Potter - do You really think that is less risky and realistic considering we need someone now and he already has a job? If he did fancy throwing his career away for an 8 game relegation battle, is getting a manager with zero Premier League experience a good idea considering we need results straight away? He has done great in Sweden but throwing him into this season’s cluster-**** hoping he will instantly make an impact would be way way more risky than Hughes.

We all knew we would be looking at bargain basement options given our position, I don’t get why some are so against Hughes - who exactly were they expecting? We will probably go down regardless of who we hire even if we improve, we can only attract managers who won’t mind having Relegation on their CV, that’s the situation we are in.

Whoever we get will divide opinion. Who gives a ****e what some reporter thinks, I rate journos opinions about as highly as ****ed bloke down pub. Having the ability to write stories doesn’t mean you have any special knowledge of football.

Hughes’ record at Stoke wasn’t too bad, as a short term fix he could be what we need. Not sure why some on here seem to think we are in a position to pick and choose our ideal manager, there is going to be a limit to who we can attract.

I’d be happy with Hughes. It’s a fire-fighting job until the end of the season, you need someone with experience and stature who knows the Prem IMO.

They do appear to have an over inflated opinion on how good the squad is though, it wouldn’t surprise me if they thought they could muddle through until the summer and still survive. Josh Sim’s amazingly arrogant “we’re too good to go down” interview the other day showed how deluded they are.

It’s hard to think of any logical reason why they would relegate the club on purpose, the drop in income is so great it makes no sense financially. We have one of the most expensive squads outside the top 6 so could be in big trouble. I suppose in theory if the players have relegation clauses and take a big wage cut Gao could trouser a decent amount of transfer cash and leave us with the youth team in the Championship, then syphen off the parachute money like the skates owner. Still not sure it adds up tho.
