  1. I reads well and he's doing a good job but Rupert Lowe had us 4th in the Prem at christmas at one point, spending a fraction of what Cortese has.
  2. Steve, you need to delete that before Cortese reads it.
  3. Teaching is the default career for someone who graduates then realises their degree is not actually relevant to many jobs.
  4. Goalkeeper is the one position Brazilians are usually sh!t at anyway. Just go for someone else.
  5. I think it's naive to think Spurs are not a bigger draw than Saints. There are reasons why he might want to stay but Spurs could easily offer him the same 'project' but at a higher level. One thing that could put him off though is the fact that WHL is a manager's graveyard. I don't think Spurs would be interested to be honest. Poch has done well with us but it's not like he has won anything yet, we've spent a fortune and are 9th - that's it.
  6. I love the way they bang on about their players freezing in front of their 'massive crowds', it's ****ing hilarious. We regularly send 18 year olds out in front of 50-60K crowds, against some of the best teams in Europe, live on Sky to millions around the globe - not a problem. Their seasoned first team pros can't handle the pressure of playing Newport in front of 12-15K. Or maybe, just maybe, they are not very good at football?
  7. I don't think they will be after Pochettino, will probably go for a bigger name with a more successful CV.
  8. Pap, you tried to make our our lack of national pride was something to do with the tribal nature between our towns. That is obviously nonsense because it's the same all around the World.
  9. source?
  10. Do you seriously think that starting wars is OK just because it maintains our standard of living?
  11. Not really. If you price it cheap enough you will get bums on seats. 6 games free with a season ticket wasn't it? Looks great on the gate figures, not so great on the bank balance. And at the end of the day only one of those matters.
  12. If groundwater extraction does contribute to sea level rise then we should be even more concerned about adding to it with climate change.
  13. It is weird how the Scottish, Welsh and Irish can be so nationalistic yet we can't. I guess it's because we are so obviously better we are afraid it will come across and being arrogant to boast about it.
  14. The only lack of backbone is the MP's not having the balls to tell the so called experts that the obscene pay rise is not appropriate because for the last few years theywe have gone round telling the public "we are in this together" whilst making cuts all over the place. How about we save a bit of cash, put the IPSA on the dole and just link MP's pay to other public sector pay. If teachers and nurses get 1%, MPs get 1% - sounds fair to me.
  15. It should be transparent and save money. Otherwise how are we "all in this together"?
  16. In the spirit of austerity they should be costing the taxpayer less. What is the point of reforming the benefits if we are going to hand it back in salaries - makes no sense at all. It would be interesting to see how independent Ipsa actually are, I expect they are all in bed with the MPs anyway.
  17. Sounds like it's kicking off in the stands now.
  18. Can pompey be any more of a laughing stock?
  19. Skates fighting amongst themselves.
  20. It's not really bizarre though is it? People are late for stuff, that's life, it's not exactly one of the mysteries of the universe. i.) I'm guessing 9 out of 10 late-comers were just having a good time down the pub with their mates and lost track of time. I'm often late because I'm having a laff with mates I don't see that often and am not particularly fussed if I miss the first couple of minutes. Plus we traditionally tend to leave the pub 15mins before kick-off (think it goes back to the old Dell days) regardless of where we are drinking, after a few pints getting from anywhere in town to the ground in 15 seems achievable. This can be a bigger problem on away games, especially in London. ii.) At St Mary's it is physically impossible to watch the whole first half, queue for a beer, drink the beer and be back in your seat before the second half kicks-off. Unless you down it in one something has got to give. iii.) I guess some people just need to be somewhere after the game so can't afford to get stuck in traffic. Not really rocket science.
  21. They couldn't even be arsed to put the flag the right way up. It reads Por Play U.
  22. Lowe's biggest mistake was his wage structure - we ended up with a bloated squad of average £1-2mill players who were willing to play for peanuts. If you don't pay the going rate you won't attract the quality or keep the players you want. We could have used the money we did have much better through frees or loans. Lowe does deserve some credit for the stadium and academy but some of his footballing decisions (Rugby coach, Wigley, Poortvleit etc) were just plain bonkers and at the end of the day the only thing that determines success at a football club is the team on the pitch every Saturday - get that wrong and everything else is just meaningless.
