  1. Maybe if we're a couple of goals down and the game is essentially over. Can't see such a gamble if we're holding on for the win/draw.
  2. Yes. He's probably been our main/best playmaker this year. And the threat from set pieces is a big part of our game. It's probably not a great reflection on some other parts of the team though.
  3. As long time sufferers of Southampton Football Club, I think us fans appreciate the job Ralph is doing because we know what a mess he inherited. The 9-0s hurt, but nearly any other manager would have us relegated or battling against it, he's lifted us up to solid mid table with further aspirations, incredible job.
  4. As an aside, how highly do we rate Ramsey? Quite the opportunity opening up for him.
  5. Pompey fans will love him for getting sent off. Afraid to say most of the racist abuse will have come from our own fans, don't have to have spent much time in St Mary's to know we have some dim supporters.
  6. Some of it will be, but there will be plenty of young fans in the UK who are willing to be racist. Unfortunately social media is the wild west and you can get away with abuse anonymously fairly easily if you're "smart". Anyone doing so not anonymously should be named and shamed, and banned for a time.
  7. I'm a 60 odd year old MP and this is rough, can't imagine how it is for the youngsters. I remember a couple of heavy defeats when I was a kid, doesn't make for a pleasant time in school the next day.
  8. Good post. It's difficult to remember after last night but there are worse owners out there than Gao, since he's been in charge we've brought in Ralph and Semmens and our transfer quality has improved. Most of that is because he's fairly hands off, but there are definitely worse options out there.
  9. God I hope so. I actually dont think Gao is the worst owner but he doesnt have the cash. Someone to come in a properly back Ralph would be great.
  10. Long enough to clearly remember the spring of '05 :sick-emoji:
  11. Yeah. I always thought it was a bit silly to make a blanket statement like that. Valery clearly has the ability to be have a career as a professional footballer somewhere in the top two divisions, a successful loan could easily see him rekindle his Southampton future.
  12. I needed this, really brings a point of perspective. Things really aren't that bad.
  13. Isn't he purely a right back? Or can he play both sides?
  14. He's been a victim of his own versatility and being a good pro at Arsenal, can't blame him for forcing his chance at CM at this stage.
  15. King would be a decent signing but no chance. He will be able to get himself a cracking move on a free in the summer.
  16. If Ralph is happy to stay long term then I'm more than happy to avoid short term fixes and sort the squad out long term. Hell of an "if" though.
  17. Yeah. The penalty I can accept as there is a rule for that circumstance. But this one is down to the dragging of a line, which could have gone either way. Utter madness
  18. They have a lot more quality in attack and it shows, even when we have more of the play.
  19. Talking to Arsenal fans, sounds like he's a victim of his own versatility (or willingness to be). Hes not really a full back, but very talented further forward.
  20. Yep, with Liverpool being desperate, could be willing to pay a fair bit.
  21. Assuming Ralph was paying attention during Tuesday's game, I think this is a given.
  22. To be fair, they were quite similar footballers, power forwards. Drogba had a bit more in the locker though.
  23. I know there a lot of 4-2-2-2 evangelists on here, but wouldn't there be some sense in finding a way to go to 5 at the back just to give V-squared the chance to have a decent half? Maybe drop Diallo back in to a 3.
  24. True, though his stock is very high now which is why the big clubs are interested. There is a chance his form drops off next season and the better offers will come from mid-table teams instead. This is definitely the most certain time to secure a move to a champions league club.
