  1. Would be signing a guy with reasonable Prem pedigree if this came off. If we're still around the top 2 or 3 in Jan, I think we'll be a far more attractive proposition than we were in the summer.
  2. There has also often been talk of a European Super League, which would've seen Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea etc disappear off to play games against the likes of Real Madrid, Barca, the Milan clubs & Bayern Munich on a permanent basis rather than in the poor replacement for the old European Cup, the Champions League but this has never materialised (I actually reckon this would be a benefit to the rest of the League's teams as it would make for more open competition in our top division!). Every now and again another bright idea comes to the fore but never actually comes to anything (the 39th Premier League game being another) and I'd imagine this will soon been filed alongside them. In fact the only really radical idea which has ever come into being in this country, is the Premier League itself, IMO. This has probably come from clubs like Blackburn who look like relegation fodder every year and would like to hold onto the cash without any stress caused by (yet) another relegation battle.
  3. Hahahahaha! Hope he works the same magic on Poopey as he did on the last P..mouth he managed!!
  4. Pretty much. Do you recall Ireland and Wales fighting over him to represent them and he eventually chose the Irish? You've made my mind up; if Mickey Evans played international football, Rickie Lambert certainly can!!
  5. I guess the question I should've posed was could Rickie play international football because the thing about playing for Ireland or anyone else can ring true. If Rickie had a gran who was Northern Irish, say, then would he be effective for them at international level. Iain Dowie was and to my mind Rickie is at least his equal.
  6. Entirely a hypothetical musing but watching Mackail-Smith do a decent enough job for the Scots tonight made me wonder whether Rickie could ever step up to international football level? Not by any stretch of the imagination saying he should be picked ahead of Rooney, Bent, Sturridge, Defoe or whoever but just a simple thought: could he cut it for England if there was a striker shortage and he was picked? I definitely believe he'll outscore Mackail-Smith in the Championship this year but could he do a job for an international side as CMS is clearly doing?
  7. This. Unfortunately.
  8. Sensational news from the trial - Judge: "The jury has found you guilty Mr Barnard but, in view of your employment by such a fine football club, I hereby sentence you to go and score many goals against those filthy Skate b*stards in December. Next!"
  9. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/9295929.Beattie_hails_the_Adkins_effect/ Nice words from Beatts although I don't know if it's gonna get him a contract!!
  10. Not before 2? Judge having a lie-in?
  11. Lol. Just like I like to remember Howells the goalie.
  12. Interesting name to 'pull of the hat' at random. Q for the OP: is this someone we've actually been interested in or just a punt that he's an emerging talent that could be of interest to us?
  13. Lol. Which is unfortunate because I'm in a room full of people who now think I'm a nut.
  14. Yes, I'd be gutted to have 2 Rickie Lambert's up front...
  15. This. + our whole start has been absolutely brilliantly mentally good. A bit like our football at times.
  16. What else do you know Mr Thevman???
  17. Scott Marshall.
  18. Get him in until Jan and see what shape he's in. Give him a challenge and see whether he's up to it: take Rickie's place if you can...
  19. So, for those that were at the game, did Jay Rodriguez look like a player we should've been trying to spend £5million+ on?
  20. Don't get me wrong, IMO it was a reasonable point yesterday, especially having only equalised on 80 mins, but could we have nicked all 3 if we'd had another striker to turn to on the bench (not just a winger who can play up front)?
  21. Why don't Arsenal just f**k off & concentrate on their own youngsters instead of obsessing with ours?
  22. Any news on what this announcement might be? Decent loan striker would be nice...
  23. 'Til England come calling, after a prolonged period of our European & Domestic domination, and, even then, NC will say "screw England, I'm Italian, I refuse to release him".
  24. Corrected for you.
  25. Ok, what if it's Lallana & Guly who have gone off injured and we're chasing the game. Chappers does well breaking forward but wouldn't you rather have the extra option of another forward alongside De Ridder on the bench? Personally, I would but that's football - opinions and all that!
