  1. I'm not as worried as I have been other seasons. Our saving grace was doing well and winning points earlier in the season which has given us a bit of a cushion.
  2. On MOTD Ian Wright was incensed on our behalf at how the ref had awarded a penalty against Bertrand when he has his elbows tucked right in to his side but gives nothing when the Wolves player has his arms stuck out like a scarecrow! Ian Wright mentioned the number of referee howlers we have been on the receiving end of recently and said to give the Saints a break. Amen to that!
  3. It is a good feeling, isn't it? This virus has turned our world upside down and it is very hard not knowing when we can get our lives back. We will get through this. In the meantime, you take care of yourself.
  4. That's an image I will struggle to forget; being in bed with Mike Dean!🤪
  5. Those who don't have any love for the game of football fail to see how those of us that do, get so flaming angry and worked up over officials like Mason & Dean . Death threats are taking things too far, there is no need for that but it is high time the FA made themselves useful and took action against these 'professional' referees. . Any official can make a wrong decision but I have a feeling that these 2 have their favourites in the Premier League and are happy to bend the rules accordingly. Red cards can be rescinded but many decisions have to stand. When the refs and VAR still get things wrong after a lengthy look at the incident it can have a big impact on teams who have unfairly lost points and is also wrong for teams who profit from points they ought not to have had. Those officials who consistently do it must be scrutinsed and kicked out if necessary. Question is, will the FA have the balls?
  6. I must have watched a different game because Saints didn't take advantage of playing against 10 then 9 men and didn't do enough to win. Our fault.
  7. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Ings has changed. I wonder if he is eyeing the exit? I think he might be hoping for a move and one last chance at a bigger club than Saints. In the meantime, Southampton pay his wages so he should put all his efforts into playing well for this team, which we know he can do. He hasn't been sparkling recently.
  8. Why his leg, try his neck.
  9. Absolutely nothing. They are a closed shop, referees. I am pleased for Ralph and Bednarek that the red card has been overturned but it still annoys me that they scored from that 'penalty' and went on to score 2 more goals which I don't think they would have done had Bednarek still been on the pitch. In my mind we lost 6-0. Shame Martial (aka Tom Daley) can't get reprimanded for it.
  10. I think it was a piece of thread hanging from his shirt sleeve that was offside. If the final decision on the Bednarek/Martial episode fell to Dean to make, it was never going to be in Saints favour. I sat through the entire match with my Man U loving son-in-law 😝and even he was saying Martial had dived. I told him Dean would award a penalty and a red card, purely because it's Saints and he's a spiteful little git. Sure enough................
  11. Dean was bloody delighted to be given the opportunity to give Man U a penalty and brandish a 2nd red card for us. This waste of space should be nowhere near refereeing for the professional league. The FA should step in when a referee keeps on making the wrong decisions. I know some on here say we are mid-table, so why worry but just because we aren't in the drop zone doesn't make Dean's mistakes feel any better for me.
  12. Dermot Gallagher has said on Ref Watch that although the first red card for Jankowitch was correct Dean's other decisions were wrong. Adam's goal should have stood. VAR kept moving the lines, I suppose until they found a shot where Adams was offside so their verdict is justified and the 2nd red for Bednarek was wrong as Martial was already falling (diving) and it is Martial's leg that touches Bednareks. If a referee consistently makes errors like this he should be kicked out. If I kept making mistakes in my job I would be shown the door.
  13. I hate Ferguson who is commentating. He seems to think I am interested in how many years it is since Untired scored 5, 6, 7, 8. I don't. As for Mike Dean I knew he would give the penalty and red card. Right up his street.
  14. Shows what a rotten pundit he is. Cavani's toe may be on the line but Ramsey's challenge was just outside the box. No penalty.
  15. Manchester United have received a report on their match against Sheffield United recently. There were 2 contentious decisions in that game which this report confirms were both wrong. I am no Man U fan but I know how I feel after the Villa game and Man U supporters were just as angry after the Sheffield match. The result robbed them of 3 points and the chance to go top of the league. This report just rubs it in. The FA ought to be looking at match officials and why VAR isn't working as effectively as in other sports and take some action, urgently.
  16. Dean will be sure to get Man U's top scorer, Pen, in on the act.
  17. When a contentious decision has been made during a football match, I think the officials should come out after the game and explain why they made their decisions. It wouldn't change the outcome but they ought to be held to account because at the moment they are untouchable. Last night was a joke. I would prefer to win games but I have been a Saints supporter for long enough to accept the defeats. However, some, like last night are very hard to take. We deserved a point from that game. If I had my way it would take a good surgeon a couple of hours to remove that bloody flag from the linesman's ass. Very concerned to see Diallo and Walcott limp off. 2 players back and 2 players off. Man U next. I suppose their top scorer, Pen, will be playing.
  18. You are probably right but while Southampton still pay his wages he needs to put all he's got into this club.
  19. No room for sentiment at Chelsea. Lampard landed the Chelsea job because of who he is, not because of an impressive managerial CV. There has been a lot of rumours about him losing the dressing room. It will be interesting to see if Tuchel can turn it around and start climbing the league to the position Abramovitch reckons is their appointed place. I think I read somewhere that Tuchel is a fiery character. Might be a match for Roman. I hope Lampard stays in management. I think he has the making of a decent manager.
  20. Arsenal are usually a good bet for a long cup run but not this season. Whoo-hoo!!!
  21. Nope. When he misses a shot that a 5 year old could put away, then turns around and grins, that' when I could cheerfully strangle him!
  22. Ralph isn't exactly spoilt for choice. You say the training pitch and classroom is where the match day performance comes from. Shane Long hasn't turned in a decent match day performance for a while now. Many of the players have upped their game under Ralph but this doesn't apply to Long at the moment.
  23. I'd be committed to a club who paid me thousands of pounds a week for doing very little.
  24. Good performers. Long???
  25. Long does this all the time and it drives me mad. He played Adams offside a few weeks ago. You would think at 33 he would have an understanding of where he is in relation to his team mates. When he comes on the pitch my heart sinks. I was disappointed that we hadn't signed a striker last summer. Ings had a great season but we shouldn't be relying on him alone to score the goals and this season has shown that. Che Adams is still off the mark. I hope he can develop into a decent partner for Ings but I doubt it.
