I don't think we need a big name manager but we do need someone who can have instant success - otherwise they will be on the receiving end of a Cortese bullet next May. It has to be easier for some one with a big name or big reputation to walk in and put a rocket up our players arses and get results. IMO

Foreign Manager - Zola Wow Factor Manager - Shearer English Manager - Brown

5Live Now on an awful week for Saints supporters

It doesn't matter who speaks to the press or what they say, you will still get the same dicks on here saying the usual "who do you think you are, you don't speak for you ****". -
It's gonna be Brown IMO.
-
To be fair, you're not half as weird as the person who took the Martin O'Neil stuff seriously, but thought he wouldn't be up to the job. That's bonkers.
-
I can't believe people are still banging on about Martin O'Neil. Weirdos
-
I see they are refusing to buy any pics from Saints. Gutter pres, rag, journos scum blah blah blah.....
-
I still think a D.O.F should take responsibility for results on the pitch. If having a good D.O.F doesn't mean better results then what is the point in him being there?
-
Feel free to PM me if you know.
-
wow!
-
I think anyone who mentions Martin O ****ing Neil should be put on a thread of shame and endlessly mocked as having no knowledge of football. Some who has just left Villa, and is being touted around to take over from Ferguson at Man U is not going to drop down to the 3rd tier.
-
But if the D.O.F brings in a poor head coach surely he is not doing his job properly so should be sacked?
-
I don't really know, just joining in this pretend to be ITK ******.
-
But surely the D.O.F has to be judged on results the same as the head coach. If the D.O.F has no influence on the success of the team what is the point in him being there? If Les Reed is a D.O.F he should pick the new head coach, if that head coach is not good enough, Les Reed should be fired for not doing his job properly.
-
I've just heard who it is. Not impressed.
-
I think people tend to over-complicate things, wether you have a D.O.F and Head Coach, or Manager and Coach makes little difference IMO. It's who they are and how they work together that's important. I have no problem with Les Reed (apart from the fact he was really really ****e at Charlton) but if he is working as a D.O.F he needs to take as much responsibility for results as whoever the next head coach is. If we don't get the results, both their heads are on the block.
-
Steve Clarke is a good shout, especially if they are going to have a continental system with a coach instead of a manager.
-
Continuity is desirable, the ONLY important thing at the moment is promotion to the Championship. Hiring someone because you think they might do a job if one day we make it back to the Prem in nonsense, it's going to be hard enough getting out of this league let alone the Championship.
-
I think you will find Mark Dennis is entitled to an opinion.
-
I actually noticed that last night, and I had drunk enough to kill a small horse by then. There is either some truth in the rumour and there is a split in the camp, or the rumours are nonsense and they are all ****ed off about the Pardew sacking.

I'm setting up the Association of Southampton Supporters, anyone else want to come in my A.S.S?

Professional footballers, like any professionals, put themselves under pressure. They have the weight of expectation of being favourites on their shoulders, pressure from the manager, fans and the press. They need a jumped up little banker telling them what they should be doing like a hole in the head. IMO
-
There is alot of pressure and Cortese seemed to enjoy piling more pressure on the shoulders of the manager and players, which I don't think has been a great help. At least now the pressure is all on Cortese. If he screws up this managerial appointment the liebherrs might start to think about replacing him with someone with a proven record of success at running a football club.
-
Today was a shining example of what happens when a lunatic chairman sacks a manager after a 4-0 win. Any team spirit they had has just been completely shot through.

Has to be the worst rumour thread ever.
