  1. Thought of another. What about Ronnie Ekelund? Was delighted when we got him off Barcelona & even more delighted when he played his first few games. What a player & linked beautifully with Le Tiss. Then came the back injury & disagreement over treatment & he was never the same again. Gutted for him & us.
  2. With the news that Gaston Ramirez has been released today, to end his highly unsuccessful spell at the club, it made me wonder about which signings others were overjoyed that Saints had made only for that deal to ultimately end in real disappointment. The player doesn't have to be among the most expensive or high profile signings we've made (but clearly this does heighten anticipation), just ones which ended up being a real disappointment for you. Gaston would certainly be one, for me. I was delighted when he signed as I thought were making a real statement having just rejoined the Premier League and particularly as we'd rammed Lawrenson's remarks back down his throat, when he said he'd never sign for us. Now I wish Lawro had been right! Another would have to be our first million pound player, Alan McLoughlin. He was decent enough but suffered from being shoehorned into a system which didn't suit him, by Chris Nicholl. Any other offerings?
  3. John Burridge was such a good back up to Tim Flowers when he first signed, he even ended up stealing Flowers' place for a couple of seasons!
  4. So this another one, like Toby, we're going to lose out on? Gutted.
  5. Good to see one of our academy CBs has continued to have a career in the lower leagues: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36350124
  6. Thanks for the update. Juanmi, not surprised given his little game time after breaking into the Spanish squad before signing for us Mane, will be a massive loss as he simply scares teams with his pace and skill Pelle, can imagine he fancies a move back to Italy while his stock is high as one of the national team's main strikers Tadic, brilliant on his day but not for long enough periods across a season. Might be able to replace with better Wanyama, can be a formidable defensive shield when his mind is set right but can also dawdle through games when it's not. Might actually be the hardest one to replace. Oh well, it'll keep the summer interesting once England have crashed out of the Euros.
  7. Schneiderlin looks so happy. Just think, he had one of the best seats in the house to watch that.
  8. Hmmm. Slightly controversial? We have a Swiss owner... Dignitas?
  9. Maybe he really is the 4th emergency centre back?
  10. I almost always vote for the Saints entry but, on this occasion, I can hand on heart say it was done because I think it was the best goal not because it was scored by my team. If Roberto Carlos' effort is much lauded then so should this be because the swerve is as immense but, unlike Carlos' goal, the ball was moving when Cuco hit it.
  11. If I promise to keep my fingers crossed to help speed this up for you, can I have £1 million too? Every little helps...
  12. I actually think we could. But not in a way which would really create the revenue we'd be seeking to pay for the extension and progress as I think it would have to involve a reduction in ticket price.
  13. Zlatan's name does not fit onto the shirt, the shirt is made to fit Zlatan's name.
  14. Not so much loose as fallen out.
  15. Dani Osvaldo, he wants to come home! No?
  16. I'm taking no chances with this so I'm going to boo him from the off, on Sunday. After all, maybe he's been holding us back, like Nigel Pearson did to Leicester.
  17. I can't see it happening but it would be interesting to see whether he turned out to be more of a Kevin Keegan for us or more of a Mark Hughes...
  18. Congratulations Leicester. Brilliant, brilliant stuff. Wasn't watching the Spurs v Chelsea game but seen lots of stuff about the bad behaviour of the Spurs players at the end. What's was that all about?
  19. Rickie Lambert, he wants to come home! But does Koeman have room for sentimentally?
  20. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/14464729.Pelle_dropped_for_lack_of__intensity__in_training/ A lack of intensity in training according to Ronnie...
  21. From the training gallery in the OS, looks like Charlie Austin may be fit again. Hopefully City will have one eye on the CL 2nd leg not us. They can trust Arsenal enough to mess up to allow us a win!
  22. A major factor in Leicester's success this season has been down to the extra mobility Kante has brought to their midfield. Drinkwatwr has improved, certainly, but Kante's unbelievable energy is like them having an extra man at times. Plus he can really play too.
  23. I saw Ronald said Austin was out again tomorrow but did he give a sense of whether we will see him again this season? I thought he said it'd be 1 week, last week?
  24. A good win which I didn't think would be in doubt once we got the early goal. One of those wins where you got the sense we could've kicked on and dished out a thrashing but lost our way with the second half subs. Newcastle looked like a side accepting of their fate until Townsend scored and, even then, didn't really put us any consistent pressure. They do have some decent players in that side but the defence is woeful. Whilst relegation is devastating for a club's fans (& on occasion bank balance!), I do wonder whether the better players (or those with over inflated egos) see it as a stepping stone to a move elsewhere with a signing on fee pay day.
