Nolan will be on £55k a season. That would be crazy for Saints to stretch to that sort of amount. Even half that, the player would have to be special to justify the expenditure.

Highly recommend Inverting the Pyramid by Jonathon Wilson. He also writes for the guardian football blog and has some interesting articles there. It goes through the history of tactics by formation. Easier read than one would think on a big book of tactics, also Saints get a mention too!

If only he could get his head (atitude, application and confidence) sorted out but he has some (if true)

Is this the new quiz question instead of naming the seven dwarfs? Ashdown, Mullins, Rocha, Kanu, ... jeez, I'm struggling!

I would have expected Notts Forest to be challenging top 6 this season, if anything there is a little doubt as to how McLaren will fair as there will not be a sizable budget for him to work with. He spent a fortune at Middleborough to help them succeed.

I think this thread should be hypo'd. -
IIRC, the special tariff ends this year or will be reduced (there was an article in the DT a few months back). So anyone thinking about it should do it by the end of the year.

Skates, like other clubs, but only in this instance, will start the contract on the 1st July when the old one has run out. Why pay an extra month before you have to? Although why they don't announce the deal probably means one isn't in place.

This. I just don't rate him as a Manager, in his time in Scotland he bailed out before things went for a burton.

It's how the earth's atmosphere scatters the light from the sun. The gas in the atmosphere absorbs And then radiates blue light. Look up the Rayleigh process. Say hi to Deppo.

How do you know he doesn't? I don't think it fair to call him a knob because you didn't get his humour and besides he cannot defend himself on here. Option two for me, in Nicola we trust.

Which is strange as I cannot remember the last time the press knew about a Saint's signing before it happen. It's pure speculation, as I suppose with Oxo staying. I just hope he does as I would like to see a period of team building rather than all the chopping and changing we're had over many recent seasons (excluding the last one).

Although the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, domestic transfers between clubs in the same association (eg England or Scotland) can take place as soon as a club completes its last competitive 2010/11 fixtures. However, many transfers or signings, although agreed and announced at this time, will not formally go through until 1 July because the majority of players' contracts expire on 30 June.

in the best facilities available as Fifa will be introducing new regulation for homegrown talent. This is one reason, along with the current PLs rules on homegrown players on why Phil Jones (£16m) and Henderson (£16m rising to £20m) have cost so much for their respective new clubs. Fifa's new rule will introduce a system whereby nine players on every 18-man squad sheet must be homegrown Buried amid the eulogies for their president, Sepp Blatter, national associations at Fifa's congress this month voted in favour of new youth development measures. Fifa's player‑status committee, headed by the former Football Association chairman, Geoff Thompson, is holding discussions with national associations, the European Clubs Association and Fifpro as it works up the new rules. Domestic leagues have not yet been invited to have their say. Thompson told the congress: "We must use the qualities associated with the 6+5 concept [a proposal under which clubs would have been compelled to field at least six homegrown players] in trying to manage a workable solution." The 6+5 idea died a death amid opposition from clubs and, more importantly, from the European Union, which outlawed regulation according to players' nationality. The compromise agreement football struck with the EU was for eight players from every 25-man squad to have been developed within the fielding club's national association, which is now part of the Premier League rules. Until now, Fifa youth-development regulation has not impacted on team selection. But if talks on the new regulations develop as Fifa hopes, then it will. New legislation is expected to be only about a year away. No wonder Henderson and Jones have cost so much.

Actually, I think it maybe soon from what Mr Clarke has said so far: Clarke said if the proposal was passed the next six months would be spent on developing a system and ensuring it was fair and transparent. I suppose all will be revealed after the FL clubs meeting. I know for sure 2014 will be when UEFA's rule will commence.

I heard that even if passed, any new rules will not come into effect until the 2014 season.

I've found Metacritic is a pretty good site to find out a bit about music. I agree with Phil though, you'll be hard pressed to find a radio station playing alternative music (i.e. not pop), the days of John Peel are long gone. Radio 6 was good at the start, but it's been a while since I listen to it.

I've burnt out one shredder with the back-log of confidenfial paperwork, but certainly worthwhile getting one but obviously not shredding in one mega session!

The same happen to me including all my wage slips from when I started work 25 years ago! Much depends if you keep them to refer to later, if not bin them. I've saved so much space and haven't needed the paper work. Anything to do with the tax man I keep for 5 years.
