  1. That wasn't so much of a problem, it was the way they did it especially this time of year with the weather patterns in the US.
  2. And that's the whole point, if Alpine used the form up until that date to predict where Saints would finish last season, it was shown to be wrong. I don't know what Alpine is predicting this season or what he is basing it on. I've seen the lack of cover in central midfield, lack of pace, lack of creativity, not a good pre-season and AP not knowing how to play the team. All have their own merits of concern but also can be remedied in weeks.
  3. Could the court case be bogged down in discussing the issue of image right payments? Just a quick search on the interent brought up various articles of HMRC in dialog with PL clubs regarding payment to image companies and tax liabilities: http://www.accountingweb.co.uk/topic/tax/tax-and-football-image-rights-issue/399432 http://www.accountingweb.co.uk/anyanswers/manchester-united-image-rights image rights explained
  4. This just shows how the skates are just trying it on again... will they ever learn? To put the names to the player count he they are. "First team": 1. Mokoena 2. Hreidarsson 3. TBH 4. Wilson 5. Ward 6. Mullins 7. Brown 8. Hughes 9. Boateng 10 Ritchie 11 Nugent 12 Utaka 13 Webber 14 Smith 15 Belhadj (sold?) others playing on tour: 16 O'Brien 17 Kilbey 18 Ciftci 19 Ryan 20 Gregory 21 Martin 22 Pack Others somewhere: 23 Cowan-Hall 24 Hurst (loaned out) 25 Goddard Players trying to get rid of: 26 Nlundulu 27 Subotic 28 Hughes (j) Trialists Ashdown Jordan Stewart So thats 28 players but reports that Billy Goddard, Perry Ryan, Ellis Martin and Peter Gregory will not be counted as well as Hurst who is loaned out to an icelandic team for the season brings in down to 23 with belhadj in limbo as to whether he has been sold.
  5. And every day the players aren't sold is cash that is moving into that blackhole, never to return to the skate universe.
  6. Gambling is a dangerous game, especially with the HMRC.
  7. Worked at a motorway services while between courses. I lasted 3 months but was amazed at how some workers were there after a few years. It was dull. The best part was working on the huge dishwasher (3m long) when it was busy as you just kept you going for the whole shift. Nights where OK as you could scoff the decent food! There are certain things I wouldn't eat because of the experience of working there such as pies, although the dishes were put through the dishwasher most of the time there wasn't time to clean them properly so for the next customer there was a bit of pastry from the previous pie! Also the cream desserts only got changed when a customer complained it was off. That was 22 years ago so it would be interesting to see if practises have changed. Soon got out of that as the money was **** poor as well as the management.
  8. He was a trialist... I wonder if they have a duty of care towards him if he has broken his leg?
  9. I was assuming he will go as the most valuable asset. £3.2m was the figure I've seen. Perhaps it is one of those that the player wants to go somewhere else but the price being offered is lower from the club... we'll just have to wait and see!
  10. It's not exactly what you'd call saving up for a CVA! Paying off contracted players at a rate of up to £3k a week (£150k a year) in exchange for a more competent player adding more on to the wage bill. Maybe they could be excused if they have raised more than £15m required to service the CVA but are currently £11.4m short. But no, all AA can bleat about is a level playing field and being competitive and we've all heard that before!
  11. It's strange to take the view of cutting the air force because of the under use of £100m aircraft, but the trident replacement is protected for the same reason. It's time to move on from the empire days and get an appropriate level of armed forces but are equiped to the highest standard.
  12. They have O'Brien the England U-19s keeper and another as trialist. Ashdown is recovering from an injury and will not be avialable until the last match on the US tour.
  13. When it comes to Americans, it's a shoot when possible action rather than making 100% sure the target is what it was thought to be.
  14. I don't know why I'm doing this, but in the interest of fairplay and an end to this futile argument, the 7,500 figure quoted seemed to be made more in jest as he did say a few posts down 9-10k. No need to ask him to conceed, it's all there for everyone to see and STs will still be on sale for another few weeks so hopefully sales will reach the 15k mark.
  15. I got an e-mail sometime ago regarding the latest news at Saints which contained information regarding season tickets.
  16. Agree, but with nearly three weeks left to purchase a ST, if the 15,000 mark is achieved I would rate that as significant and it looks a distinct possibility.
  17. I always try to get a balance between eligibility (experience, looking at the qualifications and references) and suitability (fit with team, aptitude and versatility) but if there is a standout candadite who is more suitable, then training can address eligibility and they are more likely to stay longer with the company.
  18. Agree, as I would with a big name signing that has the potential to cause a rift in the squad for being the special player, afterall it's a team sport so a player that can fit into the team and do well at championship level would do for me (eg Fonte).
  19. something like 3 Yellows and 2 Reds in his short career iirc.
  20. Any buyer would be able to negotiate debt repayment with the creditors - they could do it through the administrator or directly I think. I'm not sure how ML/NC did it in our case but that was easy peasy compared to the mess down the road.
  21. If they want to play in the football league, it doesn't work like that. In both Leeds and Luton cases, the new owners had to stump up more or less the same as was stated in the failed CVA. Maybe AA better get the Conference guys on the phone, but considering how they deal with Clubs in debt (Chester, Weymouth, Salisbury) it will be out of the frying pan into the fire
  22. That's if they don't wait for the court case. It would be great to see AA squirm in court meanwhile seeing the squad being depleted and the worst start to the Championship ever go with their Premier League one from last season.
  23. Not only will we see the relegated sides compete in the top six that come down from the PL but with the such a wide margin between the champ and L1 the same will happen there. I think in a few years time, the Champ will be more predictable, just as the PL is. Good luck to Blackpool, I hope they make more use of the money than the skates and I hope we can make a speedy return before the gap becomes to great. Umm, just thought any relegated side that makes an instant return to the PL will no longer receive the parachute payments. I beleive they are spread out to the champ sides bar the newly relegated sides the following season. So perhaps the gap may not be so great?
  24. They can make the figures suit whatever situation as the griffin CVA illustrates a different perspective. I also suspect the players on the £2-3k a week salary, like the first teamers have been over paid for what they really are worth.
  25. Has AA got anything right in this process?
