  1. There is still a fair chance of getting automatic, there is still tons of points to play for. I would be more confident if our manager wasn't talking about "learning lessons" like he did after Saturday. I thought he knew this league back to front, going to Huddersfield shouldn't be a lesson in anything.
  2. Looks like a complete disaster, the aircraft carriers would probably have been white elephants anyway but without aircraft what is the point? The current government are in a no win situation - you can only blame labour for signing the contracts. We should cut and run from Afganistan though, I don't see the point in spending millions on that war when we can't even afford a proper navy - complete madness.
  3. Surely if there is a settlement that rules out gross misconduct.
  4. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1207172/Sulaiman-Al-Fahim-insists-Portsmouth-takeover-track--ambassador-Diego-Maradona-100m-spend.html
  5. I see they are playing the same game again "we have to have it our way or the club gets liquidated and everyone loses out" Whilst that worked in the Prem, I don't think that will wash at all with the Football League.
  6. Guly definitely earned his place, plus if it doesn't work out Barnard would be a better impact sub - he looked fighting fit last week.
  7. And it's only £20 a ticket. They always said we got higher attendances because we practically gave tickets away. They really do have poor support.
  8. I disagree, I would say the players put more work in against Plymouth than they did against Tranmere. I think pro footballers generally try as hard as they can, I would put it more down to organisation and everyone knowing what their job in the team is. Better fitness and tactics also help.
  9. They obviously chose the wrong brother. Davids done the right thing and put as much distance between that baffoon and him as possible.
  10. Easily Chaplow and Hammond. Scheiderlin is a better passer and more skillful but the midfield looked better with Chaplow making forward runs. Scheiderlin tends to just ponce about making nice passes without getting from box to box.
  11. I don't think the person who got wacked has any choice in who gets charged with what.
  12. Of course there is a risk in not renewing Trident but I reckon it's worth taking. There are plenty of countries around the world who don't want/need nuclear weapons. If we stop sticking our nose in other countries business there is no reason why anyone would want to nuke us. Why Iran should concern us I do not know. Korea and China don't give a monkeys about us, and I'm pretty sure the US would act before their armies are massed in Calais. Russia and the potential Arctic conflict is the only threat to us, and in that case we would just be a pawn in a new Cold war - better off out of it altogether.
  13. Agree, that's why it's important that people from lower/middle incomes are not put off higher education.
  14. Education is not just about getting a job, it's about furthering knowledge. It's typical of today's world that people judge what is worth learning on the basis of how many £££'s you can grab at the end of it.
  15. My mate did the first year 3 times in a row, never got close to passing and never paid a penny just got his grant check and smoked loads of weed. I think some of his mates had been there longer but cant be sure - you might be right about the 3 year thing. The Uni definitely didn't give a monkeys as they got paid per student.
  16. I went to uni but probably wouldn't if I was starting out now - because of the fees. I suspect increasing them will put people off from lower/middle incomes. As Granty pointed out, it's not serious debt, but when I was 18 the idea of getting into debt scared me and I suspect people from poorer backgrounds wont like the idea of being in over 30K of debt. We all know the Tories would love it if only the rich went to the best Unis, and give their offspring the best chance over everyone else. That's why we should view these plans with caution. Having said that something needs changing, when I was at Uni many students were there for the scive, repeating years again and again. the Uni played along with it because they got their fees of the council.
  17. I think we are getting a little bit ahead of ourselves. Any development would need to be where the gravel place is and I guess they need to be situated there to receive gravel by boat.
  18. The last thought of everyone of them must have been "what was the ****ing point".
  19. Saturday was better than anything we saw under Pardew IMO. Cortese might just have got it spot on with the Adkins appointment. He knows this league better than Pardew and I think he is more motivated, he has more to prove. Still early days though, could just be new manager syndrome.
  20. We are all effected because it's our tax being handed out and cuts in other areas effect everyone.
  21. "There were hundreds of posts before the school bells had rung," says Freegard. Her children safely behind their desks, she decided to set up an online poll. Soon there were 2,500 responses. The message was clear: seven out of 10 mums opposed the change, believing it to be unfair on those who had paid their taxes and relied on their benefits." You couldn't get a more pointless poll, anyone annoyed at the cuts (obviously the middle class mums sat at home doing **** all) immediately logged on to make a point. Those in favour/not bothered about the change or at work would have had better things to do than go on some daft website.
  22. I would prefer it if they redeveloped St Mary's, I would hate to move to some out of town location. Having said that it would be worth knocking down a perfectly good stadium and building a second bigger one purely to **** pompey fans off.
  23. To be fair, a couple of years ago they were staring non-league football in the face and today are 10 places above a team that has traditionally been two leagues above them. It's a bit petty us having a dig at them for getting excited.
  24. Two 2-0 wins in a row and the mongs on SWF still find something to moan about.
