Was a classic mistake on their part; mistook Cortese for a mug, definitely, to take up the option to extend the contract and then watch in horror as the target you intended to fleece backed away. Funny & disappointing (for us & Antonio) in equal measure.

Shame Bristol City's game has been called off. If he had had a medical with us, I doubt whether he'd have played for them tonight. Hopefully irons were in the fire from the moment we were aware Oxo was off & someone will be joining soon. The rumours of 'massive' bid(s) on Friday, if true, would tend to support this theory.

Now Chambo's all but gone - maybe it was his departure being finalised? Such is the professionalism at Saints nowadays, though, I wouldn't be surprised to see some of that cash go straight back out and a signing be announced tonight!!
