I have a room full of the things.
I heartily recommend:
anything by Pat Mills (2000ad, Marshal Law, early Doctor Who)
anything by Bryan Talbot ('im currently re-reading Luther Arkwright, but Forbidden Planet in town has his new book on offer atm.)
anything drawn by Kevin O'Neil (especially Nemesis the Warlock and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen)
anything by Alan Moore (his swamp thing is ace and has had a bit of a renaissance in recent years, league of extraordinary gentlemen is miles better than the film, and the volume is out in july)
Johnathan Hickman's S.H.I.E.L.D is currently ongoing and is worth a look
Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan is my main recommendation, Ministry of Space is a great take on a Dan Dare type story, Freakangels is ace)
any Garth Ennis (his Punisher properly defined the character for the first time, The Boys and Preacher are well worth looking into)
Erik Larsen's Savage Dragon (a little continuity heavy previously but is just about to have a jumping on issue, old school typer superherostuff, but well written)
Grant Morrison (Arkham Asylum is a must read - fantastic art too, The Invisibles, All Star Supermanis how superman should always be done.)
Mark Millar (Kick Ass 1/2, Wanted, Nemesis, Superior, Old Man Logan. Kick Ass, Superior and Nemesis can be found in Clint magazine, not always consistent, but good value, also contains Jonothan Ross' Turf)
Eric Powell's The Goon
Any Frank Millar (im not a massive fan of Sin City, and his All Star Batman has many detractors, but i found it lots of fun).
Robert 'Walking Dead' Kirkman also has Invincible that is very reminniscent of early spiderman.
YES I AM A MASSIVE NERD.
