Chaplow for me to. If I had to pick a player of the season so far though would be Lambert. Personally think he is the best player we have. So much more than just a goal scorer.
-
Agree with this totally. Also over this time period some form teams will lose form and some will come into form. Worrying about trips to likes of whu, brum and Leeds now is pointless. In this league there is not much to chose between many of the top teams and they will have all taken points of each other by we get to play them again anyway. Focus on getting three points tonight and then worry about the next game and so.

Live on Goal TV Channel 1 in Asia this weekend. That's the last three Saturday games in a row now. Loving this.

Living where I do I don't get to go to many games but was there for this one and the Barnard goal against MK Dons the week before. Both great celebrations

We're we not second when we played at Brighton last year

One of the most sensible posts I have seen for a while. People discussing whether we need 85 or 90 points at this stage is mental in my opinion. Need to focus one game at a time. Try and get three points here. If we don't it is done and we should focus on the game. And the next three points. Then if we are still in the mix come January (personally from what I have seen there is no reason we shouldn't be.), we have chance to add one or two and push on. If we are still there in March then in my opinion we can start looking at "must win games"

Sorry what you have described is the life of an expat living anywhere pretty much. I have lived in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo and they are all the same. Personally would I change any of it ? NO!

For those of you with Goal TV the game is being advertised live on Channel 1

Good probably means it will be on here

Still dont get why they come all the way to Stoneham to train. Are there really no descent facillities closer to Fratton?

Agree with this. Well past his best and seems to have fallen out with a number of the managers he has played for since leaving us. Would not be first choice, but I think HE would expect to at least be on the bench and with only five subs you run the risk of upsetting someone else and possibly further restricting the chances of some of the youngsters coming through. Relise that some are concerned as to what plan B is if something happens with Rickie but personally feel that the managment team is already thinking this through and don't see Beatts be part of that plan. If he was he has already been out of conttract for at least a month and we have not acted on it.

Nigerian rapist allowed to stay in UK as he has a 'life' over here

Speaking as an immigrant in the country I have chosen to live in, I can only say say if you are not prepared to live by the rules of the country in which you are effectively a guest you should have no rights. Japan has some of the strictest drink driving laws in the world. Mandatory 10 year prison sentence for anyone caught drink/driving. Also if I am traveling in a car with someone I know has been drink driving I could also get a 10 year stretch. I also know for sure that should be convicted of such a crime, on the day of my release I would be driven to the airport and put on the next plane back to the UK and would have no complaints. I have built a life for myself here and enjoy it immensely but if I cannot obey the rules why should the rest of society make exceptions for my socially unacceptable behavior. Send the scum back to whence he came I say. -
Lundekvam or Svensson or Ostenstad or Ekelund?

For me has to be Killer. Claus I think was a great player for us formed some truly impregnable partnerships, with the likes of Killer, Deano and Baird but could look like a fish out of water if paired with the wrong partner. Killer was just class. -
Fonte now please!

I like Jaidi. When you see him on some of the Saints Player videos always comes across as a decent guy who is genuinely happy to be here, interacts well with the fans, would be great to see him stay in some role. Not looking to pick a fight or anything, as I say I like him, but i seem to remember he was the guy who Gordon Strachan described as a "Jessie" when he was playing for Brum or someone and we conceeded a penalty when he threw himself down.

Not on now. ****ed off as I was looking forward to watching here.

I was at Chek Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong, waiting on a flight to London and then connecting to Miami. Watching it on the television in the Cathay Pacific lounge. A colleague phoned me he was in Beijing, he was really worried that it was the start of something big and was worried about getting out of China. Anyway flight took off for London a little late and remember the pilot saying they would keep us up to date with what was happening. Even though we were in the air there were concerns that Heathrow might be shut when we got there, no one really knew what was going on. Anyway landed in London ok but found out all flights to the US had been grounded. Hung around London for a few days waiting to see if there was a flight on to the US, then my boss decided to give up on that idea of Miami and sent me to Brazil instead.

The rules introducing a cut off date for administration were brought in precisely because Leeds net into administration at 1/2 time. They realized they would be relegated anyway so took the hit that year. The league realizing the loop hole closed it and we were the first club to which the new rules applied

Advice on the laws of the game from Match officials
HK_Phoey replied to spyinthesky's topic in The Lounge
3. Kaboul's goal for Spurs last night shouldn't have stood IMO. Remember, interefering with an opponent (which IS offside) is always in the opinion of the referee, so Dowd obviously decided that he didn't interfere. This, of course, may lead to inconsistancy. Life sucks... Used to laugh and joke about girls not understanding the offside rule, well I for one have to say I don't undserstand it anymore. I don't claime the same credentials as brightspark but have to say I can't see how the Kaboul goal stood last night. I think is was Defoe was stood no more than 1.5metres from the goal keeper and literally had to throw his way out of the path of the ball to prevent himself for touching the ball (Talk of goal line technology next we will be employing "hot-spot" to see if a striker gets a touch). How can that not be interferring, Joe Hart must of been aware off him there. How many times do defenders get dragged out of position trying to cover a player who is obviously offside but may just end up being onside if 2nd, 3rd or 4th phase ball comes to him. FIFA in my view have made it impossible for referees. Damned if they give it Damned if they dont. Need to return to the old rules, still agree with Brian Clough if a player isn't interferring with play what is he doing out there -
Bastards! Was one of the live games on telly here. Was really looking forward to this even though it started at 1.20am in the morning here.

For me Shilton was miles ahead of everyone else. Flowers and Niemi were brilliant shot stoppers. Often producing unbelievable saves, but Shilton made saving shots that other goalkeepers would have let in look like routine saves and as someone else mentioned made the 18 yard box look like a postage stamp. He actually controlled the whole 1/2 of the pitch that Saints were defending. Also when the ball was at the other end, he was always stretching, jumping about running up and down, making sure he was properly warmed up if and when required in games we dominated, and yes we did dominate games in those days even against the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd. Paul Jones I also though did well for us as did Dave Beasant. Apologies to anyone else but I haven't seen Maik Taylor mentioned anywhere yet. He also was an exceptional goalkeeper for us and later Birmingham, think he falls into the category of one that got away. I thought the Katalinic was a good keeper to but I was about 12 at the time he was playing for us so perceptions perhaps not as reasoned then. No disrespect to Kelvin, who I think is an excellent keeper, one of the best in the league but for me he would be undoubtedly number two to any of the goalkeepers mentioned above.

I'm with Tom28 to. We probably look at loads of players over the period of the transfer window, the large majority of which are never genuine targets. Notice all the carp that comes out is always from big mouthed, like to see my name in the papers ****s at the other clubs. Like the fact that we try to our business quietly behind closed doors. Interesting to note the only player we have supposedly been in for that we didn't get and the club commented on was Sharpe. Even Fontaine who supposedly had a medical, it was all paper talk, the agent or other clubs that made comments I believe. Nothing through the official club channels. For me now, whilst I enjoy the gossip and rumors, don't believe any of it until it is on the official site.

In relative terms, some of the current current "deterrents" being handed out my be harsh. Having said this these people have shown a complete disregared for the law, for the community and in some cases the lives and welfare of ordinary people and the police. Personnally I think these sentences are fair. It's other crime that is not effectively being deterred, some of the sentencing for quite serious crimes are pathetic.
