The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
Doctoroncall replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
the footy agent who was eluding to NA getting the Saints job is stating the WHU lad Junior Stanislas in. Cannot see it myself as he already has eleven starts under his belt from last season. -
The reason that we aren't scoring......

I agree with Shurlock that the full backs were brought in to add a different type of attack, although whether the players knew this or didn't get what AP was saying is another matter! One thing we know about Adkins from his time at the Iron is he is capable of using 'ordinary' talent and getting the most out of players so he will at least give the current players a chance. Considering he was able to make the Iron play well and as a unit, I think he has the players here to do the same. The only challenges are if a player doesn't buy into it and the time to turn the results around for a promotion push (2pts per game now). I'm not going to expect much in the next month, hopefully we can get a scrappy win or two while style and tactics come together over a longer term. -
It depends on what the requirements are, the operation process and whether it fits into the existing infrastructure, vendor support etc. E.g. is it purely a ticket entry system or also a vending facility? Is it a system that sits on PC or is networked to entry gates etc... Also, as I'm sure you realise, it has to be sufficiently tested as I'm sure if it goes wrong there will be some mightly pee'd off people, and that will add to the costs.

It was stated (somewhere in this thread) that it is being looked into with Radio Solent, however no date was given. HTH.

I cannot see any club giving him a chance now and he will be in the wilderness for a few years again before another chance comes his way. Just a feeling.

There is no eggscape, everyone will make a meringue out of you!

I can understand that, as that is the risk I see. But at least Adkins had to deal with the step up from physio to manager working and the guy is obviously intelligent enough to work out how to get the best from the team with only a small budget available. For me he's an improvement on Pardew as he doesn't carry any baggage and is from what I've seen and heard is a far better communicator. PS... let's hope he'll be our Owen Coyle - a manager that got Burnley promoted on a shoestring and has changed Bolton style of play and is expected to get them in the top six.

If I resign, I'm on a 3 month notice period, my manager is on 6 months. Do you expect Adkins to work his notice period or do you really think football works the same way? -

It makes you wonder why the Irons released a statement to the press this morning, doesn't it! -
Is that because you are thinking about Doncaster?

The Guardian are stating Brown hoping to be named.

hahaha... it's rocket!

Its the eligility versus suitablility argument. Someone like MoN is well qualified but probably not a good fit into the organisation whereas Adkins is a better fit and so is more likely to grow into the role and stay if any good.
-
But isn't that what is required to have someone that can help in the transition, besides I don't believe the scunny squad is that different to ours age-wise.

They sold their star keeper for a seven figure sum to Burnley I think. So where has that money gone? -
Foreign Manager - Zola (but with Clarke) Wow Factor Manager - Martin O'Neil Up & Coming English Manager - Adkins

One of the biggest issues is the integration and step up of academy and development players into the first team, if Les Reed can help reduce the player wastage, then Saints are in a better position. If he interferes with first team with selections, tactics and training then that's a different issue but is there any evidence that has happened?
-
I suppose it depends on what the job you are comparing them to do. As coach from a developmental side, Reed seems well respected, I don't know whether he is any good but expect Cortese to wield the axe in the same way he has with Pardew if the development squad doesn't deliver. When Saints are advancing through the leagues and the bar is raised we'll see if Reed can keep up and at that stage better coaches would consider Saints more of an attractive proposition.

I wonder if the Liverpool fans had the same reaction to Bob Paisley who also was their physio?
-
That's what I thought but Lambert changed the starting eleven quite dramatically from the players that Gunn bought/brought in. It just goes to show what impact a manager can have on a squad.
