  1. I was actually hoping for a reply from LD, but thank you for all the suggestions...
  2. Pity they don't take a blowtorch to the Fratton seats and leave it going for a bit longer. A few years ago my women's football team went to watch a women's international against Turkey. The first team keeper sat down on one of the seats and it collapsed underneath her.. I'd already heard about the legendary loos so didn't need to go. Mind you, I suspect they were better than those at The Dell which were appalling if you were a beer drinker..
  3. I think this is is probably my view, having been a teacher for a while, differentiation and all that.. What Egg was saying about what the club were saying is certainly true, but guidelines should always be flexible, and as The Cat touched on, there are plenty of examples of loan spells really helping. In the case of Ramsay not a clue although he seemed to have the basic physical attributes when I saw him live. Gawd knows we need some back up full backs!
  4. Perhaps the point should be made that we want our loanees to get plenty of playing time, which will be more likely at a lower level. It'll still help with his match fitness and toughening him up against seasoned, mature professionals in proper games, not some u-23 training type game.
  5. Thanks for confirming that you are a troller. We knew that anyway but it's always good to have confirmation from the donkey's mouth. As for Lord Duckhunter, having such rabid views about one player, expressed so often and especially with all the homophobic overtones, really makes one wonder what they're like in real life. Both tiresome posters are reasons why I only dip in here occasionally and I'm sure there are many others with similar views.
  6. I think most of us are probably quite pleased that Ings and JWP weren't associated with yesterday's disjointed c**p and are getting a bit of much needed R&R. Plus a bit of a confidence boost for Adams (although his finishing still needs work). It's not that either would have made any difference, but you sit there thinking they couldn't do worse, and the free kicks would at least beat the first man..
  7. But Gordon Banks was better than both of them.. Naughty Cat, you know how easy it is to get CB going!
  8. So he did.. He made a valid point about his finishing, but really?
  9. I went to watch this game round aged mum - that wan't really an option for me, unfortunately.
  10. He'd be better of gauging the reaction of the prospective managers before making their names public! It's all highly amusing though and takes our mind off our own desperate signing attempts.
  11. I like a bit of fresh Mack rill.. cheers! Seems highly plausible.. 🙂
  12. According to The News: "Pompey have today completed the landmark purchase of the Roko training facility. The Blues have acquired the freehold for the Hilsea facility and its surrounding land - which is believed means they will own their own training facility for the first time." One of the comments below says "Great news, can’t wait to see the negative spins on this one……". OK, I'll start. Why didn't they get it when they had Premier money? Is it because this is a different club?
  13. I agree with The Cat's point. Sims and Hesketh had the skills but not the physicality. He'll make a career in the game but not at the top level.
  14. Could people not quote Turkish please. There is a reason I have him (and only him) blocked on here. He's a nasty piece of work.
  15. In my women's team in training I tell the shorter defenders you can still stop runs and jumpers if you get close and awkward. Cedric never seemed to whereas KWP does much better! As to our high defensive line, I used to cringe too but, as you say, it was actually very successful.
  16. We sold cakes at one of the clubs I played for. Nobody fancied my flapjacks though.. 😞
  17. Actually that's not as good a clue as you think given Manchester Utd and Liverpool were leveraged buyouts too and major investments like that are often with borrowed money. That said, no I don't reckon he's got much money either..
  18. Is that wise where Southgate is concerned? Anyway, TAA is now definitely out so we'll soon see..
  19. Fortunately I only read him when somebody quotes him or I forget to sign in. I've never seen so many likes as on your post!
  20. Tabloid world. See also 'war chest'. Never seen in any other context..
  21. So bad I've lost the capacitor to laugh.
  22. Didn't this tell them anything about the local market for premium football seats?
  23. I got back in after playing footie this afternoon and luckily the streams were all a bit dodgy so I only saw the first two goals. As someone up the thread said, we are so brittle, playing some decent approach football with no bite. Redmond did try attacking his man but getting caught off-side by being so static, and not clearing when he had an opportunity was depressing. For the second do they coach them to leave players unmarked by a couple of yards in the box? You don't even get that at the base of the football pyramid! But I'm not sure I've heard any real remedies. " Sell so-and-so and get in a decent something or other" sounds simple enough on the page, but not in practice. Telling us he shouldn't play Bednarek leaves us with whom? Bringing in Stephens would result in a different gang of critics. There are some good buys out there - the Czech guy for WH as an example, so we can only hope Crocker's input helps us. Lawd knows what's going to happen with Hoedt, Lemina and Elyonoussi coming back..
  24. Not sure that 'working class' has anything to do with it anymore, as none of my graduate, long term saints fans friends would be prepared to pay that either. We can discuss John McGrath, Fred Kemp etc with our years of support but wouldn't pay that money for a seat. A complete misreading of the market by the club. We are a small regional club without the market and the salaries that London teams can command.
