Yeah, i completely agree, but Norwich fans were saying last year, Grant Holt, top goalscorer etc. etc. he should be in the England team, just like what we are saying today - so Holt wasn't picked last season even though he was the top English scorer (maybe?), so how can we claim Lambert should be picked this season. Dont give me this Lambert is so much a better play stuff, we know that, neutral fans know that, the criteria Woy is looking at will be goals scored, but even then he still picks Wellbeck, Lambert is best out of it, the whole England set up is in a rapid decline.

Rog, how can you compare Rickie to Teddy Sheringham FFS. tbh, you simply cannot compare todays England players to the England of the 90's. Trouble with this place is there are too many of people like you on here, who believe that any player that dons a shirt must be capable of stepping up to the national level, why? When did I say that? I don't advocate Holt for England over Lambert. My points are, to clarify to some on here are: If lambert should play for England based on the fact of how many goals he has scored then Holt should have played last season, I cannot see how anyone can disagree with that. The argument that SRL is a much better player than Holt is all very well (and extremely valid) but Holt was also playing well last year. But all I keep hearing is that SRL has scored more than any other English player, so we should pick players purely on current form, which goes back to Holt last season and Bobby Zamora and Andy Carroll the year before. But my original point was that if we start picking players like SRL for England now, where are we gong with he national team? Are we just playing for now, because if we are then we are doomed. I see a bleak enough future for the national side when players like Aaron Martin cannot even get a look in against someone like Jos, let alone not trying to develop players like OXC in the national side. If the club managers cannot play English players, we are only left with developing them at international level, which would clearly stuff us for a major comp or two but we may actually develop a young decent national team, a bit like we are doing at the moment at St Mary's. and the argument thrown at me that in that case SRL should be dropped for an emerging younger player does not cut it. Saints are competing in every game and need to be now, that is not really the case for the national side" FWIW I would love to see SRL play for England because of course that is what he wants, and fair play to him, but as a Saints fan (sorry Rog), I hope he doesn't get a sniff because England are ****e and boring, and he will just get slated if we play badly, and Hodgson will pull him off and then drop him. Yeah, no question about that, but is Lambert the future for England? Are Gerrard and Lampard? Depends what you want out of your national side, keep the world class players in sure, but how many of them have we got? People like Roger would obviously suggest that Rickie is, but in the real world we know that is not the case. Basically we haven't got any anymore.

Its funny how at one time or another, just about every English player we have has had a serious shout for place (and one has made it, and that was really worthwhile, sure all the Saints fans felt so much pride seeing AL warm the bench), we could build a team for England. Davis in goal has been a shout, obviously we have the two full backs, no doubt at one time or another Aaron Martin has been mentioned, tbf I am struggling with another CB, then you have Cork, Puncheon, Lallana in midfield with Rickie and J Rod up front. Viva England, we are Saints, we are so ****ing great that all our players should be playing for England.

what because Rickie Lambert isn't in it? Jesus, i really think that if Lambert is in the England squad going to Brazil then we might as well not bother going anyway. I think Lambert is great, I compare his game to Rooney but when are England going to wake up, appoint a progressive manager that can bring the young players through and have the bottle to disgard the dinosaurs that have frankly won f - all for this country. We should be picking J Rod over Lambert anyday! The likes of Jack Cork, Luke Shaw, Sterling, OXC, Walcott should be in the squad, not Rickie Lambert.

Playing midfield or right back, ability has limitations but reasonably fit, could last a whole match and can do sex for about 20 minutes (depending on company).
