  1. Personally I'd prefer Barca, and it's closer too, plus if you know the language... All in all a good idea. Gives other players a chance, keeps the first teamers fresh physically and in a good place mentally too. Barcelona sounds ideal for a short winter city break.
  2. Or N O R W I C H... ask yer dad..
  3. My comment below was after the first friendly against Thun. I think I can now add "I'd hate to be a full back with AOC _starting_ against me!
  4. Have we got into 4th (let alone 5th) gear yet?
  5. Nah, just incompetence. For some reason the img link didn't work... But don't get excited, I was just trying to redress the balance.;-)
  6. Bless. This thread confirms that men are simple creatures.;-) As a football team colleague once said, in reply to another lass complaining about being small up top. "don't worry, a handful's enough for me.."
  7. Gemmel, thanks. Absolutely staggering in their incomprehension. I don't see many enthusiastic banks or financial suicide merchants around.
  8. Hmm, a very good example of prepositions changing meaning. I'll have to include it in one of my English lessons. (Not this afternoon's primary school classes!).
  9. So I'll have to rely on saints player then. Oh.
  10. Chrissakes Baj, what happens when we get to the Premiership?!;-)
  11. I hold doors open for anyone. Nothing to do with the sex or attractiveness of a person, just natural manners and being aware of the world around you. I'd probably wait a bit longer for an older person, somebody with a pram or otherwise encumbered.
  12. Ask Brian O'Neill whether he ever played a whole game with his socks up.
  13. How many times do we have to point out that legally and from the point of the Football League it doesn't make any difference, as the case of Luton shows. The previous regime did the business, the new one was honest, but the club still suffered the points deduction. When people use the shorthand that the club are cheats they aren't apportioning blame on a percentage basis. As for your personal jibe, I notice that nobody answered the simple questions and that there isn't a shred of humour in you, unlike the other Pompey posters on here. As for needy, who do you think I want to impress? As far as I know there aren't any other dykes on here, so I'll fulfill my needs with my local womens' football team ta very much.
  14. Perish the thought that AA was working for Chanrai: wouldn't that be another censure by a High Court judge? We know that AA has previous form in acting preferentially when his legal remit, let's all remember, is to act for all the creditors. Any thoughts on this aspect?
  15. Well, we're only going on the evidence.
  16. I think you mean "sterling".. But I think it's reasonable for the club to make the point: they want to explain the level of ticket prices, to encourage people to come by underlining the lower prices, generate a bit of interest generally. Lower ticket prices will also benefit away fans and, let's face it, I'm sure the visitors would rather come to a ground with a decent crowd and atmosphere which will still generate a good sum for their club.
  17. Ooo, *****. I think you've almost scored a point.;-)
  18. The game against West Ham away when we drew and stayed up was also "all ticket" according to our club. A group of us went up on the day and got tickets in the home stand... ;-)
  19. i think pfc should go on BBC Matt's blog if he thinks it's only us having a go. We may be better informed here, but other fans from rival clubs are catching up fast. I used to think he was an internet troll (he still is of course..) but I'm also beginning to think he's got a full magazine but isn't bright enough to realise he's firing blanks.
  20. Well, I got a two pointer for telling the truth about someone I haven't seen recently - no names, no pack drill - and I still stand by what I say although I could have said a lot more that would have been regarded as abusive, but all of it true!:-) Still, I didn't protest my yellow card...:-)
  21. I wonder if a Socratic dialogue would help him.. (or sod, was it Plato or aristotle..) Anyway, do you agree with Colinjb's figures above? Did the withdrawal of Barclay's overdraft not mean that RL immediately put Saints into insolvency to avoid trading whilst insolvent? Do you think Portsmouth were solvent before they went into administration? Did Saints immediately get rid of all the expensive players they could and play the kids?. Did Pompey get rid of all their expensive players and play the kids? [i might accept "what kids?" as an answer..] Did Aviva accept the offer on the mortgage (which was against a secured asset, a decent stadium)? Did Aviva make a big loss on the deal. I'll answer this and the next for you.. NO Did Aviva make quite as much money as they expected (at a time when interest rates were generally falling). NO Are Portsmouth's average crowds, in the Championship, bigger than Saints in L1? Are Saints relying on parachute monies for their future? Are Portsmouth relying on parachute monies for their future? Do Saints have assets like a decent ground and training ground? Do Portsmouth have assets like a decent ground and training ground? I could go on but I'm getting bored now...
  22. Just having a cup of tea and some entertainment here before off to post my tax form. The point is pfc123, that we are just trying to give some balance to your tripping-through-the-daisies view. I don't think anybody has denied making estimates but they are based on a degree of knowledge, even if it actually means believeing android occasionally.. A lot of our talk about % of turnover to wages etc is just plain business givens or knowns, as are the comments about our respective crowds. Personally I think our estimates are a _lot_ better than yours!
  23. Ivan Golac... I still remember his thighs!
  24. Were you getting her excited then? (Sorry about the edit:-) )
