  1. Get him in until Jan and see what shape he's in. Give him a challenge and see whether he's up to it: take Rickie's place if you can...
  2. So, for those that were at the game, did Jay Rodriguez look like a player we should've been trying to spend £5million+ on?
  3. Don't get me wrong, IMO it was a reasonable point yesterday, especially having only equalised on 80 mins, but could we have nicked all 3 if we'd had another striker to turn to on the bench (not just a winger who can play up front)?
  4. Why don't Arsenal just f**k off & concentrate on their own youngsters instead of obsessing with ours?
  5. Any news on what this announcement might be? Decent loan striker would be nice...
  6. 'Til England come calling, after a prolonged period of our European & Domestic domination, and, even then, NC will say "screw England, I'm Italian, I refuse to release him".
  7. Corrected for you.
  8. Ok, what if it's Lallana & Guly who have gone off injured and we're chasing the game. Chappers does well breaking forward but wouldn't you rather have the extra option of another forward alongside De Ridder on the bench? Personally, I would but that's football - opinions and all that!
  9. Antti was one of our best keepers ever and what use was he when we needed him at Nottarf? In reality, I guess having a broader range of outfield players may mean we're able to adapt to more situations should the need arise which is more likely than losing a keeper for whatever reason. I do take the point that only 3 can play but it might benefit us in more games across a season to have the extra option rather the unlikely situation that our keeper has to go off.
  10. Ok, why have you named yourself after ex-P*mpey favourite Martin Allen?
  11. Wasn't Jonno Quick meant to provide that option though? Probably allies this thread to the other I started about whether or not we need a keeper on the bench but, in the majority of games, who would we probably use more, Jonno (or another striker) or Bart?
  12. Anyone think that going with 5 outfield players as subs, to give us an extra option during a game might be worth the risk? Must only be a very few games in a season when any club has to sub their keeper whereas the need to replace an outfield player to influence a game or hold on to what you've got is far more frequent. Can't help feeling it's worth the gamble.
  13. Scoring goals aplenty at the moment but can't help feeling an extra option up front would really top things off, particularly if we start finding ourselves going behind in games. Would bringing an up and coming young Prem forward be the answer *****il Jan) or could it potentially disrupt our brilliant start to the season?
  14. We're Southampton, we'll do what we like. And that means get promotion. There, I've said it.
  15. My wife & I went for a brilliant and yet shallow compromise for our son: Matthew (as in Le Tiss) Louis (as in Vuitton handbags). We were both happy. Our daughter was a few days away from being called Lucy (after a certain well known lady Saint) but the name was vetoed when my wife found out the reason why...
  16. Great, great stuff. Absolutely gobsmacked by such a wonderful start to the season but loving it.
  17. ...what does he need to do to achieve legendary status at SMS? Return us to the Prem? Win a 'proper' trophy? Cancel the ticket tax? Or does he already have it after persuading Markus to save us? Thoughts anyone?
  18. Interesting to see how many of us want to turn Brighton over (myself included) considering we don't "care" about them. Presumably it's mainly Poyet-based but interesting nonetheless.
  19. Brighton definitely. Used to quite like them but that evaporated when Poyet started his nonsense. A big win home and away with every goal away from home being contentious and with Poyet whining like a b1tch about each but ultimately being unable to do anything about them. Forest was another (job done although not to the extent I'd like!) and Cardiff (should be playing in the Welsh Leagues instead).
  20. Just started a thread suggesting we sign Tamas Priskin. This seems to have been met with universal derision. This would be my first ever 'you know nothing about football' moment as my opinions have been, up until that point, perfect. Apart from the time I thought Ian Branfoot would be a welcome change from Chris Nicholl. And the time I suggested Andreas Jakobsson might turn out to be the new Svensson. And he was, he defended just like Anders....
  21. Nigel: "Was that a penalty, Deano?" Wilkins: "Dunno, couldn't see it..."
  22. CHDAJFU? Wants to go out on loan from Ipswich & could be a useful option IMO.
  23. Is he a Saints fan? Saw a brick on the fans wall for a 'Daniel Ings' when my son was trying to find my own.
  24. Wonder whether we could tempt them with a loan followed by a permy move in January? They added 2 strikers around deadline day + have Iwelumo & Deeney already. Perhaps we could offer £3999999 as a loan fee with a permanent deal for £1 in January?!
  25. They were right in the end though, weren't they, as he ended up at Arsenal. Also, I'm sure I read that NC said (at the fans dinner) that we believed Oxo had had a secret medical at Arsenal during January, which considered reporting to the FA - maybe this is what the Mirror were reacting to? Think Sordell would be a cracking signing, if there's anything in this, maybe even more so than Rodriguez.
