You do not take your best players off if they are not injured! When do UTD take Rooney off when a game is tight? They do not as he is a class player who can change a game in a second! For me lambert is our best player so if not injured why take him off ?

Seems to me that a pattern has emerged in many of our championship games. Off the top of my head I can remember (including the match just finished) that after 1st innings our games have been pretty even. It seems that when we bat first our 2nd innings is often a disaster, eg shot out for less than 200 leaving the opposition a **** easy target. Today a prime example, though 196 ought to have been more testing for derby than it ended up being. Would love to see out seasons stats when we have batted in the 3rd innings of each game.

I think Bates lack of ability with the bat is excruciated by the fact that his predecessor Pothas was such a quality batsman himself. That and the lack of availability of Dimi for a large part of the season has cost us in the 4 day game. Can't take away the efforts of the team in the one day format though , which have been truly magnificent

Seriously, how bad is Michael Bates with the bat? For a keeper who is needed to contribute with bat, he has been shocking barring 1 or 2 reasonable scores. Another duck today. I know he is only young but he needs to start improving soon. As for Vince, in the 4 day game he hasn't progressed at all. The amount of times he has come to the crease, hit 3 or 4 boundaries and then just as quickly given his wicket away is startling. Still got years ahead of him obviously, but have been disappointed to say the least this season at 4 day level.

Quality. It is worth noting though that when you look at the initial MOTD 3 clip when he said GR wouldn't be signing for us, Jason Roberts was much more condescending. Listen to it from 6:35 right through. He seems to say that GR would only be saying he wants to join us as a bargaining tactic to get a "bigger" move elsewhere. Patronising in the extreme but typical of what to expect now we are in the prem.
