  1. Also posted on the Reform thread as they’ve brought so many racists into the open since Brexit, but our nurses certainly feel there’s some ‘two-tier’ treatment from some patients given a 78% rise in racist abuse in just 4 years. I think we can guess which two parties (Reform and Restore) the racially abusive ones vote for https://www.rcn.org.uk/news-and-events/Press-Releases/racism-allowed-to-flourish-in-nhs
  2. Depends how long he has on his contract though, I thought it was only 12 months but perhaps there’s a an extra year’s option? If he isn’t signing a new one then it become obvious to cash as an asset.
  3. Don’t forget shedding some significant wages as well in Aribo. Smallbone probably going on a free (Russell reunion?).
  4. This is where the BBC and others pandering to Reform and the far right leads. 78% increase in racism experienced in just 4 years, let that sink in https://www.rcn.org.uk/news-and-events/Press-Releases/racism-allowed-to-flourish-in-nhs
  5. Happy to him to stay but only likely if he extends his contract.
  6. If they also got £15m for Charles, and Ramsdale, they could play for a higher fee on THB.
  7. Also Fernandes sell on looks likely to materialise. Ramsdale should be £15-20m, possibly slightly more for THB. Sugawara had a good season apparently on loan so should be able to shift him on possibly for a modest profit.
  8. Allegedly turned it down when they were in the Champ. Whoops.
  9. It’s repugnant behaviour. I dare say that Farage was concerned about the drift of the really far right parts of his base to Lowe and Musk. I don’t think it will make any more of what’s left of the Tory Party’s membership move towards Reform and if anything it deepens even further the divide between the two parties making future collaboration near-impossible. Badenoch should be under no illusions about continuing to try and align to Reform’s policies.
  10. Whilst not her biggest fan, that’s an appalling misinterpretation of what Badenoch actually said, not to mention very racist.
  11. There’s a world of difference between one-off murders which involve one ethnic background member of the public attacking another - Nowak, Stephen Lawrence - and George Floyd being murdered by a serving police officer. That’s plain and obvious. With Stephen Lawrence and to a lesser extent with Nowak, there are significant concerns with the police response. On the latter, the police got it wrong at the time. It’s been acknowledged and processes will change as a result. Senior officers have got into a mindset of arrest first for targets/KPIs then establish facts. It has to be a watershed for police to be de-politicised from both left and right. Stephen Lawrence was different in the sense there was a non-investigation and extensive corruption, as well as the ineptitude also seen in the Rachel Nickell, Daniel Morgan and other dreadful investigations.
  12. I agree, decant Middlesex for 2 years and it’ll mean no Ashes test at Lord’s next year. But they’ve got to relay the whole square, you can’t have that dead section at the world’s most important cricket ground. The Hundred will be the problem, the Utilita Bowl could take this year’s Test v Pakistan in August.
  13. Exactly this. Other option is Old Firm offer him 2 years with extra year option. Less intense league than the Champ, European football. We need another forward with Larin who can play 46 games potentially plus the cups. Ross is a good player but his body won’t enable that and probably joined on a decent wage. Might be best for all concerned. We can probably get better as Hull did if were quick off the mark like the club were today.
  14. Evening Major! Watched the Roses T20 in the pub and Yorkshire hammered Lancashire by over 100 runs which in this format is a massacre. Fair to say the Headingley crowd enjoyed themselves!
  15. So the family ask politicians and press not to use Henry’s murder to stir up hatred. And the US VP does exactly that. These white supremacists really will jump on any bandwagon which spreads hate.
  16. Such a pitiful state of affairs.
  17. Rupert doing Farage in so far in Makersfield. So he’s not all bad https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg7p7nmj52jo
  18. It’s probably the chillier, heatwave then damp again weather which has caused it. 175 ahead with 4 wickets left. Ideally need 250+ to feel confident. Gay showed you can score if you stay in, Duckett’s wicket hurt us just before lunch as he was flying. Just very difficult to bed in on that surface hence wickets falling in clusters. Some echoes of Perth situation in the winter.
  19. Joined up writing is probably a challenge to be fair. There’s always grunting I suppose when words are too much.
  20. We have to pay for Musk’s utter stupidity with the wrongly identified two officers needing expensive safe houses and guarding to stop a far right lynch mob from killing more innocent people https://news.sky.com/story/ex-police-officer-falsely-identified-by-grok-in-henry-nowak-arrest-is-forced-to-flee-13550667
  21. Blur made a song for him.
  22. Not long ago he was being referred to as ‘Brownmore’ because it was perceived he wasn’t challenging the club sufficiently. Talk about walking a tightrope….
  23. Apartheid Elon launches another witch-hunt in error and his and Rupert/Nigel/Tommy’s Neanderthals do the rest https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg7pl7zj024o
  24. Tom Prest is an interesting case. He’s a bit loose outside 5th stump at times, as Vince and Zak Crawley were at test level. But his technique overall is quite compact and he has the shots as he showed when he first broke into the One Day Cup side a few years ago with aplomb. I can only comment on what I see, someone at the club must know why he’s plateaued then gone backwards. Early season in red ball the start 30s and 40s were there, then he’d find a really daft way to get out. Few of the dismissals were genuinely good balls unlike some of the ones Gubbins and Dawson got. Now he’s not even getting those in T20 and it’s a cruel format if he gets stuck in a rut. Sports psychologist may be another option 1-1. Rod said in pre-season that the club felt he was on the ‘Bethell fast track’ a couple of years ago and they were hoping Domingo might understand better how to get him out of a stagnation and signs of what indeed have proved to be a decline. I wouldn’t release him but offer a contract with a few levels/markers within it to help get the momentum back.
