  1. Get some pace on. Sully and Fraser on for Brooks and Edozie. Get Smallbone off for any bugger. Not too sure what the footballing question has to be if Smallbone is the answer!
  2. Bad first half but fair play to Huddersfield for the way they have played. Do Saints fans expect every team to turn up and just roll over?? Get Adams off, Adarma up top with Brooks down the right. Give it 15 mins then get Sulemana on for Stuey. If we get one back before 60 mins, we win this game.
  3. Think this could be the one where we pump a team by five or six!! 🤞
  4. A good win and we never looked in too much trouble. Lots of positives to take, the main one being we seemed to do everything a bit quicker, with passes through the lines bypassing lots of sideways boredom. Che Adams showed yet again why we should take anything we can get for him this window. If he is one of our main strikers for the rest of the season, we can definitely forget about the automatic places. I would rather see Tyler Dibling given a chance off the bench.
  5. So obvious, so shit. RM is too arrogant to admit he has got it wrong.
  6. Would rather see Dibling get a chance.
  7. Very dull to watch. We don’t move them around or draw players out of position. Everything is pedestrian. The one high point was the well worked corner for the Armstrong chance. Otherwise, uninspiring. Get Stuey and Aribo off, get Charlie and Edozie on. Would be great to see a player actually take somebody on and break the lines rather than a pass back to a CB.
  8. First game I’ve watched I a while due to family and work commitments. It’s pretty dull. I get the passing possession type game if it moves your opponents. We seem to pass and pass and pass and pass and not one of there players is dragged out of position. When they may possibly be out of position, we play it sideways or backwards. We are lucky not to be two down.
  9. The blokes an absolute joke. Such a smug tosser who thinks he knows best. So fed up with Southampton always trying to be so clever with their appointments. Just get a manger in who plays normal attacking and defending football. Not this idiot.
  10. Could be a decent loan signing. I get all the concerns about his attitude when he downed tools at Bournemouth. He got his move, only to then have Howe follow him up there. Was never gonna go well from that point. Just reading he had also played at RB for club and country before so does provide options.
  11. Not too fussed and can see why the club have decided to let him go. He had the chance to be a Premier League striker and has not really managed it, too many simple chances go begging. Let him go for £15 million and find a better finisher. FWIW I think AA will be the key goalscorer this year. His movement is head and shoulders above Che and with Charlie pulling the strings, he’ll be prolific.
  12. I don’t get this “loyalty” and “one man club” expectation that fans have. JWP obviously wants to try and play for England at a major tournament and that isn’t going to happen playing for us in the championship. I would imagine that the move wouldn’t be for money, just an opportunity to play in Europe and the Prem. As fans we have chosen to follow and support our club and will do for life. For a footballer, a football club is merely an employer. I certainly my haven’t stayed with the first school that employed me, I have moved and progressed, and challenged myself.
  13. I think £30 million is a reasonable deal if the payments are more upfront. JWP is a very good midfielder and his set piece ability is second to none but he’s not the midfield messiah some make him out to be. He has been a great servant to the club though and a model professional. My greater concern is clearing out the likes of Lyanco, McCarthy, Djenepo, and some of the other deadwood holding our rebuild up. Let RM and JW get their players in for their system and then see where we are at.
  14. https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/news/article/livramento-completes-newcastle-transfer Good move for all parties in my opinion.
  15. Great to start with a win but plenty of work to do. I still feel nervous when we try to defend any set piece with the zonal marking. Offensively, a lot of tipppy tappy possession but an end product that often resulted in a shot from outside the box. The second goal shows what they’ve been working on and it should hopefully click even more as the season progresses. AA had a few nice touches and turns in the first half, Edozie will get his man booked every game, we need to keep giving it to him. MoM for me was either JWP, KWP or Smallbone.
  16. Interesting first half. Some moments of good passing and movement off the ball, mixed in with some crazy play at the back. Edozie has grown into the game and if this was a proper match a couple of their players would be on yellows. Not seen much from Che Adams other than the regular missed one on one. Shea Charles looks quality as does Amo-A at times. Not impressed with McCarthy distribution, lost the ball with some misplaced throws. Overall, the positives just outweigh the negatives at this stage of pre season.
  17. We won’t win anything with Lyanco playing. The bloke is an absolute liability. Just a dreadful defender. In fact, just a dreadful footballer.
  18. I think he got to 21/8
  19. Staying up, with Harry and Jim, we’re staying up with Harry and Jim!
  20. I have given Selles the benefit of the doubt but this is clueless. I’m not convinced Dyche or Big Sam would have kept us up because ultimately we are not good enough. We are getting played off the park by Bournemouth. The club needs a total overhaul. So sad as for the first time in a long while we have actually spent some money. Sadly on players that don’t make the squad.
  21. I didn’t mind the Alcaraz substitution and could just about see the logic, on a yellow, worked his socks off and maybe wasn’t tracking back as well. Don’t get the Lavia one though. No surprise to see then get back into it once Diallo came on.
  22. We need Sulemana on for Armstrong as it’ll at least keep them honest at the back with his pace.
  23. Nobody would do that. They would have a relegation on their CV.
  24. Many folk being melodramatic about getting beaten by City. They are a different class to all the other teams bar maybe Arsenal. This game won’t send us down, we were never likely to get anything from this. If we do go down I don’t care who comes in or who stays but would like to see us actually play some decent football. Stop this pointless passing around the back four that doesn’t move the opponents whatsoever. The Jones experiment screwed us over and that was our chance to stay up with the “preseason” during the World Cup. Ultimately though, it’s the failure to sign a striker that has been our downfall. Pelle was immense, Gabbiadini ok, Ings was good for a season and Che for a month or so but we needed a goal scorer and we got everything else but!
  25. Like our previous relegation, we have a bloated squad of overpaid, overpriced yet average players that can’t do the basics. The Jones experiment has cost us this season but until we sort out our style, strategy and beliefs we won’t bounce back. If we manage to somehow survive this, there needs to be big changes in the summer.
