  1. Has good touch and very good at the round the corner pass he tried a few times yesterday. If we had a striker in the middle, they could get quite a bit of joy off of those. Plus, he can hit the ball hard and at goal, which seems to be a rare trait for us, we just need to create more shooting opportunities for him.
  2. Thing is, I've never met a Muslim who did not tolerate homosexuality, but I've met plenty who do. You may be reading too much daily mail if you think all Muslims are homophobic. The same argument applies to Christianity, by the way, which also has homophobic teachings, but doesn't mean every Christian is a homophobe. In fact, I have house shared with Christians in the past, who all believed I was going to go to hell in the end, just because i am not religious- but we were still able to be friends, and support each other.
  3. Steady on, hes a reserve keeper for a good team, a solid midtable quality gk, no more. Keegan was a superstar at the time. I'd put it on a par with the Rory delap signing.
  4. Did he get the free kick record yet?
  5. It does make a lot of people feel better about themselves. And if you think that oppression is all in the past, I have a bridge for sale. Southampton pride is one day a year, and most people don't even realise it has happened. I don't think anyone should be forced to wear rainbow laces, it's a free country, but the consequence of that decision is also free and up to the club. I think saints should be a club where the consequence is that that person doesn't play in the team. To do a bit of whatabouttery, what if it was a player who refused to wear the pink shirt because it was close to the transgender flag colours? Would you expect the club to change the uniform to match their bigotry, or is it a problem with the player?
  6. To be fair they sound like curmudgeons who don't like other people having a good time. "The gay community" doesn't have a consensus on pride people being pickmes, I think that is probably just a few people you met. Pride is just a great day out for a lot of people and a celebration of overcoming a lot of oppression. If my job entails wearing a uniform, and once a year that includes a certain colour of laces, and i refuse it because i don't believe people should be allowed to be gay, I think that is homophobic and not something a club like southampton should support. Let him go to Burnley, West ham or similar instead.
  7. Signing a homophobe would be interesting, especially for a club that sold out the rainbow kit in about 5 mins. I imagine we'd end up with a mini-pride outside the stadium before every game, which could actually be a good thing. Not sure the club would want the associated pr that comes with him though, and assume a couple of our players would not be very happy.
  8. Surprised if it's a permanent deal, how is he going to react when he loses his place to baz in January?
  9. About an hour ago.
  10. I heard a rumour that you don't have to live in Shirley or ocean village if you don't want to. Just a rumour though, unconfirmed. Plenty of nice places for a footballer to live in the new forest, and closer to staplewood too.
  11. I did put a /s - I was referring to the argument earlier where posters were being told they were irritating in their posts because they were autistic. I am also autistic by the way, so if you find my posts irritating that could be why (/s again).
  12. Is bijlow autistic? That could explain the failed medical and why he posts in an irritating way. (/s and jk in case it isnt obvious)
  13. Sounds lower than usual, could starmers tough stance already be paying off?
  14. Think people need to adjust their expectations. On paper, and by the bookies, we are this year's whipping boys. We're going to lose most of our games. Just being competitive in games and still having a chance of points after 60mins play is an achievement here. So only losing 1-0 is pretty good, and the reason we are as high as 16th. It's a long season before we get to win games in the championship again, if you are bedwetting now, what are you going to be like later in the season?
  15. How idealistic of you. I trust that if alex Scott gets the job you will be amongst the first celebrating her success, and not calling it a woke appointment? Because nowadays, a black woman can't get a lead part in film, tv series, or presenting job without the antiwoke brigade throwing a baby tantrum. The whole intent behind woke is to give the best person the job, it just seems to be very upsetting for some people when it turns out to be someone who isn't a white heterosexual man.
  16. Meh, we'd take this position after 38 games. Bearing in mind if we want to be a yo yo club, every other season will be spent losing a lot of games, this is not too bad. I would like to see a bit more urgency in injury time though, frustrating to still be jogging around with the game on the line.
  17. Consider this point of agreement: Brexit has had a major impact on many facets of the uk including the economy, immigration, and laws. If we all agree with that, then it's just a case of weighing positive and negative impacts, and considering that we may have different opinions on those. For example, we are now able to dump sewage like never before. Some people, who don't want polluted rivers and beaches etc, might think that's bad, but others might think that is good, eg it allows utility companies to be more efficient in how they manage waste. Similarly, a drop in eu immigration has led to more immigration from further afield, leading to an increase in ethnic diversity and more immigrants from africa and Asia. Some celebrate that, others might think it's bad. It's without doubt cost our economy overall, but has benefited other countries, eg france, who don't have the Dublin agreement to worry about anymore, and they get to make our blue passports for us. There's always winners and losers, so you can't say brexit has been good or bad, it's just your perspective on whether you prefer a European collaborative effort to improve quality of life and british business, with free moving eu immigration and major trade deals, or whether you want Britain to have its own sovrinty and increased nonEU immigration, and have it's own smaller trade deals. If it's the latter, then you have every right to view brexit as a success.
  18. Agree with a lot of the above, not everyone who voted for brexit was a bumbling idiot who got fooled or scammed. Many of the people who voted for it knew what the consequences would be and voted for it anyway. Plenty of people can absorb the cost and just couldn't care less about those who can't.
  19. Bazunu has a quality long pass, which we saw plenty of. (18.6% of his passes were long balls)
  20. Shows its not enough, so in that sense yes, I think the 77k job is fine but they need to employ more at lower level, 30-40k roles to implement the strategy.
  21. Slightly less. Black: 24.5 stop and searches per 1,000 people White: 5.9 stop and searches per 1,000 people Mixed ethnicity: 9.9 stop and searches per 1,000 people Asian: 8.5 stop and searches per 1,000 people
  22. To be fair, he scored a beauty against the best team in the country...
  23. Delgado was a star. Without him we would not have beaten peak arsenal, probably the best side we have ever beaten. He won the pen to go 2-1 up and then scored our 3rd. It's a shame some of our fans didn't like him for some reason.
  24. How do flights and accommodation for two people and 2 nights come to over 30k? And what does Mr Harborne gain from it?
