  1. Oh christ that old chestnut, I thought that had been resolved long ago to be honest. How shocking, paid for 8 hours and da management expect you to work for the 8 hours. Job and finish may be the case for the actual posties it's not so at the sorting office.
  2. Anyone on here who is a Postie? My missus work for the PO and the CWU sent through the strike ballot a couple of weeks ago, but the "issues" with Royal Mail were not defined. How anyone can vote to strike (or not) without defining the reasons/issues is beyond me! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article6872538.ece "Key points include a demand for stronger job security guarantees and an improved benefits package for postal workers, plus a guarantee that staffing levels will not be affected by budget deficits. Royal Mail is asked to reveal its business plan and to promise to introduce change only by agreement, and to allow the union to define what constitutes a fair day's workload." Yeh, we all want all of those things in our companies as well, not sure many people in the private sector are jumping up and down at the moment though given the jobs market. The last one is a killer for me, the workers define a fair days work. What the feck is that all about?
  3. Unfortunately very true. I've no reason to lie, I personally know this fella and am god parent (hey, I couldn't say no!) to one of his children. I don't deny that there are tax loopholes, but the rot has to stop somewhere. It's far easier to control the individual slackers rather than large businesses or mega rich individuals. Maybe if our corporate/personal tax system wasn't so expensive some of these companies wouldn't feel the need to offshore. These tax loopholes will never be closed IMO.
  4. But the workshy tossers should be made to take these jobs. Nothing should be below anyone on JSA.
  5. Hey I agree, but I feel despair at the benefits systems in the UK that makes it better to stay on benefits rather than get a job. I work hard, pay taxes and all I see if people sponging off society, at the same time before my dad passed away he really was disabled but had to justify his DLA regularly. All that said, if my dad thought I was voting Tory he'd have never spoken to me again. I personally know someone on DLA who rides a bloody moto cross bike and painted his house in 2 days, but gets about £3000 per month in benefits and housing costs for his family. That's the equivalent of about 50k per year for Joe Public, that's **** and he's just had another kid taking the total to 4. That's **** and totally wrong. His wife had her first kid at 15 and had never worked (officially) in her life. So for every Labour policy I applaud such as bringing people out of poverty, working tax credits , minimum wage etc there are the leeches on society who bleed us all dry.
  6. I'm afraid to say that although the majority of paedophiles are men, there is thought to be a significant number of crimes committed by women but they either go unreported or are never discovered. Sad but true. One thing though, why do we put women on a pedestal in regards to their children? Isn't it just as awful that some fathers are also paedophiles? This supposed wonderful bond between a mother and her children is driven by societies expectations of a mother. Look at the horror on peoples faces when it's "acceptable" for a man to walk out on his children but for a mother it's unthinkable.
  7. Yes, I know there is no magic wand, it's a difficult market to get jobs. Amazingly though, I've seen a few adverts in windows rececntly so there are some out there, I've no doubt they're not the type of jobs that most people would want to accept. You've raised some interesting questions about what roles the Blues would force people into. Voting Tory is not a choice I take lightly, but I do feel we need change and we've gone too far with the benefits system to the point where some people choose not to work. I guess I should have a look at the Lib Dems to see where they're going with social policies. I did chuckle the other day at Cameron's speech questioning Labour's record on poverty. I've no doubt that the mimimum wage would've never been implemented under a Tory government and millions more kids would still be living in poverty.
  8. So Wilko, what was their take on my previous example? Do you not think it's right to "force" someone to work if what they would receive in wages outweighs their total in benefits? If your claiming JSA and successfully apply for a role why not force them to take the job even if it's min wage @ £5.80 / Hour. When they add on the other benefits available it jumps significantly assuming they've got kids.
  9. Well, I've never voted Tory in my life, but I'm seriously considering it this time around. I've always voted Red, applauded the minimum wage and pay my fair share of taxes. I've never begrudged paying 40% tax for my higer earnings. I've never been a full on leftie, but I do see the value in a fair society with people paying their way and the less well off getting breaks in life. I guess I feel that way as I was bought up on a council estate in an era (70's) when the recipients of the council houses treated them with respect, almost like their own mortgaged property. That said, I do begrudge people being on benefits (that I personally know) who've turned down jobs as it's "not worth their while". I can never see the Labour party resolving that issue, I could see the Tories sorting it out. If there's a job out there paying £20 per week more than your benefits and you get offered it, you should be obliged to take it, you stop being a liability and become a contributor (fiscal) to society.
  10. Well I think we and they should wait and see to be honest. Reading the Independant today and no one can actually clarify how much money this fella actually has! I can't believe they'd find another chancer and this fella was recommended by the Story teller. If it's a consortium though as Merovingian says I guess it's a different matter

  12. Funny thing is was speaking to a skate on holiday and he maintained, it's been a roller coaster ride for 5 years, prem, FA cup etc, but he wouldn't change it for a thing. I wonder if he still has the same opinion now they're facing oblivion. Tosser.
  13. I agree. I can't see the premier league bailing them out. As Clapham said, Pompey going into administration will be driven by the courts and creditors surely, and he's the insolvency expert. Then, just say they did "save" them, and they avoided relegation, imagine the court cases from the relegated teams. Go on premier league, make an example of them. It's only fair and proper, not because it's Pompey although that does make it sweeter.
  14. If the aussie Saint who bought 3 STs for my kids school (St Patricks in Woolston) is on here thanks very much indeed. I've mislaid the newletter but it did have your name and the fact that you were an ex pupil. We were at St Pats at the same time although I was in Infant school. As an explanation, the STs are given to "Star of the Week" and pupils with 100% attendance over the terms.
  15. I would think they've thought about it, then said noooooo, surely no one is that stoopid or poorly managed to go into administration in the worlds richest league. HTH!
  16. Be careful Charlie else you'll get a response like this.... Originally Posted by docker-p I have you muppet and await a response. 17. I think you'll find that Kardeem may be extracting the urine.....
  18. I watched them celebrating and it occured to me that the police and stewards wouldn't have been so generous if Saints fans had acted like that in the Northam. There were several well onto the netting.
  19. We dominated midfield for large parts of the game against Rovers. There is a difference between dominating midfield and getting attacking midfielders to push on supporting the strikers. If we got another quality striker in that would give Lambert time and space and us more options. I'm sure he's sick to death of being the sole target man.
  20. WGC, I don't think there is a conspiracy amongst the officials, it's been mentioned on here already today, the general standard in League 1 is awful. Every step down the pyramid you take the worse it gets, we all thought CCC officials were bad, welcome to League 1 !
  21. In your opinion Alpine, in your opinion. Maybe they are happy with what they've seen so far, coming from outside of the circus that is Southampton they have no preconceptions.
  22. Exactly the reasons IMO why Lambert scored 29 last year. They played with pace and width, something we still struggle with. Stuggle to deliver that is, and lasty night struggled to cope with as well. Every time we broke quickly I knew I was destined to be dissapointed, when their player ran at our defence on a quick break I was ****ting myself! They seemed fair more direct running at our defence whereas we seemed to want to hold the ball up.
  23. Oh how I wished for Chris Marsden to be playing on the left of midfield last night!
  24. Yeh but I'm sure Keith would like some extra cash for the club ;-)
  25. IF anyone is looking for a nice quiet place for a beer before the game with kids I'd recommend BTC rowing club, Crosshouse road under the bridge on the town side. Beer is cheapish, they have a pool table (40p!!!) and a dart board to keep older ones happy and just a 5 minute walk to SMS.
