez has returned - BREAKING: NEW CONTRACT SIGNED

Ma cazzo! E tutto in inglese, non si capisce nulla! -
Lucky b*****d! I can't mention where I was living otherwise Turkish will give me grief suffice to say that I remembered all my glaciation stuff from 50 years previously. Erratics, moraines, roches, cirques: you name it, all local to me. Bit too expensive for a school field trip, but you could combine it with skiing - now there's an idea!

Could we possibly beg you not to post at all?

Aston Villa Ticket Rip Off - SFC Screwing Fans Over
suewhistle replied to pluto's topic in The Saints
With any luck he'll save £10 by getting a Villa ticket and then get escorted on to one of their coaches back to Villa... -
Never seen them mentioned on a football forum before, but I see you remember your geography too! Did you stay at the YHA at Harlech: I was traumatised by my field trip a few years before. The weather and the food, both appalling.. But you've just reminded me that I probably didn't go to the Villa replay: it was West Brom I went to in the midlands.

Hardly the few, sweetheart. Besides, the general dislike for Hoddle didn't mean that _we_ chose the alternatives...

Saints website getting politicised?

I wonder what Bearsy gets? -
I can't remember how I got up there, or how I got back, for that matter, but have vague memories of being worried in that crowd in case I needed a wee! I can remember more about the final: I went up in a coach organised by the SU student's union, and we picked up a hitcher on the way: not a fan but she was crafty enough to wear red and white.. I didn't recall it being such a cr*ppy game, but remember Gilchrist's and Peach's goals. I'd been to the Villa replay after being behind the flight of Hughie Fisher's shot at the end of the home game: he had a fussy stuttering run, but certainly hit it well. Think we'd abandoned hope by that time! Anyway, thanks Turks (and whoever quoted your post). :-)

Didn't Dom Gape not come on as sub against someone? [Man U possibly?] MLGGGGGGeeeee?

I think that's a pretty good summary of the situation.

Did you have to spoil my Friday? Still, it gets worse down thread: Dixon, Speedie and Branfoot: what a combination!

Apparently last year we " stubbornly and impressively resisted interest from Tottenham Hotspur". Not that impressive given how little they were offering..
-
Not on twitter, but is anyone on here prepared to ask him the question?
-
It hasn't! As you say, it's been an interesting season, with quite a number of what-ifs. We could certainly finish above Spurs or Liverpool, and I think most of us would be happy with that.

Perhaps we can catch Citeh up? ;-)

TV GAME: Aston Villa (H) moved - now on BT Sport
suewhistle replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
This is the only rearrangement that has suited me this season, as I have my football club's presentation that evening, but most of the time they're a pain in the a*se, particularly Sunday games. -
I agree, and I think everyone would agree that he's working hard and contributing, even if he's over anxious and snatching at chances. A chant or two at Everton might go down well.
