  1. The initial target is to get past having the lowest PL points and then bring a bit of pride back into the club before the inevitable drop. Uncomfortable getting there but the Championship ain’t that bad (for too long). We’ve sidestepped the ‘new manager bounce’ with results but, look at Leicester, it often follows with a bump. Juric had little more than a day on the training ground before his first couple of games, this time he’s had a week. Fingers crossed.
  2. Brentford are currently a decent mid-table side and it's going to take a few weeks for Juric to turn this around. But hopefully, with a near full week on the the training ground he's had a good opportunity to get into their heads a bit to start the 'process' to rid them of their 18-month possession-at-all-costs brainwashing. I'm going for a hard-earned point. Support needs to step it up too.
  3. Gets almost a full week on the training ground, are all his new coaching team in place now? Can't see too many points coming our way again in Jan tbh.
  4. Has the OP (and one or two others) been dropped on their heads over the Christmas period?
  5. Zips - particularly in jeans/trousers (fookin hate button flies). Velcro is for kiddies shoes and old people (not mentioning my age).
  6. Watford v skates I’d imagine. And he’s probably hurting.
  7. Forest is sold out (just under 3,000), a few days after travelling up to United on the Thursday night. Support is very good for home and away league games.
  8. Yep, we did every away game in the cup that year, everyone was a cracker (even the semi was a good day out other than the result - even got to have a run around on the hallowed Highbury turf!). That traffic to Hillsborough though, took an eternity just to get past the Hockley lights!
  9. Feeling optimistic (rather than realistic) and hoping for that new manager bounce and more of the second half attitude from midweek. A point would be great and a good start. First target to get over 11 points, then just battle and go down fighting ready to give the Championship (albeit with a few new faces) a right good fucking go! Today, just hoping for a lift in spirits and some festive cheer 🎶"...this year, to save me from tears, I'll give it to Ivan Juric"🎶
  10. I'd certainly add Ramsdale, THB and (although I think he may be gone very soon and is a better player than recent performances) KWP. And, as you say, if Juric comes in and does the same with Dibling as Bally did with Le Tiss, then all the better. That Bally era is up there with some of my best moments supporting this club in well over half a century!
  11. I've got to be honest, don't know much about the fella. I see he didn't last long at Roma but they went through 3 managers in 8 months and apparently were a basket case of a club at the time (sound familiar?). Also just read elsewhere he prefers a 3-4-3 but happily changes tactics during the game and can switch to a back 4. If nothing else it helps revive an old 70s chant we had for a previous Yugolslav (Serb) where one side of the terrace shouted "Ivan" followed by the other side "Golac" which was quite effective,
  12. Two posts, the first wanting Martin out on Nov 11, the second lamenting those wanting Martin out
  13. I guess Wed fans will be a bit narked if this is true so will likely set up a feisty fixture in the Championship next season.
  14. Hiulmand does appear to be the front runner right now - a report on the ex Danish coaches’ preferred style https://learning.coachesvoice.com/cv/kasper-hjulmand-denmark-nordsjaelland-tactics/ “Hjulmand has shown impressive adaptability within games during his time as Denmark manager, with structural changes allowing his side to build attacks according to the opposition’s weaknesses”
  15. I'd imagine the timing of this release of major news just happens to coincide with rumblings of unrest and protest, particular as we're live to the nation later. Probably forced them to reveal their "Ten Year Plan" sooner than expected. Done nothing to stop fans bickering amongst themselves though
  16. I think it certainly will happen...eventually. Liebherr/Cortese got as far as 'artists impressions' over a decade ago, Gao came in with intentions of progressing it until his wings were clipped and now we have this latest development. But even though leases are nearing the end on the riverside wharfs, the cement works and others will need to be relocated. No easy task. Then you look at how many proposals have floundered around the city in recent years despite getting planning approval - a few major examples - Nelson Gate, Leisure World, Maritime Gateway (ToysRUs), Debenhams, the Bargate Quarter is stop-start. Material costs constantly escalating, a depleted UK construction workforce (it will be even harder now with the need to find enough tradesmen to build these 1.5m new homes over the next 5 years nationwide) great if it comes off but won't be holding my breath.
  17. Anyways, more importantly, are we displaying the 'Pride of the South' banner across the Northam tomorrow?
  18. Spurs must be rubbing their hands at the prospect of playing us. RM has consistently stated he won't change, he gushed over their manager doing the same. He will this weekend, they'll play exactly the same way that destroyed Man fuckin' City, it will just be easier this time. Postecoglou said thanks Russel for not changing. Again.
  19. Yeah, too much time on my hands now I’m semi-retired…and should know better at my age! #notbignotclever
  20. I agree, many of us accepted it was very likely that we’d go straight back down but another season in the Championship didn’t appear the worse prospect. But going down without a fight is unacceptable. So relegation wouldn’t be pinned on Lallana, as long as it wasn’t more of the same. But assuming RM’s coaching team go too, who does AL surround himself with? Not ideal but it’s a short-term option and saves the club a few bob rather than bringing in experience and would, imo, give the club an immediate lift.
  21. Not very festive but… “Dragan, Dragan, sack the board*, Rasmus is a fuckin’ fraud” Don’t thank me…oh, you didn’t *I know some say he can’t but he’s the money man and it would at least send a message
  22. To make more of an impact, there probably needs to be a bit more of this outside while the SR bods are entertaining their clients. But rather than flares and the supportive chants in May, more along the lines of “Sports Republic, your football is shit”, “You don’t know what you’re doing”...you get the gist
  23. £20 adults (plus booking fee...) £5 under 18s - probably should have been a fiver across the board if they wanted a reasonable crowd for this! https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/news/article/ticket-information-for-swansea-fa-cup-fixture
  24. He does sport the required beard so a good start. His club CD Santa Clara are based in the Azores so that means a 2,000 mile round trip for every away game, maybe he's sick of airports. Away to Middlesbrough next season will feel like a doddle.
