  1. If this happens you can put your house on us getting relegated, it wont even be close.
  2. What, making loads of money?
  3. How do we know this wasn't Marcus' plan all along?
  4. I expect he was just working to Cortese's Champions League pie in the sky plan which obviously required further investment, KL decided to go down another route - not sure you can blame the bean counter.
  5. It's not something I would like to bet on because it could very easily go either way. Keoman could be a top manager and our kids could be the next golden generation and we could be as good as last year. But at the moment I would bet on relegation, I think it's a very fine line between finishing mid-table and being in a relegation scrap. Our team has been ripped apart and we are basically starting from scratch - with a new manager who is untested in this league. I don't think our squad is as good as many think. We were lucky last year with injuries so the lack of strength in depth wasn't exposed. unless we make 4 or 5 top signings I think it will be a very long season. All the other football fans (non-Saints) in my office think we're nailed on to go down.
  6. I can understand the Lambert (even though we practically gave him away), Lallana, Shaw and Lovren sales but flogging Chambers makes no sense. We don't need the money, he's not in a position to force a move even if he wanted to. It's almost like the big clubs have been told to help themselves to whoever they want because we need to raise some cash.
  7. How is that any different to predicting we will stay up without knowing who we will sign?
  8. Maybe, and this is a novel idea, she wants to make some money out of her investment.
  9. OK, we will know KL wants to flog players and pull a **** load of money out of the club. I think it's obvious what is meant by it in this context.
  10. That looks a good bet to me. Sure, Keoman could be an inspired choice of manager and our kids may prove to be up to the job but there is a fair chance of complete meltdown.
  11. I expect Reed has the power to give the final yes or no but I doubt anyone will be signed who Keoman doesn't want.
  12. If we flog Chambers we know it is asset stripping IMO.
  13. I didn't mean that. I just think that the vultures might be circling because they know we are open to offers - because of a change in our financial situation. A year or so ago Cortese was chucking offers from Liverpool in the bin, now we are apparently powerless to resist anyone.
  14. Exactly so we don't have a clue. Players like Lovren, Osvaldo and Wanyama don't come to Southampton unless they are paid a lot. Also, I don't buy the idea that these big clubs have suddenly become interested in our players. I think there has always been interest, just now they have suddenly become available.
  15. But you don't know how much profit the owners want to make this year.
  16. The new guy said it was a difficult financial position, I tend to believe him over the back of fag packet calculations of people on here.
  17. I very much doubt Koeman would have took the job if there wasn't serious money to invest in the team.
  18. We can only judge after this season. I have a horrible feeling Reed is going to try and just use the young players instead of investing the cash, to try and appear to be the model club (future of English football) and all that crap. The focus should be of staying in the Premier League, it makes no difference to me if it is with a team full of kids or 11 foreign mercenaries brought in for top money. Of course if players like Targett, Reed, Gallagher etc come in and seamlessly replace those who left Reed would have been proved right. Only time will tell. If KL wants to pull £50mill out the club that is totally up to her.
  19. The good news is Reed has signed a contract. The bad news is this is what the club meant by new signings.
  20. Hope it's career ending.
  21. With Lovren gone we are starting to look very weak. In my opinion the minimum we need to sign is a keeper, a left back, at least one centre back and a striker before the season starts.
  22. I doubt the Bournemouth end will sell out.
