  1. Thanks Deppo, J9 doesn't receive PMs. Dune - helpful as ever.
  2. Hi guys, not the best time to loss heating in the house but my boiler has given up. I've followed the instructions to turn it on but the pilot light will not start. It's an automatic boiler so it's a simple turn on, turn the thermostat between min and max and the fan starts (which it does) followed by an ignition spark (which doesn't). The house thermostat is on 20 and heating set to on. No pressure gauge is visible. It's not a condenser boiler so no outside pipe frozen. Am I missing something or is there anything I could try before calling an emergency plumber? British Gas can not come out until the 6th January!
  3. Well they are playing like the first team, too many missed chances.
  4. This is bizarre that we are top of the shooting table yet have only scored 26 goals. Only Colchester above us have scored less (25) but are way down the shooting table and Oldham have scored 27 from one less game and are still getting a better return. Is it down to accuracy, mental application to stick the ball in the back of the net, too many shots from distance or what? And how to resolve it? It seems to be effecting one player more than most: http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Shooting/0,,10794~201010280~25,00.html
  5. What is a major competition and perhaps you can clarify what big club means. I don't really get your point as what expectation is there for the evertons, villas and boltons?
  6. Last season when they won the championship under Hughton. HTH.
  7. Please help people, there are lost words out there that need saving!
  8. Not totally related but funny, something from Digger in the guardian: An early day motion cropped up in Westminster on Monday. "That this House believes that it would be a good idea if all those involved in the failed World Cup bid showed a little humility and good grace instead of continually whingeing and moaning about the unfairness of Fifa and the bidding process and, while regretting that England was able only to accumulate two votes out of 22, congratulates Russia and Qatar on their success," Labour's Roger Godsiff proposed. Digger will not argue with the analysis that people should not try to rehabilitate their own reputations at the expense of English international relations in football. But as of yesterday Godsiff had mustered little support. Indeed the sole signatory was the Liberal Democrat MP for Portsmouth South, Mike Hancock. Hold on, that name rings a bell, doesn't it? Sure does: his researcher, Katia Zatuliveter, was last week arrested after MI5 alleged she has links to Russia's foreign intelligence service, the SVR. Shouldn't this be time to keep your head down, Mike?
  9. But will the new man have money to spent as Hughton didn't. I believe he was told it was frees and loans so he's done a good job. I cannot see Lallana going up there, better to see out his contract this summer. I just hope we get promoted which may persuade him to stay.

  11. England lost because the team didn't understand the role they had to play in making the FIFA exec think: what's in it for FIFA, what's in it for my region and what's in it for me (not necessarily personal gain but a legacy in name). Perhaps if the England bid team got hold of Mike Lee, the outcome would have been different?? Still doesn't change the fact most of the FIFA suits are corrupt ****s.
  12. The whole concept of eduction is now far to complicated. I have two in primary school and that is difficult enough. It seems that any change in DofE personnel in government will introduce change in policy, not necessarily for the good but just so they can say what they did! Have a look at the national strategies to see not only what the teachers have to cover but how. An example of a needless change is in the way KS1&2 maths are taught - the content is the same but the policy makers have broaden the scope of certain concepts (eg. counting) to include other things like shapes. This would be OK if backed up by some research to say it's advantageous to teach this way but talking to the head teacher of the school my girls go to, it's a change for no reason. Unfortunately, as schools are audited against the national ciriculum and strategy they have to comply.
  13. So not bad, £30m debt down to £8m, I just hope the interest rate is reasonable. Good luck, I think you'll need it with MM there.
  14. But interested enough to comment on a cup thread. Strange.
  15. Pre-season expectations were high, then it all fell apart! Annoyed with the Pardew situation in that it wasn't sorted out earlier. Sad to see him go but glad that Adkins came in. It seems there are a few issues still to resolve in terms of play - CB partnering, Schneiderlin and Lambert's form. I still worry that we aren't picking up more points to close the gap to the top quicker, but that's my impatience. I suppose as long as we are in the top two at the end of the season does it matter how we get there. So now, hopefully upwards with improving away form and I hope Lallana signs a new deal.
  16. So BWP has found his scoring touch in League One, I don't know how many were one-on-ones are in that 10 but if he finds himself in the Championship I don't think he would be topping the scoring charts or anywhere near the top. Anyway, if Barney needs an op, we need cover for at least FIVE weeks.
  17. There are only 29 league games plus the FA cup. So you really think he'll score 20+ goals over these games? Even if he improves, I would think knocking in another 15 would be a huge achievement.
  18. Good news! Forecast now states it will be 2 degrees. PS With a +25k crowd, don't forget to cover the windscreen of your cars if you want a quick get away.
  19. I didn't realise FIFA did anything like this (goal of the year), some fantastic goals being scored. You can vote here: http://www.fifa.com/ballondor/puskasaward/index.html Be sure to check out the goal from Matthew Burrows, MLT would have been proud of scoring one like that.
  20. The law, as presented by The Highway Code, states that front and rear fog lights must not be used unless visibility is seriously reduced - which generally means when you cannot see further than 100 metres (328 feet) - and that they must be switched off once the visibility improves. Using rear fog lights when visibility is greater than 100 metres can mask the brake lights and dazzle those drivers following, thus increasing the risk of a rear-end collision rather than reducing it. Front fog lights should only be used where visibility is seriously reduced and should be adjusted so as not to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to other road users. The inappropriate use is dangerous as it can affect the oncoming driver's ability to see cyclists, pedestrians, and also the road.
  21. I think better should mean a better suited player in terms of temperament, experience and skill to fit in with the team after all, we are a League One team.
  22. So Puncheon gets time away to either find the form he had last season, a break from the club or put himself in the 'shop window'. If he does leave I presume the club have a replacement in mind be it a squad player (e.g. Holmes) or a fresh face. My expectation of him were high considering the hype of him joining and also his early impact. He does have talent and I hope he can fulfill it but it seems he's one of those guys who at the moment will not settle down for what ever reason. I'd be happy with a player who works hard, can deliver a good cross and plays for the shirt and the team, we have AL and AOC who can provide the extra skill to thrill the crowd.
  23. Agree. I would imagine the debt has been restructured and taken on by the new company, just like the assets. The report is badly worded.
  24. That would be nice to see. Puncheon to start even though he didn't play well against Oldham for me. He has some decent form this season and oxo is useful for the last thirty minutes or so with his pace.
  25. It needs to be if the club get into the premiership in the next 3-4 years. It would be nice to see as many of them make the grade here.
