The other way of looking at it is that Championship clubs with no gate or hospitality income for three months of this season, and a month of next season, might just start being a bit more keen to sell players to survive.

At £14m, I'd keep him and let his contract run down. If we sell, we still need to spend to replace him, so we don't see any profit.

Over on the Ugly Inside website, Nick Illingsworth's review of the league one play off second leg is pure genius.

To be fair, that doesn't sound like a good deal now, seeing as one of those was always injured, and the other was just not a very good footballer.

Maybe, but then they have a few years of Champions League income and winning things to help rather than winning the fairs cup in 1967, laughing emoji clever **** thing. -

Well, even being owned by the Saudi Royal family wont make them any bigger or better than Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, will they be happy being 5th at best? -

The problem for Derby seems to be that the stadium was valued in the accounts at £50m, but was sold to the owner for more than £80m allowing them to stay within FPP. They cant have it both ways, so either the accounts have been wrong, or the stadium sale looks a bit fishy. Also, their accounts have shown values for players as assets even though they are out of contract and therefore worth zero in theory. All this has allowed them to stay within FPP and not get fined. Other clubs, particularly Middlesbrough are very annoyed. -

I don't think we will be quite like Sunderland, because their incompetent owner actually wrote off the majority of his loans to the club to let the takeover go through a couple of years ago. Gao hasn't loaned us any money, so he cant even do that. -
VAR should have been the ideal way to ensure that games reflected the true result, and removed some of the terrible decisions made by the Refs. Instead, they have a flawed system that they have now made worse as the season has gone on. On offside, the rulings have been right, it is the rules that need changing, so armpits etc are not deemed to be interfering with play. The rest of it has been changed for the worse during the season. How can a defensive handball not be punished, but an attacking one is? Also, it is clear to me that they have decided that in nearly all cases the ref is right with his original decision unless you are playing Liverpool or City, in which case it can be changed. They need referees looking at the monitors, and they need to call a penalty when it is a penalty, even when the referee thinks it isn't. Finally, if they are going to change the rules, then they need to bring in a system where the clock is stopped each time the ball is not in play, and then we would actually the game time we have paid for by buying a ticket.

There is another issue to take into account and that is the maximum squad size for a PL team. Whilst I share the general dissatisfaction with the lack of transfers, I can also understand why we will not buy more players that would mean someone already in the squad on £30k - £40k per week cant play for six months.

I really dont think we would have had a club without him, and he was a true fan. RIP Leon

Completely right, apart from the fact that last season, as a season ticket holder, you could enter the bar at no cost. I'm not moaning especially, more that I don't see that turning down the money they were making for having the bar pretty full is going to be replaced with idiots spending £150 for one game, or ST holders paying an additional £200 just to get access. Oh and a programme included!
-
The really annoying thing is that last season, it was nice to pop in there after the game to have a beer and let the crowds die down. Got the letter about this season and nearly did myself a mischief laughing at the cost. It really is hopeless from the club, really cant see anyone paying a further £200 to go to an expensive pub.
-
Its not that we are skint, but that we will be if we have 30+ first team players, on first team wages, and 5 of them at least can't play until the PL list is changed in January. The problem with all of this is the wages, especially if we go down. We would be completely finished if we took that wage bill into the Championship. It therefore makes perfect sense to try and move players on before we bring in others, but as we are finding, no one else will match the wages of players not good enough to get into a team that has finished in the bottom 5 of the PL for the last two years.
-
With 25 man PL squads, those that the manager doesn't want but earn a reasonable amount are liabilities. In Boufal's case though I would like to see him given another chance.
-
I think it was £30m or even £300m per game. It wasn't just the flying wardrobe though it was the council and Peter Storrie as well

Confirms everything I ever thought about the T***er

Good to see the Sunderland fans on Ready To Go raising issues about being not even able to view the Pompey forums, and the excuse is that they would be all trolling like the Scummas, if they could post, but no explanation as to why they cant even read and laugh at the ridiculous P****y are bigger than Sunderland rubbish.

Mario Lemina - Official: Signs for Nice
Depressed of Shirley replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
So Lets get this straight. Until two weeks ago, we had won one game all season, and all our players put together weren't going to fetch £30m. Now we have one a game and Lemina and McCarthy are suddenly leaving for a fortune in transfer fees. I don't doubt Lemina is a decent player when he tries, but I don't think he has done anything to warrant a move to PSG!! -
Adkins was definitely sacked on the Friday after that game at Chelsea.
-
Someone else will employ him on the same money after Stoke and us??
-
If you say that to Allardyce, he wouldn't take it, so you have to give him a 3 year contract, and then it costs you another £10m to get rid of him and his coaches in the summer. Our owner isn't going to put any more money in, so that scenario would appear to be another sure fire way of having no funds to replace the terrible players we have.
