  1. Good point, another clean sheet, a keeper in supreme form & had we had a top class finisher available, like Austin, we could even have pinched it. On to the next one when Charlie hopefully takes some frustration out on the West Ham owners
  2. Wrong thread...
  3. From the Beeb's deadline day coverage: I may be biased but I make those 46% right (unless someone makes an even more stupendous signing later on today).
  4. Makes a fair point, I'd say...
  5. None in or out according to Koeman, except maybe Reed or Stephens on loan. Nothing (much) to see here... http://www.snappytv.com/tc/1324786/552623
  6. Koeman is speaking to the press at 10am today, ahead of tomorrow night's game with Arsenal. Could be a swift end to this thread if he gives a firm 'none in, none out' message...
  7. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/14244014.Transfer_Deadline_Day___live_/?ref=mac The Echo are up & running too! Could be a quiet day for them unless we are loaning 1 or 2 out, I'd have thought.
  8. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/35238092 The Beeb have their usual deadline day live report up & running. Wonder if Jim White over at Sky leapt out of bed with excitement with the arrival of one of his 2 favourite days of the year???
  9. Could be useful to sum up the day, especially looking at Prem rivals, but doubtful we'll be seeing any new arrivals, I'd say, given Ronnie has the striker he says he wanted?
  10. £5 million buys his quiff. The rest costs more... The idea of getting Austin was to supplement our existing forward options not replace them, surely? Unless Jay Rod is nearer fitness than we think our we're planning another new arrival?
  11. http://www.kenyan-post.com/2016/01/victor-wanyama-is-now-ready-to-sign-new.html?m=1 The Kenyan Post seems confident about a deal too!
  12. How about the extremely simplistic: Charlie Austin, Charlie Austin, Charlie Austin, Charlie Austin ...to the Tom Hark tune by the Piranhas. No chance of forgetting the words there! Does unfortunately conjure up memories of the Harry & Jim era...
  13. Based on the assumptions that all 4 of our central forwards will one day be fit at the same time and we continue to play 1 up top with Mane behind him, which of these 4 would you select as our main striker? For me, given the amount of chances we've spurned this year, I'd have to go with Austin as the most natural finisher of the four.
  14. I think there's a good player there in Townsend but not at £14m. Would rather get Matt Phillips for half that.
  15. Interestingly on the OS, Ronald also says he spoke to Austin 2 weeks ago so Saints did really well to keep the deal under wraps right until the end.
  16. With Charlie Austin coming in, this must push Juanmi even further down the pecking order & maybe even off the bench, if all our forwards are fit. Maybe we should loan him back to Spain, for the rest of the season to get game time & rebuild his confidence, & then see if he can step up to replace Mane next season having had some time to familiarise himself with the club already. There's definitely a talented player in there; no way Spain would've called him up if there wasn't.
  17. Really excited by this one. Could be a phenomenal bargain (yes, really Porn Kings)... Also enjoyed reading the reactions of fans of other clubs here (apologies if already posted somewhere): http://talksport.com/football/charlie-austin-southampton-chelsea-manchester-united-and-tottenham-fans-react-saints-ps4m
  18. Plus there's the Caulker-related saving too. Maybe we've knocked some of the loan fee off any deal for Austin?
  19. Agreed. It's the K,Billy thumbs up which intrigues me....
  20. So is this looking likely then? Seen the K,Billy hint, just need Guan to come and finalise it, I guess! Had seen some hints at a West Ham move for him but I wonder if he'd still fancy going there after this back in August... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-3205031/Charlie-Austin-hits-outrageous-slur-West-Ham-chairman-David-Sullivan-questioned-QPR-star-s-physical-condition.html
  21. An excellent player on his day but Romeu's back up for the moment...
  22. The win was essential but the performance gives hope for the immediate future too. Another good finisher & these wins could be turned into thrashings. An excellent response from the chaps.
  23. He could join us as part of his Civic duty.
  24. It'll also be interesting to hear if there are any imminent incomings, particularly with others below us beginning to strengthen, and whether the plan has shifted beyond just signing a single striker.
  25. Interesting to see what Ronald says in his press conference because I'm sure he said the plan was to keep Caulker for the rest of the season. Clearly, he didn't play well in his sporadic appearances for us but it must be hard integrating into a back 4 consistently when you only play once in a while, sometimes only for a few minutes at a time. It will be interesting to see if he gets any game time at Liverpool, even with their injury crisis.
