Just saw the news now, gutted for Jay. I still don't think he would've made Hodgson's final squad though, although I'm sure he would've been in the 30. He's had a great season and was in a really amazing run of form recently, but I still think the World Cup was coming a touch too soon. I always got the impression Hodgson was desperately trying to work out how he could take him ahead of Wellbeck. I think it took a while for him to really get a handle on how Jay plays and what he does for the team. Hodgson has watched Saints play so often recently though, that I think he eventually got a real understanding of how Jay works - especially alongside Lallana and Lambert. Obviously the injury is going to hold up his progress a bit, but I always felt like Euro 2016 would be a more likely shout for Jay if he continued improving at the rate he was doing. He's young and hopefully can come through his recovery strongly and emerge with no lasting damage, at the next world cup he should be in his prime. Get well soon Jay!

Fonte had a moment of madness. Absolutely gutted for jay. We more than matched them first half. The offside was ****ing ridiculous. Unbelievable. Gazza is ****. Really proud of the players and the way they played today.

I agree that his rhythm stick injury has held up his progress, but he's obviously quality. And he's now back to full fitness which are both reasons to be cheerful.

Not really. For one, I don't think they'll get a penny and two, as fun as this thread and my hatred of Pompey is - it can't change the fact that my team winning is always a good thing! If we beat city tomorrow I won't have a mixed feeling in my body. Maybe a mixed drink.

Well, when you've got a sick dog that needs to be put out of it's misery, you don't have to just shoot it in the head. No, if all it's vital signs point to doggy death but people are still having fun stroking it, you could just put it into some kind of retarded donkey monkey chicken sanctuary and just let it be. It'll lay there inoffensively and attract flies but somehow will not stand out against the other dogs wandering around in circles, bumping their heads or falling over from time to time. Would the dog be better off dead? Could people just stroke one of the marginally more healthy dogs? Sure, but this is the humane option. If you pay 5 quid at the gate you can even stroke it more than 3 times in one day... If you know what I mean. Tokyo knows what I mean. There's even a bear in this sanctuary, sometimes escapes but always comes back, lured by the fresh fishy smell of Japanese food. Anyway, Ambition is overrated?
