  1. We're going to have to get pilchards up his favourite tree to tell us if he's training. Those of us going to France will try and let you know what we see. In the meantime: chill (except for me returning to doing a local tax form...).
  2. Or was that the year after? 3-1 loss either way!
  3. Ah yes. Luckily I was staying with friends near-by and went by local train, there was a food and drink festival in the station forecourt and the station pub itself is a good'un. Just as well I was relaxed to start with. IIRC Jake Thompson was playing and it became evident he wasn't going to be an answer to any of our problems, although that day it would have been unfair to pick on anyone really.
  4. In case you missed it on the OS: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2837203,00.html
  5. And no credit lines either... nobody else commented on the significance of no cheques for season tickets. I presumed that's because any received will just go to paying off the overdraft, thankyouverymuch. Lots of us will have overdrawn friends at college helped out by parents sending a cheque... doh.
  6. You sure they weren't offering you a free club (subject to taking on a few debts..)?
  7. True, what the **** is it about testosterone that it turns you all into ******s.. Well, I could have probably phrased that better..
  8. Hmm, I'd get your coat.... Actually not bad at all.. not quite as funny as the takeover thread, but what could be?
  9. Bless 'im, he's got nothing to do on his morning commute... Not sure he get's much done during the day either!;-) The News is fun reading: "Kanu is treating the Club and Michael Appleton with disrespect. He has in turn lost the respect of the Club's supporters. Never mind fining him, sack him and if he fancies his chances see him at a Tribunal!" 1. Pompey can't afford him. 2. Pompey can't afford legal represenation. 3. Pompey can't (and this is the clincher) afford to lose their Golden Share... When I've finished laughing I too will get on with some work...
  10. Used to live in the area, have played in women's Hampshire league and friends in both men and women's local leagues - I'm not fussy! Oh, forgot the uni ground down the end of Locksway Road: that was slightly better quality in my day... didn't have the sailing centre goose **** problem.:-)
  11. In addition are all their contractual payments up-to-date? If not the contracts would be invalid on that basis alone.
  12. Incidentally, all these players training doesn't mean that much. I'm over in the UK in August and if I can I'll try and get some training in with the local womens' side where aged parent lives. Won't be transferring though, just keeping myself fit..
  13. Hah, a conspiracy theory! Mind you, it is pompey so it's worth imagining ridiculous and devious situations. I'd ask local residents to keep an eye on Farlington, Bransbury park, the Sailing Centre, King George V playing fields (oh, and possibly Moneyfields) for signs of unusual training activity...
  14. Well, standard NHS waiting time - not too bad really. Most clubs would have paid to go private... Ah...
  15. Not deppo, lately of this parish? If so you're probably right!
  16. Hasn't the three years gone quickly: I suppose it would when just this thread alone has been so entertaining. Chuckling my head off here reading all those historic posts - wonderful! PS: did we ever get those "I'm a PTS Nutjob t-shirts"? We could now add a little crest "8th July 2009 - 2012"
  17. YES! It looks like you've got the right attitude. Golf, hah! Now personally I reckon I've got another season of footie in me even if over half way through my 50s: on the bench as an impact CF or reserve keeper (I'm also too young for golf..). I've never been a type A personality; that's why I play team sports to get someone else to motivate me; my trainer but mainly being part of a team. But I'll certainly start personal pre-season training next week -the proper team stuff starts in August - and you've given me just the kick I need. Thanks! In the meantime I'm relaxing after an open-air concert with a cold beer. Hope I'm getting the balance right. I'm so looking forward to Saint's first European match in Italy in a few years time and we've _all_ got to keep well for that!
  18. So my theory that the recruitment guy will only be paid based on results seems likelier all the time! No cost to Pompey yet, or in the forseable future!
  19. That's the spirit.. all opinions are welcome here.:-) Us overseas fans getting a bit nervous about tickets don't want to see any unused seats next season! Get well soon, you'll be fine. We'll all be popping extra pills on match days next season!
  20. Bloomin 'eck DP, that's an excessively tenuous and name-dropping link even for you!;-) My sister was in Fellini's 8 and a 1/2: so there! And she got paid 50,000 Lira... Anyway, I like Nigel Slater's cook books and rather fancy HBC.. I'll let you off, mind, as it's all part of the entertainment of this thread. Some of the stories are poisonously, incredulously indigestible but others have me giggling like a bottle of champagne!
  21. Yes, but the Saints goalkeeping coach at the time warned Lowe off: "off course I know what he's like, that's my job".... I can't see us making the same mistake now..
  22. Why thank you, but I try not to be when I'm playing!:-) Mind you, we get _very_ sweaty early and end of season given the climate... but _7_ year old kit??
  23. "The rigours of playing week in, week out takes its toll on kit, especially one that is seven years old." Jeez! We're in third division Italian women's football and have _at least_ a couple of sets of kit - long and short sleeves - with numbered shirts up to 19 [allowed 7 on the bench].. Amongst all the costs involved (grounds, travel, refs, coaches including for keepers, physio..) shirts are the least of our worries...
  24. An alternative... http://www.buzzfeed.com/bfeld/dead-cat-helicopter But yes, I used to live in a house with no cat and a bit of grass. Both neighbours had cats but saw fit not to have grass or veggies. Very frustrating....
  25. Payment by results....
