  1. Hunger, pace, fair bit of ability. He battered our defence up there in April. I think he'll score a lot more goals next season. Not quite sure what age has to do with it, by the way.
  2. One season for a team who were bottom of the league until the last few weeks of the season. You know by watching certain players whether they have it in them to progress to the next level, rather than just relying on statistics. Vardy's clearly got it, it's a big shame we didn't get him when we were linked with him when he was at Fleetwood and Saints were in the Championship.
  3. Agree. I doubt he'd be that hungry. Think it was Alex Ferguson who said never to sign players on their way down. He's played for Arsenal and Barca, would he really be that motivated to reallly make a difference to Saints?
  4. Vardy is a better centre-forward than Welbeck. And possibly Ings as well.
  5. I think Austin has a lot more mobility than Rickie ever had. I do really rate Austin as a finisher, I think he's a really top striker. As is Vardy (though Austin is more clinical). Both their England call-ups are richly deserved.
  6. Berahino is a bad egg. Avoid like the plague, I'd suggest.
  7. I did raise some concerns about this last week, and thought at the time that quite a few Saints fans might be in for a bit of a nasty shock, given most of the replies, which were along the lines of there being very little chance of Jose leaving. Personally, I am surprised by very little nowadays. Though getting Alderweireld to sign for us would be a bit stunning.
  8. He's better than Cahill.
  9. He is apparently now known as Clickinsect on the Ugly board. He does like a bit of debate, it's fair to say.......
  10. I don't. I went there for England v Tunisia in the 98 World Cup, and the hot weather, loads of bars at Le Vieux Port and large numbers of Algerians, Moroccans and Tunisians was a recipe for fairly major trouble.
  11. He wins a lot of free-kicks. Seems to get singled out by the oppo defences for fairly rough treatment for some reason. I like him. It's not his fault that Hull took a short-term profit on him. More fool them.
  12. Seem to recall there were rumours recently about us signing Micah Richards, but I would have thought his wage demands would be above what we'd want to pay. Plus he seems to be injury-prone.
  13. I think that if you compare Bertrand and Alderweireld with Shaw and LOLvren, you'd say that they were arguably both more solid defensively than their predecessors, and also less inclined to giving away daft free-kicks near our goal (thinking of LOLvren in particular here). Also, much though I liked Boruc, at least Forster doesn't do Cruyff turns in his own penalty area.
  14. One of my big concerns is whether we may lose Fonte to one of the big boys. He has been majestic this season. He's deffo good enough for Arsenal or United.
  15. I'm not going to gloat. As with last summer, they could yet come in for some of our players with the funds from selling their star player; haven't they already been linked with Fonte?
  16. One word, Steve. Redknapp.
  17. If Boscombe do not fall foul of Financial Fair Play rules in the next three years, I will consider eating my garage.
  18. I just hope he doesn't sign for Boscombe and score enough goals to keep those peasants up.
  19. Mmmm. Different bench to warm, I guess...... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-rickie-lambert-liverpool-transfer-5635162
  20. Think they're showing the Mayweather - Pacquiao fight tomorrow night as well. When it's working well, Sports Mania is really good. Though I do find I sometimes have to use NBC and Offside Streams as back-ups.
  21. I like Pearson. I hope he keeps them up, but it looks like he needs a break from the game for his own sanity. I'm not sure how managers are able to do these post-match interviews and press conferences sometimes. I'm p1ssed off enough as a fan if we've lost, and am usually in a foul mood for an hour or so afterwards. Have no idea how I could face a mass interrogation after a defeat.
  22. Totally agree with all of this. I started watching Saints in '91 as well, weirdly.....
  23. Edited for daft typo.
  24. A large part of me thinks that Alderweireld's repeated comments that he would like to say are just good PR on his part, so that he doesn't get any grief from the fans. Even if his wife does like the Southampton area, ultimately money talks. Both for Atletico and Alderweireld.
  25. Higginbotham was a very average player, but speaks very well as a pundit. I think he could have a decent career as a pundit. He's a million times better than Savage, FFS.
